Chapter 298 She's Back
Robert's eyes went blood-red with rage in an instant!
Propping himself up, he wanted to crush the woman in his arms.
Just then, a black high heel stomped on his right hand.
The woman's voice was icy, "You."
She twisted the heel into his hand, like she wanted to pierce his palm.
"Are like a stray dog no one wants!" she said, then walked away.
"Molly!" Robert finally broke free.
"Don't go!" he shouted, his voice hoarse, metallic-tasting in his mouth.
The blue limo's taillights blinked, mocking him.
"Don't go." His cries were drowned out by the car's roar.
"Don't go. Please don't go." Tears streamed down his face as he screamed into the wind, but there was no response until Zack showed up.
That night, Zack drove Robert all over Northfield looking for Molly.
The sky was starting to lighten.
Zack hesitated. "Mr. Perot, you drank a lot last night. Want some medicine?"
Zack thought Robert was hallucinating.
Molly had been dead for five years.
Robert sat in the back seat, his black shirt dirty, his face showing undeniable despair.
He looked at the bloody mark on his hand and said, "She's back."
Zack still thought Robert was seeing things.
If Molly were alive, then who was in Robert's house?
Zack didn't want to think about it; it gave him chills.
Harper was getting ready to go to the studio in the morning.
She got in the car and saw the driver was Jasper. "Jasper, not busy today?"
"Nah, I'll take you," Jasper said, looking upset, with a cut on his lip.
Harper asked, "Jasper, what happened to your lip? Did Agnes scratch you?"
Jasper's eyes flickered. "No idea. Maybe I bumped into something?"
Harper didn't think much of it and felt concerned. "How could you be so careless?"
Jasper touched his lip, feeling a sting.
He regretted drinking that wine last night.
He pushed the thoughts away and asked Harper, "How are things with that guy?"
Harper knew he meant Francis and nodded, "Manageable."
Apart from being unpredictable, Francis was easy to deal with.
A month would pass quickly, and she didn't think Francis would break his word.
By then, the divorce would be finalized, and everything would be fine.
Jasper thought of the determined look in Francis's eyes and felt worried.
The image of Harper lying lifeless on the bed was still vivid in his mind, and he didn't want them to have too much contact.
Harper should have grown up like a princess, but a small mistake made her suffer with Francis.
If it weren't for Harper wanting to finish their mother's business, Jasper would never have agreed to her return.
Jasper lowered his eyes. "Harper, why don't I find a lawyer? The Getty Group's legal team is tough, but not unbeatable."
Legal battles were easier said than done.
Harper had checked out the Getty Group's legal team; they never lost a case.
The thought of a long, drawn-out process was daunting.
Harper had no memory of Francis but had to bear the title of his wife, which was unbearable.
She thought for a moment. "Jasper, let me try again. If it doesn't work, I'll listen to you."
"Okay." Jasper looked at her gently. "If you feel wronged, you must tell me, okay?"
"Don't worry, Jasper. I'll take care of myself." Before getting out of the car, Harper remembered something. "Jasper, do you know any suitable men?"
"Hmm?" Jasper was confused.
"If you do, introduce one to Jessica," Harper said.
Jasper frowned. "Does Jessica want that?"
Harper nodded. "I mentioned it to her, and she didn't object."
Jasper's face didn't look good. "First, solve your own problems."
In other words, he would take care of Jessica.
Harper was uneasy, afraid that crazy Oscar would come back and no one would protect Jessica.
After getting out of the car, she asked Jasper, "Has Vincent returned from his trip?"
Vincent Perry was Jasper's longtime friend, wealthy, handsome, and single.
Seeing Jasper's indifference, Harper thought she would set Jessica up herself.
"Yeah, he came back yesterday. Why do you ask?"
Harper had a plan and smiled. "Nothing, just take care."
She took out her phone and texted Vincent: [Vincent, are you busy?]
Vincent replied quickly: [Nope, what's up?]
Harper: [Want to have dinner tonight and meet a potential girlfriend? Interested?]
There was a long pause before a reply came just before the end of the workday.
Vincent: [Sure.]
Harper sighed in relief, having thought Vincent wouldn't agree. [See you tonight, Vincent.]
At that moment, another text popped up on her phone.
Francis: [What are you doing?]
Harper replied briefly: [Busy.]
She got busy and didn't check her phone again.
In the evening, Harper met Vincent at the restaurant, but Jessica was stuck in traffic and couldn't make it.
After waiting a while, Jessica called to say she had a last-minute issue.
Harper hung up and looked apologetically at Vincent. "Vincent, I'm sorry, the introduction won't happen tonight."
"No problem." Vincent didn't show any disappointment; he actually looked relieved.
Harper smiled. "Then tonight's on me. To welcome you back."
"Alright."
They chatted happily over dinner, sharing stories and experiences.
Halfway through the meal, a waiter brought a bottle of wine to their table.
Harper knew the wine was worth thousands.
Before she could react, the waiter said, "It's from the gentleman in the private room upstairs."
Harper instinctively looked up and saw a pair of cold eyes staring at her.
