Chapter 616 That Is Your Child
Molly had a hunch that Kyle was here too, since this was the top hospital in Northfield. The Scott family always claimed they cared about Kyle, so they'd definitely bring him to the best place, especially since this hospital was famous for orthopedics. So, chances were, he was here.
Katya felt bad for Molly but couldn't promise anything, so she just said, "Ms. Koch, I'll do my best."
Molly grabbed Katya's hand, all excited. "Thank you, Katya."
After that, Katya went about her usual routine, heading home after her shift and then coming back to work.
Robert was super cautious this time. Even the caregivers had bodyguards escorting them home, keeping an eye on them. But Molly figured this was Zack's doing, 'cause Robert wouldn't bother with stuff like this.
Zack was being extra careful with Molly this time since she'd outsmarted him twice, and he was fuming. Zack couldn't really get Robert's feelings, only sensing that his emotions towards Molly were somewhere between hate and love. It was hard to explain and even harder to understand.
Anyway, it was the first time Zack had seen two people who hated each other so much yet were so tangled up with each other.
After a few days, Katya finally found a chance. She'd been bringing some homemade dishes for the driver who picked her up.
The driver, used to fancy city food, really liked these dishes that reminded him of his childhood and got friendly with Katya.
Katya made some more dishes for him. One day, while the driver was eating in the car, he got food poisoning from some takeout. Katya invited the driver to her home to take some medicine and rest.
This driver wasn't driving for the boss, so he didn't have many rules. Plus, Katya was old enough to be the driver's mom, and her husband was at home, so he went.
Katya used the excuse of going out to buy groceries and left. This time, without the driver tailing her, she disguised herself, put on a hat, and headed back to the hospital.
She asked around in the male ward for a long time before finding Kyle's room. But there were guards outside Kyle's room. She waited forever but couldn't find a chance.
Katya was in a tough spot, but she didn't want to give up. Molly had been so kind to her, finding a tutor for her son, a famous teacher who usually had a long waitlist and charged a lot. Not to mention the wait, she couldn't even afford the money.
Thanks to Molly's introduction, this famous teacher agreed to tutor her son for free. This was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. So, Katya was determined to help Molly with this today.
Katya waited forever but still couldn't find a chance, so she went outside and looked at the second-floor window from downstairs.
Just then, a kid was playing with a remote-controlled airplane, and Katya got an idea. She walked up to the kid and asked, "Can you use your airplane to deliver something to that window?"
The kid was super agreeable and immediately said yes. Katya slipped a note into the kid's airplane and sent it up to the second-floor window.
The airplane hovered at the window, and the kid made it knock three times, but there was no response. The kid didn't give up and knocked a few more times until the window finally opened.
Katya saw a gentle face, a young man who looked really handsome and seemed to be in a wheelchair. Katya couldn't help but take a few more glances. Unlike Robert's distant handsomeness, this young man had a warm and charming look.
Katya was happy for Molly, thinking it should be a sunny and warm guy who loved her. If both people were gloomy, it wouldn't end well.
Kyle took the note and looked down. Katya waved, and he saw her, then nodded in response.
Kyle quickly scribbled something on the note, tied a few pieces of imported chocolate to the airplane as a thank-you gift for the kid, and sent it back.
Katya checked the time, grabbed the note, and left. When she got home, her heart was pounding, but luckily the driver was still resting.
In the afternoon, when she got to the hospital, Katya found a chance to give the note to Molly.
Molly waited until late at night to open the note. It was written in Kyle's strong and elegant handwriting.
Kyle: [Can't contact for now, working on it.]
Molly's heart sank because his words meant they couldn't reach Taylor. She was really scared; it had been several days since she last contacted Taylor and Isadora.
Isadora had always been with Molly and would know something was wrong. Molly had once told Isadora that if she couldn't be reached, she should take Taylor abroad immediately, where everything was arranged. She didn't know if Isadora had left by now.
Molly tossed and turned, unable to sleep, her mind filled with worries about Taylor and Isadora's safety. She didn't even notice that Robert hadn't shown up for many days.
When Robert reappeared, it was ten days later. Molly had been moved from the ward to one of Robert's villas.
When he showed up in front of Molly again, she felt something was different. The usually cold-hearted guy seemed to have gained a bit of humanity. Robert's tone and emotions gave off a positive vibe, which was not a good sign for Molly.
Before Molly could think more, Robert asked, "Are you comfortable here?"
Molly didn't answer him but asked back, "When will you take me to see Kyle? You promised me."
Robert glanced at her and sneered. "I think there's someone you want to see more than Kyle."
Molly tensed up and asked, "Who?"
Robert stared at her, his eyes very mysterious.
Molly got more nervous and asked again, her voice trembling, "Robert, just say it. Who are you talking about?"
Without hesitation, Robert snapped his fingers, and a very familiar pair appeared at the top of the stairs. Isadora was supporting Taylor, and they quickly walked over when they saw Molly.
Isadora's tears fell before she could speak, "Ms. Koch."
Taylor looked at Molly in a daze, too scared to speak. For Taylor, Molly was the mom he wanted to love but was too scared to get close to.
They hadn't spent much time together. Taylor was only familiar with Isadora and Kyle, and now there was Robert, who claimed to be his dad.
