Chapter 407 Apologize
Right then, the car door flew open.
It was Robert's right-hand man, Zack!
Zack took one look at the bloody mess and his eyes nearly popped out of his head. He scooped up Robert and yelled, "Mr. Perot!"
Meanwhile, Molly was still in a daze, mumbling, "I killed him."
Zack lunged forward, snatched the phone from Molly, and smashed it against the seat.
He hated Molly's guts, wishing he could throw her in jail right then and there!
Even if it was an accident, with the Perot Group's money, they could make her life a living hell.
But right now, he was stuck. Robert had told him to protect Molly no matter what.
Even if Robert was hurt, he had to keep Molly safe!
Zack gritted his teeth and said, "If you don't wanna get arrested, you better behave!"
He reclined Robert's seat, shoved Molly in the back, and jumped into the driver's seat.
With the seat back, Robert's face was right up in Molly's space.
His usually tough face looked ghostly pale in the moonlight, like he was already dead.
Molly had never seen Robert so weak.
She tried to check his pulse, but her hands were shaking too much to do it.
The highway was dead quiet in the middle of the night.
Inside the car, the silence was even worse.
Molly hugged her knees, her mind a total mess.
She still couldn't believe she had stabbed Robert in her confusion.
Seeing him covered in blood, she freaked out.
A million thoughts raced through her mind, but the loudest one was, 'He's dead. Good.'
All the drama, the obsession, the hate—it would all be over.
Molly even thought, if he wasn't dead, she'd stab him again to make sure.
But when the chance was right there, she realized she couldn't do it.
She wanted him to face the music, admit his mistakes, and own up to the contract trap that drove her dad to his death.
Not like this. Otherwise, how was she any different from cold-blooded Robert?
Plus, she still had Taylor. She couldn't leave Taylor alone in this world. She had to be okay until Taylor was fully healthy, so she could keep the kid from harm's way, including his own father.
The car pulled up to a quiet villa.
Doctors and nurses rushed over with a stretcher and carried Robert inside.
Zack didn't go in but looked at Molly and said coldly, "Ms. Koch, this way."
Molly glanced at the creepy villa, feeling a chill run down her spine, and instinctively shrank back. "What do you want? I wanna go home."
Zack sneered, "You want to go home?"
"Yeah, or I can turn myself in. I didn't mean to; he was trying to rape me," Molly said.
"You seem pretty sure of yourself. Wanna check the car's dashcam?" Zack knew the whole story.
Even though Robert had a moment of madness, he didn't actually force her.
But Molly still stabbed the metal rod into Robert's gut.
The timing of her words and actions was almost perfect, but if Zack handled it, he'd definitely win!
Molly knew Zack was no joke. She closed her eyes and asked, "What do you want?"
"Nothing, just that," Zack paused, his voice icy, "Ms. Koch, you hurt Mr. Perot and now you wanna bail? That's kinda messed up, don't you think?"
Molly repeated, "I didn't mean to."
Zack didn't give a damn and yanked Molly out of the car by her arm.
"Get out and stay put until Mr. Perot wakes up!" he snapped.
Molly realized Zack wasn't gonna let her go.
Fine, she'd wait for Robert to wake up. Besides, this place looked like one of Robert's secret spots; maybe she could dig up some dirt.
She strolled in, trying to stay cool.
Behind her, Zack watched her with pure malice in his eyes.
He didn't share Robert's feelings. To him, Robert was everything.
If Robert didn't pull through, he wouldn't care about any orders. He'd drag Molly to hell with Robert.
At the Perot Mansion.
Lydia stepped out of the black Mercedes SUV.
She had wanted to sit in the front, but Kyle had dumped a big box there, and she was too shy to ask him to move it, so she ended up in the back.
Standing by the car, she looked at Kyle with a hopeful sparkle in her eyes, waiting for him to ask for her number.
It was kinda funny; they had a great evening but didn't even swap numbers.
Kyle saw Lydia standing there and said politely, "Ms. Perot, goodbye."
With that, he slowly rolled up the window, looking like he was about to leave.
'Is that it? Why isn't he asking for my number or anything? Is he waiting for me to make the first move?' A bunch of questions swirled in Lydia's mind.
Seeing the car about to leave, Lydia bit her lip and called out, "Kyle."
Kyle looked at her, and just one glance from him made Lydia's face turn red.
Kyle looked so neat and handsome, especially with those dreamy eyes.
Blushing, Lydia shyly said, "Did you forget something?"
"What?" Kyle asked, looking puzzled.
"My number." For the first time, Lydia took the initiative, her face turning even redder. "If you don't have my number, how will we keep in touch?"
"No need," Kyle said flatly.
"Huh?" Lydia was confused and thought Kyle didn't get it, so she blurted out, "Kyle, I really like..."
Kyle cut her off, his expression turning cold, "Ms. Perot, our meeting today is over."
"What?" Lydia was stunned, her voice trembling slightly. "Kyle, what do you mean?"
Kyle said coldly, "I agreed to meet you today because my family told me to. It's over now, and there won't be any follow-up."
"Kyle, what are you talking about? We had such a good time today," Lydia protested.
"Ms. Perot, you misunderstood. I'm not interested in you," Kyle said coldly.
"You're not interested in me?" Lydia was getting angry and pointed out, "Kyle, have you thought about what I can bring to you and your family?"
Kyle was being so dumb! A girlfriend like her would secure his spot in the Scott family.
Otherwise, he'd definitely be an outcast in the Scott family.
Lydia had never been so disrespected by anyone, but she really liked Kyle's face.
So she swallowed her pride and softly said, "I won't hold what you just said against you. Just apologize to me."
