Chapter 515 Ruined Herself, and Ruined Him

Back in the day, Robert was so freaked out he didn't even check if that bloody mess was really his kid. In that moment, he just took her word for it. Thinking about it now, with all the tech they got, no way Molly could've pinned someone else's kid on him. So, Robert just accepted that his kid was gone.

But what the doc said yesterday got him all suspicious. He had someone dig into the doc who did the abortion back then. Turned out, the doc had a dizzy spell and let a nurse handle it, thinking it was no big deal. The surgery went fine, but it wasn't the doc who did it. So, who knew if someone messed with it.

Robert tracked down that nurse, only to find out she had moved abroad and vanished. Before she left, she suddenly got rich, like she was paid off. The whole thing smelled fishy to him.

Back then, Molly wasn't far enough along for a C-section. The doc said it was a medical abortion followed by a D&C. So why's the doc now saying there were signs of a C-section from five years ago?

Given the timeline, no way she had someone else's kid. The only thing that made sense was Molly secretly had the baby.

Robert suddenly grabbed Molly by the collar, not giving her a second to think, and demanded, "Molly, where's my kid?"

Robert's intense tone made Molly's eyes go blank for a moment. Then, out of nowhere, she slapped him hard across the face!

The slap was so loud, it echoed. Robert's face turned to the side from the impact. Instantly, his handsome face turned icy cold.

"Molly, you're asking for it," Robert growled.

"Robert!" Molly suddenly shouted, cutting him off, "You got the nerve to bring up that kid? Yeah, I kept the kid."

Molly admitted she bribed the nurse to secretly keep the baby back then. Because when the doc insisted on the surgery, the nurse had said, "This kid is so strong, it feels like it can be saved."

Half-conscious, Molly heard this and grabbed the nurse's hand, struggling to say, "Eighty grand, help me save this kid!"

At that time, Molly gave the nurse a diamond necklace that Harrison had given her. The nurse, half-tempted by the money and half out of compassion, actually did it. Afterward, Molly used Robert's arrogance to make him believe her without checking the truth.

Later, there was that fall at the sea, and the kid miraculously survived.

Robert finally snapped out of his shock, a mix of emotions making him grip Molly's shoulders tightly and roar, "Where's that kid?"

"Robert, did you forget what illness I had back then? When the kid was eight months old, my condition got worse, and I had to have a C-section. But he was too weak, didn't get enough nutrition from me, and died in the incubator within a week!"

Robert's expression finally cracked a bit. An eight-month-old kid, and they couldn't save him?

Molly sneered, "If you hadn't doubted my illness and kept tormenting me, maybe the kid wouldn't have died from lack of nutrition."

Robert clamped his lips shut, speechless.

"So, what are you trying to prove now?" Molly mocked, "Trying to prove you're a heartless jerk who killed his own kid?"

After a long pause, Robert finally spoke, "No, I didn't mean..."

He wanted to say he didn't mean to kill the kid, that he had even looked forward to a future with a child.

Because of his parents' tragic deaths, Robert was super against the idea of having kids and getting married. He thought he'd never have kids in this lifetime. Robert didn't want to pass on his bad luck. He was dark, violent, and couldn't be a good dad.

But if that kid was born to him by Molly, he had a tiny bit of hope.

But that hope was crushed by Molly's cold laugh. "Robert, that kid died because of you!"

Robert's hand slowly dropped. He had to admit, Molly was really good at messing with his emotions. They were two enemies who shared the same fate and knew each other too well.

After a while, Robert suddenly spoke in a rough voice, "It's just a kid, we can have another one."

Hearing this, every nerve in Molly's body trembled. She raised her hand again, wanting to slap him hard, but Robert grabbed her hand. Looking at her pale face and dry lips, Robert's voice softened a bit, "If you like kids, we can have another one. But for now, the most important thing is to take care of your health."

"Robert?" Molly looked at his face like she didn't recognize him, and said slowly, "I like kids, but it has nothing to do with you, got it? And you're giving me too much credit. Do you think I can still have kids with my current health?"

What she really wanted to say was that someone as heartless as Robert, someone who deserved to rot in hell, didn't deserve to have kids. She couldn't be fooled by Robert's fake concern for the kid now, as if he really cared. Once things turned against him, he'd immediately use the kid as a tool to threaten her. She knew him too well.

Robert thought about it and realized Molly's current health wasn't suitable for this topic. He changed the subject, "It's pretty easy to adopt a kid now. If you want a family member, we can adopt one."

Molly laughed, "Robert, do you think kids are toys to keep you entertained?"

She couldn't help but say, "Someone like you doesn't deserve to have kids."

Robert wasn't a patient guy. Being insulted by Molly repeatedly, his face darkened. But he thought of the intoxicating feeling by the window.

Men had a common flaw. When they knew a woman had no other men than themselves, many things became tolerable. Molly's self-discipline made Robert feel somewhat better. In the end, he just put his hands in his pockets, clenched his fists, and said coldly, "Get some rest."

Molly lowered her eyelids, as if she hadn't heard, and didn't respond. Robert looked down at her for a moment, then turned and strode out of the room.

It wasn't until the door closed that she lifted her thick eyelashes again, looking in the direction of the door.

Robert was too sharp. The seed of doubt about the kid hadn't vanished. It wouldn't be long before he found out about Taylor. The situation was getting urgent; she had to bounce with Taylor. If she wanted to leave without Robert catching on, she had to pull something that'd leave him totally blindsided. That meant wrecking herself and him.