Molly stood frozen, like she had turned to stone, unable to move. She thought, 'How could this be? How could they be here?' At that moment, Molly wished she were dreaming, that all of this was fake.
Robert stepped forward, slowly squatted down, and gently held Taylor's shoulders from behind, saying softly, "Taylor, call her Mom."
Taylor lifted his eyelids, his eyes full of longing. Molly trembled all over, her fingers digging into her palms so hard that they left bloody marks.
She wanted to scream, but she couldn't. She was afraid of scaring Taylor. Unable to control herself, she could only shake all over.
"Mom," Taylor called uncertainly.
Molly's eyes began to fill with tears, and she finally couldn't hold back. She started with a few sobs, then gradually grew louder. Taylor walked closer and hugged her, crying in fear. "Mom."
After crying for a while, Molly wiped her tears and said to Taylor, "Go play with Isadora for a bit. I'll come find you later."
Taylor obediently nodded and walked towards Isadora. Isadora looked at Molly, wanting to say something but ultimately didn't dare because Robert was there. She took Taylor and left.
After their figures disappeared, Molly collapsed to the ground as if all her strength had left her. Her support seemed to have crumbled, leaving her completely suppressed with no room to turn things around.
"Robert," Molly called him wearily, "Tell me, what do you want? Or rather, what are you planning?"
Robert looked at her with a mocking gaze. "Molly, first tell me, whose child is he?" He had investigated for a long time and finally had a clue. He couldn't believe it at first, at least not until he found Taylor.
But after seeing Taylor in that yard, all of Robert's doubts vanished. This was his child. He didn't even need a paternity test; they looked exactly alike.
But to make Molly admit it, Robert still did the test, and the result showed that Taylor was his child. Molly had secretly given birth to his child.
Even though he already knew the result, Robert still wanted to hear her say it herself. He took a step closer, looking down at her. "Say it, whose child is he?"
Molly stiffened, then bit her lip and said, "He's my child."
Robert laughed coldly, his voice eerily frightening. "Your child, fine!"
"Zack!" he called out.
Zack immediately appeared at the door. "Mr. Perot, what are your orders?"
"Throw that child out the window!" Robert's voice was exceptionally ruthless and merciless.
Zack froze, not moving for a moment. Molly's nails dug into the carpet, one of them breaking and bleeding, a horrifying sight.
Robert said coldly, "Throw him out now!"
Zack nodded. "Okay." He would do anything Robert asked, even if it meant cutting out his own heart.
"No!" Molly screamed. Molly couldn't stay silent any longer. Robert was pushing her to the edge, forcing her to admit it.
"Robert, are you crazy?" Molly shouted, "That's your child, you can't do this!"
She rushed forward and grabbed Robert's pant leg tightly, pleading incoherently, "Let Taylor go, kill me instead."
Molly added, "He shouldn't be with someone like you." Taylor couldn't handle Robert's cold-blooded, twisted education.
If the child she had gone through so much to give birth to was raised to be as cold and ruthless as Robert, doing all kinds of evil, she would rather have never given birth to him.
"Let him go." Molly continued to cry desperately.
Robert lifted Molly up, his expression fierce. "Molly, what was your purpose in giving birth to this child? Was it to get back at me, to deliver a fatal blow?"
Molly didn't understand what he was saying.
"If you gave birth to him, you should have settled down. Why did you seduce other men?" Robert's eyes were filled with anger. "You want my child to call another man father? Do you want to die?"
Robert's grip was tight, almost choking Molly as he held her by the collar.
"I want to die, I really want to die. All my family is dead, I shouldn't be alive!" Molly laughed and cried, as if she had gone mad.
"But he survived. He was so strong, surviving in my disease-ridden body, strong enough to scare me." Molly was talking about Taylor.
Taylor's birth was extremely dangerous. But Taylor was destined to come into this world.
Molly cursed, "Robert, I hate you, I wish you were dead. Why don't you just die, it would be better!"
"Not pretending anymore?" Robert sneered.
"Too bad, I'm alive, and I'm doing well. Even if I die, I'll take you with me. I love you that much," After saying the last sentence, Robert was stunned, then laughed maniacally. "Molly, turns out I love you."
Robert laughed bitterly, tears streaming down his face. He loved her, but she didn't love him anymore.
Molly only felt terror. "Do you really love me? You've tortured me to this point, this isn't love, it's selfish possessiveness. You're extremely selfish, a real jerk, and just plain awful."
Molly had had enough. Her last card had been revealed, so she might as well destroy everything. No one needed to pretend anymore.
Robert wasn't angry at all. Hearing her insults, he actually laughed. "It doesn't matter, I don't need you to love me. I have my ways." He said, "Molly, I'm taking this child back."
Robert was blatantly threatening to take Taylor away. Molly felt like she was going crazy. "That's my child, what right do you have to take him?"
Robert coldly slapped the paternity test in Molly's face. "Because I'm his father."
"Molly, you want to fight me for him? What right do you have? Do you think you can take the child from me?" Robert wasn't mocking her, because he could easily legally transfer Taylor to his name. Molly's medical history alone showed she wasn't a suitable guardian.
"You've always wanted to leave, to see Kyle, right?" Robert smirked and pointed to the door. "You can leave now."
