Chapter 470 So Embarrassing

Audrey froze, looked up, and said, "Ms. Murphy, I'm doing this for your own good. You're kinda a public figure. Don't you care about your studio's rep?"

Harper's face twisted at that.

Someone yelled, "That chick's got some nerve!"

Another chimed in, "So shameless!"

Harper ignored the noise and smirked, "Does Mr. Getty know you're here?"

Audrey's eyes darted nervously. "Is that necessary? I'm carrying his kid. So, yeah, I speak for him now."

"Oh, you speak for him?" Harper pulled out her phone, disconnected the Bluetooth, and put it on speaker. "Mr. Getty, you catch all that?"

Audrey and Abigail were stunned. When did Harper call Francis? They had no clue. So Francis heard everything?

Before they could react, Francis's deep voice came through the phone, "Where are you? I'm coming over now."

Harper's voice turned icy, "I just want to clear one thing up. Is what she said true?"

She needed to hear it straight from him.

Francis replied quickly, "Harper, that kid's got nothing to do with me. Wait for me. I'm coming over now!"

"No need, I got this," Harper said, hanging up.

Audrey went pale, too scared to speak. When the call ended, she finally found her voice. "Are you nuts? Why'd you call him?"

Harper shot back, "Ms. Hernandez, remember when you called me during my marriage to Mr. Getty, pretending to be his fiancée?"

The crowd realized Harper was the victim. Audrey had been lying and wrecked Harper's marriage. Someone hissed, "So she's the other woman."

The crowd laughed.

Audrey's face turned ghostly.

Harper sneered, "Of course I'd call to check if your story's true. This ain't your first lie."

Audrey was livid, gritting her teeth. "Cut the crap. You're just trying to mess things up between us!"

Harper mocked, "Ms. Hernandez, I thought you were just a bit nasty, but you turn out to be a pro at dirty tricks."

Harper's eyes landed on Audrey's belly, and she smirked, "You know where this kid really came from."

Audrey's heart skipped a beat, and she snapped, "Stop talking nonsense."

Her eyes flashed with rage, but with people watching, she could only clutch her belly and cry, "This kid is Francis's."

Abigail backed her up, "I can vouch for that. Don't you dare accuse us."

They teamed up against Harper. Before Harper could respond, someone nearby said, "Hey, we all heard it. The guy said it wasn't his."

Another added, "Yeah! We felt bad for you, but turns out you and your mother-in-law are ganging up on her!"

Someone else said, "This mother-in-law was just stirring the pot against her ex-daughter-in-law. Having a mother-in-law like that is bad luck!"

A dude in the crowd muttered, "Birds of a feather, man. These two are cut from the same cloth."

A lady spat, "Gross."

Everyone started buzzing.

Just a minute ago, Audrey and Abigail were all smug while Harper got roasted, but now the tables had turned. Audrey's face went from furious to ghostly white, and she pulled the classic fainting act. Abigail quickly called for her assistant.

Audrey's bodyguard, Jonathan, rushed over and scooped her up without a second thought. Before leaving, he shot Harper a death glare and said, "If anything happens to Ms. Hernandez, you're gonna pay."

Isla stepped up, glaring right back. "Your boss is a piece of work, fainting out of guilt. What’s that got to do with us? Aren't you ashamed to work for someone like her? Seems like you fit right in."

The crowd was stunned. Audrey's bodyguard was just as bad. They had totally misjudged Harper. She was the real victim here.

Someone piped up, "I saw everything. Ms. Hernandez fainted out of pure embarrassment. This lady didn't touch her."

Another added, "Yeah, I saw it too. It's ridiculous. The bodyguard's holding her so close, who knows whose kid it really is."

Another voice chimed in, "Yeah, they must've done this a bunch of times. They looked way too practiced."

Audrey, still pretending to be out cold, felt her face burn. She gritted her teeth and said, "Put me down."

Jonathan hesitated, "Ms. Hernandez, you..."

Audrey jumped down herself.

Abigail looked uncomfortable too. Audrey's whole vibe screamed that she'd been held like that plenty of times and didn't think twice about it until people started talking. But to keep up appearances, Abigail had her assistant support Audrey.

They practically ran away, it was so embarrassing!

In the elevator, Audrey turned to Jonathan, ice-cold, "My dad hired you to protect me. You need to read the room. I wasn't in any real danger. Don't be so reckless next time, got it?"

Jonathan hung his head, "I'm sorry, Ms. Hernandez. I was an idiot and embarrassed you."

Then he slapped himself hard, one on each cheek, until his mouth bled.

Abigail watched, shocked. She'd started to suspect Jonathan because of what the crowd said. After all, every time she saw Audrey, Jonathan was always there, way too close. But now, those doubts vanished with the sound of those slaps.

Abigail quickly said, "Enough. Enough. He's just not the sharpest tool in the shed. He doesn't get these rules."

Audrey frowned, "Alright, I'll dock your pay for three months. No more screw-ups, got it?"

Jonathan nodded, stepped back, and quietly wiped the blood from his mouth.

After they got out of the elevator, Audrey saw Abigail into her car, then headed back to her own. As soon as she sat down, Jonathan followed her in.

Audrey's sweet and gentle act dropped, replaced by a fierce look. "Get on your knees," she hissed.