After another week of rest, Molly asked to be discharged. Robert checked with the new doc. Considering the last doc got canned, this one was more careful. "The patient still needs plenty of rest at home to fully recover."

This doc's words were way more pleasant. Robert's face stayed calm as he asked, "How long does she need to keep taking the meds?"

The doc replied, "Three to five months, with monthly check-ups at the hospital."

Robert nodded and sent Zack to get the meds while he headed back to the room.

Molly didn't have much to pack; she hadn't brought anything to the hospital, as Robert had taken care of everything. Turning to her, Robert asked calmly, "Do you want to stay at Silverleaf Suites or the villa from last time?"

Molly's palms tightened, feeling like she'd been hit with a bucket of cold water, leaving her speechless for a long time. Both places felt like hellish prisons to her.

After a while, she finally replied, "Can't I stay at home?"

Robert chuckled lightly, like he was mocking her naivety, "You're not well. If you're with me, I can arrange for someone to take care of you."

This was just a polite way of saying it. If Molly still didn't get it, she'd be considered clueless. Robert was dead set on keeping her close, and she had no say in it.

Molly lowered her eyelashes, like she was giving in, and said softly, "Then tomorrow night. I'll go home and pack tonight."

"What's there to pack? I'll have someone do it." Robert's intention was to keep Molly from overdoing it, as she hadn't fully recovered.

Unexpectedly, Molly suddenly blew up. She turned sharply, her watery eyes staring at him without blinking, "Robert, do you have to be so controlling to keep me around? Do you know what this feels like? I feel like an animal you keep, not even deserving of my own thoughts."

Robert's lips tightened, his expression darkening, "That's not what I meant."

"Then what do you mean?" Molly's eyes reddened, and feeling embarrassed, she forcefully wiped away her tears, her voice muffled, "Yes, I agreed to listen to you, but now I just want the right to stay at home for one night, and you won't even give me that. Are you treating me like a person?"

If she insisted on staying home for one night with her usual tough attitude, Robert's suspicious nature would definitely refuse. But now, with her tear-filled eyes and pitiful sickly look, it would make him lower his guard.

Robert frowned slightly, his voice softening, "I didn't say no. Tomorrow night, I'll come to pick you up."

For the first time, he compromised with her.

"Let's go. I'll take you home now." Robert walked over and put his arm around her shoulders. Molly, still fuming, turned away, refusing to let him touch her.

"Don't want to go?" Robert rarely laughed genuinely. He bent down to scoop Molly up in his arms and walked out of the room.

"Hey!" Molly, suddenly off balance, clung to Robert's neck in fright, angrily saying, "Robert, put me down."

Robert, in a good mood, chuckled and asked, "I thought you didn't want to walk."

"I didn't say that, I just..." Molly stopped mid-sentence. Robert looked up and saw Kyle being pushed in a wheelchair for a check-up across two corridors.

Sensing the gaze, Kyle turned his head and looked deeply in their direction. But that look wasn't at Robert; it was at Molly in his arms.

Robert lowered his head and caught Molly's returning gaze. This silent, understanding exchange made his heart feel like it was on fire.

"What are you looking at?" Robert said coldly.

"Nothing." Molly quickly looked away, but Robert still noticed her stiff body.

Once, her eyes were also full of Robert. But time and misunderstandings made it impossible to return to that time.

Molly lowered her eyes, though she looked away, she could still feel that clean gaze, making her feel ashamed. She was grateful that the glass couldn't transmit their voices that day.

But this was self-deception; Kyle must have known she was being tormented by Robert.

Soon, Kyle was pushed away, disappearing from their sight. Robert felt extremely uncomfortable, saying nothing as he quickly took the elevator down, carrying Molly to the car.

As he placed her in the passenger seat, he leaned in angrily, biting her lips. Molly was caught off guard by his sudden invasion. Her lips were blocked, making it hard to breathe, causing both suffocation and pain.

She raised her hand to push him away, but Robert, in his domineering and forceful manner, was too strong for her. Unable to resist, Molly scratched his face, leaving a long mark near his ear with her half-grown nails.

The pain brought Robert back to his senses. He grabbed her chin, furious, "Why were you looking at him? Wasn't the lesson that day enough, huh? Or was the lesson I gave him not enough?"

Molly's lips were bleeding from his bites, hurting with every movement. "Robert, your worry is unnecessary." She gently wiped her lips and suddenly laughed meaningfully, "A woman as dirty as me doesn't deserve him."

Her voice was light, but it carried a deep sense of inferiority and self-deprecation. Robert grew even angrier. Dirty? Was it because she had slept with him that she felt dirty?

Just as his rage was about to become uncontrollable, Molly suddenly grabbed his tie, pulling him close, and whispered in his ear, "That's right. You're so dirty, and you tainted me. Now..."

Molly bit his Adam's apple hard, venting her anger. Then she wiped her mouth and said disdainfully, "We're both dirty now."

This action easily calmed Robert's anger. Robert wasn't an ordinary person; he had to be dealt with in unconventional ways.

His Adam's apple bobbed as he laughed lowly, "Isn't this better? We're a perfect match."

Then, Robert placed one knee between her legs, the other leg too long to fit inside. He cupped her face and kissed her deeply, much gentler than before, with a sense of exploration.

Right there in the open parking lot, he didn't even close the car door, wanting to make love to her.
