Chapter 368 The Crazy Audrey
Audrey was floored by Francis's cold-blooded attitude and got all choked up, "Francis, but..."
"No buts." Francis's voice was ice-cold and flat as he said, "Audrey, if the Hernandez Group can't even handle a crisis, then maybe it's time to rethink who's running the crisis management center."
"I..." Audrey tried to get a word in, but Francis cut her off, "That's it."
He hung up on her without a second thought.
Not long after, Victor walked in to let him know Harper had made it home safe.
Francis stayed quiet for a bit before saying, "Check if there's anything fishy about Felix's illness."
After figuring out Audrey's game, Francis knew his trust in her was shot, and now he doubted every word she said.
If it was legit, then no biggie, since Felix had always been on his side.
Francis figured he should give the Hernandez Group some time to sort out the mess.
But if it was all a lie, or just Audrey's excuse, then she couldn't blame him for being a cold-hearted jerk.
Victor soon got his hands on Felix's medical report.
It clearly said Felix had a sudden complication, went into shock, and might end up in the ICU.
Victor reported, "I checked everyone at the hospital. Mr. Hernandez's condition is pretty serious, and Ms. Hernandez has been with him in the ICU."
Francis read the report. If it was true, then fine.
He told Victor, "Get the best heart specialist for a consult on Felix."
"Yes, sir," Victor replied.
Before heading out, Victor remembered something and said, "Mr. Getty, there's another thing. There was a fire on Whispering Willow Lane, and a woman died. They put out a notice for ID. So far, the physical traits match Ms. Musk, but it's not confirmed yet."
When Chloe got dumped on Whispering Willow Lane, it was just a slap on the wrist.
Following Francis's orders, Victor didn't take her phone.
If Chloe didn't want to get hurt, she could've called the cops, but that would've exposed her for drugging someone, landing her in jail.
Francis gave her a choice, but she didn't call the cops. She chose to hide on Whispering Willow Lane and get tortured rather than go to jail.
Victor didn't feel bad for her; she did it to herself.
Francis lowered his eyes a bit and said, "Go to her place and grab her stuff for ID."
Remembering Chloe's last hateful look, he couldn't chill until he knew for sure that body was hers. It wasn't about his own safety; he was worried Chloe might go after Harper.
Outside the ICU.
Audrey clutched her phone tight, her face twisted with effort.
Francis was so cold and heartless; she didn't have much time left.
Just then, Audrey's personal bodyguard, Jonathan Musk, showed up.
"Is the medicine taken care of?" Audrey asked.
Jonathan whispered, "It's done, Ms. Hernandez. Don't worry, no one will find out Mr. Hernandez's heart attack was because of the wrong meds."
Audrey nodded. She had Jonathan give Felix meds that messed with his current treatment to cause complications.
If she had any other choice, she wouldn't have gone this far to buy time.
As long as Felix stayed in a coma for another half month, it would be enough. She didn't care about the damage to Felix's body. Felix would die sooner or later, and the sooner he died, the sooner she could take over the family.
Even though messing with Felix's health only bought her half a month, Audrey was sure that in that time, she'd lock down her spot as Mrs. Getty of the Getty family.
Feeling a bit down, Audrey wanted to lift her spirits.
She pushed open the door to the VIP hospital room and said, "Come in."
Jonathan followed her in right away.
The room was all fancy and top-notch.
Audrey sat down, legs crossed, looking at Jonathan like she was some kind of queen. "Kneel and please me."
Jonathan's usually cold eyes flickered for a second. He stepped forward, dropped to his knees, and got to work like a pro.
In that moment, Jonathan felt alive. He was born on Shadowvale Isle, and Felix had paid big bucks to hire him to protect Audrey.
Felix valued the die-hard loyalty of Shadowvale Isle warriors, who only recognized one master for life.
But Felix didn't realize that the bodyguard he handpicked would end up feeding him lethal meds. He underestimated the blind loyalty of Shadowvale Isle warriors.
Even if his master told him to kill his own dad, he'd do it without a second thought, let alone something like this.
So, for life, Jonathan was Audrey's dirtiest tool, handling all the nasty stuff. And there was no worry about betrayal; Shadowvale Isle warriors would never betray, even in death.
In the flickering shadows on the wall, a dark figure of a man was kneeling, serving devoutly to help his master vent her desires.
Afterward.
Audrey was still lounging in the chair, her body lazily relaxed from the recent excitement.
She said, "Be careful next time."
She kept her virginity because she planned to use it to its highest value.
Jonathan, being a rough guy, wasn't exactly gentle. If he didn't serve her well, she would've ditched him long ago.
Audrey's face was flushed, feeling a bit tired, "How's Chloe now?"
Jonathan replied, "She's under watch. Not dead but no will to live."
Audrey felt contempt in her heart. What a wuss! Such a small setback could knock her down.
"Give her some hints." Audrey originally planned not to take any risky actions for the time being.
But Francis's ruthless attitude deeply hurt her. Even hearing about Felix's serious illness, he remained so cold-blooded.
It was all because of that Harper who should have died long ago.
Audrey's eyes were filled with venomous malice. Harper shouldn't be alive.
"Okay." Jonathan answered with his head down, dreading to look at Audrey's face.
The bulge between his legs was too obvious, and Audrey, who saw it clearly, couldn't ignore it. She frowned slightly, "Go help yourself."
Jonathan nodded and left.
In a shack.
Jonathan hadn't entered yet but heard some sounds.
Chloe lay like a dead fish, and the man was dark and dirty, clearly a rough guy.
He angrily threw the blanket on Chloe's face. "What's that smell? Get out today."
The man cursed while pulling up his pants. "Filthy broad, if I could find another woman, I wouldn't sleep with you. You stink, who knows what's wrong with you."
The man walked with a limp, cursing, "Your face is rotten, and so is your body. I thought I found a woman, but it turns out to be a ghost."
Chloe was slightly moved by these words, just about to turn her face when the limping man cursed, "Don't turn your face to me. You ugly broad, you want to scare me to death?"
