Chapter 473 Abigail's Unusual Behaviour

Francis dragged Harper to a club, and she had no clue why he was doing this. Then he made her stand in front of this big screen, slapped some headphones on her, and said, "Watch this."

He disappeared into a room, hit a button on a remote, and the screen lit up with some hardcore porn, all flirty scenes and suggestive sounds, totally immersive.

Harper's hands flew to her mouth in shock.

Francis just stared at the screen, not even blinking, like it was no big deal.

Harper started to get what he was trying to prove. It was a full forty-five minutes of moans and groans, start to finish. Eventually, Harper yanked off the headphones.

When it finally ended, Francis turned off the screen, pulled her inside, and asked, "Did you see?"

Harper's face went beet red, feeling totally embarrassed.

Francis pulled out a report on his phone from some legit hospital. He said calmly, "After you left, for five whole years, I had zero interest in women. My mom freaked out and dragged me to the hospital, and this is the report."

It straight-up said he couldn't get aroused, thanks to some psychological trauma.

This blew Harper's mind. This was why Francis was so sure Audrey couldn't be carrying his kid.

He knew his body too well. For years, no woman did it for him. But the first time he saw Harper after she came back, he felt something.

Francis stared at her, voice all rough, "No one but you can turn me on."

"Stop it," Harper shouted.

Francis hugged her and asked, "Do you believe me now?"

He couldn't think of any other way, so he had to spill his own secret. As a guy, he hated talking about this stuff, but to prove his innocence, he didn't care. Without Harper, he'd never be happy.

"It's not that I don't believe you." Harper turned away, her voice all choked up, "We agreed not to hide anything, but you..."

She had her own issues. If Francis had told her back then, she wouldn't have been like this, and she wouldn't have felt so heartbroken when Abigail and Audrey ganged up on her.

Seeing her eyes fill with tears, Francis felt like his heart was being ripped apart. He hugged her, voice rough, "It's my fault. I thought I could handle it, but I messed everything up."

These days, like Audrey said, he was in a tough spot! If Francis didn't love Harper, he might've gone along with Audrey's plan to marry her and solve the crisis, like his parents wanted. It would've been the easy way out.

But he had Harper and Agnes, the two people who filled his mind. He couldn't let them down or give them up. He didn't want Harper stressing out, so he kept quiet about Audrey, who kept using the kid to mess with him.

Francis totally underestimated Audrey, and one wrong move left Harper feeling super hurt.

Hearing Francis's choked-up voice, Harper's heart ached. She knew Francis was going through just as much as she was.

Francis promised, "Harper, don't worry. I'll sort out this whole Audrey mess!"

Audrey's confidence had even Abigail wrapped around her finger. Francis was determined to get to the bottom of this kid situation.

He rested his chin on her hair and murmured, "You can be mad at me, but please, don't leave me."

When Harper didn't want to see him, he freaked out! It felt like his heart was being ripped out. He was so panicked he couldn't do anything.

Listening to Francis's heartbeat, Harper felt a lot better. They'd been through so much to be together, and they both needed to cherish this hard-won relationship.

She softly said, "I haven't left you."

If she really planned to leave him, she wouldn't have come downstairs. Harper was always decisive, and coming down meant she couldn't let go.

Hearing this, Francis felt overjoyed and hugged her even tighter. He said, "I promise you, from now on, I'll tell you everything, no matter what."

Harper whispered, "I know your company’s got a lot going on lately, and I don’t know how to help you."

Her concern filled Francis's chest with love. He lowered his head to kiss her cheek and said, "You can help me by just being here and keeping me on my toes."

That way, he could focus on dealing with those with ulterior motives.

Harper felt that Francis was really easy to please, and her heart instantly warmed. She paused and said, "There's something I need to discuss with you, about Agnes. I hope we can keep it a secret for now."

With so many worries, she didn't want Agnes to get hurt.

Francis got it and agreed, "Alright, let's wait until everything is sorted out."

Harper thought of something and suddenly asked, "Francis, do you think Abigail's been acting weird?"

Francis frowned and said, "Yeah, lately she's been super dependent on Audrey. I've tried talking to her, but she won't listen."

Harper recalled her recent run-ins with Abigail and remembered she looked kind of off, like she was mentally drained. To put it bluntly, it was like she had no soul.

Abigail was only in her fifties, but she seemed so different from her peers. Harper asked again, "Does Abigail have any health issues?"

Francis shook his head and said, "She had a check-up, no problems at all."

"Then take a look at this for me." Harper pulled out a square medicine box from her bag and handed it to Francis, saying, "I found this at the mall today, but I'm not sure if it's Abigail's."
