Chapter 278 Leave For Good

Harper was caught off guard and fell backward, but luckily, Francis was there to catch her in time.

"What do you mean she's yours, you lunatic? She wanted to leave you even in death. She definitely wouldn't want you to touch her. Let go of her." Harper tried to grab the body again, but Francis restrained her hands from behind to prevent her from moving forward.

Having known each other for years, Francis could tell that Robert was deranged.

He feared Harper might get hurt and said in a low voice, "Calm down; he might hurt you."

Robert held Molly's corpse from day to night, sitting like a monk, completely still.

Until Zack came to urge him, Robert uttered chilling words from his thin lips. "I'm taking her home."

He wanted to take her back to Silverleaf Suites, the place with the most memories for them.

Zack's face changed drastically, and he stammered, "Mr. Perot, how can you take her back?"

"Go and buy an ice coffin home." Robert demanded.

Zack's eyes widened in horror. Crazy! Robert must be crazy!

He planned to keep a body at his house.

But at this moment, Zack didn't dare to say more, so he followed Robert's orders.

Soon, the burial date was set, and Harper and the others were all present.

No one knew that Molly's body was not inside.

After the mourning, Harper didn't want to see Robert and left soon.

Harper didn't want to greet him; He was a hypocrite and not worth pitying.

On the way back, Francis's phone rang.

It was Victor calling to say that Chloe's condition was not good and she wanted to see him.

Harper heard everything clearly and suddenly reached out to open the car door.

A screech of brakes rang out.

Francis stopped the car, grabbed her, and shouted, "Are you crazy?"

Harper was in a very bad mood and forcefully shook him off. "Go away! Leave me alone."

Harper's pinky fingers scratched the back of Francis's right hand, but he didn't care much.

He just frowned and said, "Don't be ridiculous; we're on the highway. Where do you want to go?"

Harper said coldly, "Aren't you going to see your kid's mom? Go ahead, I can go back by myself."

"What kid's mom?" Francis re-gripped her hands and said in a sullen voice, "How many times do I have to tell you that's not my child?"

After what happened with Molly, Harper was already heartbroken and didn't even have the patience to argue. "Francis, do you think I'm an idiot? If it's not your child, why would they need to find you when something happens? I've already sent the divorce papers to your email. Please take a look, sign them, and then go be a good dad, okay?"

The divorce papers made Francis's nerves twitch.

His whole face turned cold, and he shouted, "Harper, I don't want to hear the word, divorce, again!"

Harper really couldn't understand why Francis didn't want a divorce while having a child with Chloe.

Was he planning to make her the stepmother of their child? Ridiculous!

Just thinking about what Chloe had done made Harper's teeth grind in hatred; she would never be kind enough to help raise her child. "Francis, don't push me too far. Are you planning to make me take care of your child? Nice dream. I'd rather raise a cat or a dog than Chloe's child!"

Harper was so disgusted by Francis that she almost threw up.

"I never said you had to raise it." Francis frowned, "What on earth are you thinking?"

Thinking? Just thinking about that child made Harper unable to let go; her heart clenched tightly.

These baseless words sounded ridiculous even to Francis.

He had also stood by Chloe's side countless times in the past, indulging her slander against Harper.

This connection between Francis and Chloe was something she couldn't intervene in.

So, Harper wouldn't expect Francis to seek justice from Chloe because of the child.

"That child is Sunny's!" Francis looked at her deeply concerned expression and suddenly dropped a bombshell.

Harper's eyes widened and asked, "What?"

She really didn't expect Chloe and Sunny, who seemed like people from two different worlds, to be together.

"It's Sunny's," Francis repeated.

Francis's long fingers brushed her hair, and he said calmly, "That's all I can say for now. You have to trust me; I'll tell you everything one day."

Even revealing this information posed certain risks for Francis.

Recently, Ryan had been going crazy, using all sorts of tactics to seize power.

Sunny held decisive evidence to bring down Ryan, and he had secretly hidden that document as a safeguard for himself.

When Sunny got into trouble and was sent to prison after Ryan caused this mess, Sunny contacted Francis from prison. As long as Francis could help him protect the child in Chloe's womb, he would cooperate unconditionally once he got out.

Francis now needed Ryan to mistakenly believe that Chloe's child was his so that Ryan would lower his guard.

These matters were too complicated; the less Harper knew, the better.

He just needed to wait for three months, and he could completely bring down Ryan.

Thinking about Molly's death, Francis felt a constant unease in his heart.

Harper's behavior was very strange. If she wasn't sad, she had just cried her heart out at Robert's as if she would kill him at any minute.

If she was sad, something still felt off.

Francis stared at her intently and said with his voice slightly hoarse, "Harper, you're not going to leave me, right?"

If he had to choose, he would rather keep her locked up for three months than let her escape.

Moreover, Harper constantly brought up divorce.

Harper felt the controlling desire in Francis's eyes, and her heart tightened slightly.

Angering him now would do her no good, so she had to lie, "I won't."

Then, Harper raised her delicate face and pleaded softly, "Francis, I can stop working, but don't keep me locked up. It makes me feel like a prisoner."

Francis looked at her indifferently as if trying to discern the truth in her words.

Harper choked up, her voice choked with emotion, "Molly is gone. I'm devastated, and you keep locking me up. Do you even see me as a human?"

"Don't cry." Francis reached out to wipe the tears from the corner of her eyes, finally softening his heart, and said, "You can go out, but you have to let the bodyguards go with you. Don't stay out too long, understand?"

Harper's face turned pale; this was just another kind of prison.

Oh well, it was better than not being able to go out at all.

After dropping Harper back at Tranquil Haven Retreat, Francis still left.

Where he went was obvious.

Harper thought she no longer cared, but seeing Francis go to Chloe still touched the old wounds in her heart.

She hated Chloe and also hated Francis.

Thinking about her plan to leave, Harper was unusually obedient. Even though Francis had allowed her to go out, she still stayed in the house for two days.

And Francis hadn't come over in the past two days either as he was probably with Chloe.

The bodyguards reported her every move to Francis daily.

But Harper had been so obedient these two days that Francis was very satisfied, and the bodyguards let their guard down.

On the third day, Harper told the bodyguards she wanted to go out.

Harper went to a photography studio where she and Molly had taken photos in wedding dresses before the incident.

Today, Harper was there to pick up the photos and then leave.

Rhodes had already arranged an escape route for her; she was going to leave for good.

At the photography studio, the bodyguards waited in the car outside.

Harper waited in the VIP section on the second floor for the customer service to bring the photos. She deliberately spilled water on her clothes and bought a set of casual clothes from the studio to change into.

The attendant pointed to the changing room down the left hallway and smiled, "Feel free to use it."

As Harper passed the stairwell, she saw a tall figure coming up the stairs.

Upon closer inspection, it was Francis!

Immediately, Harper was so scared that she ducked into the nearest changing room and missed the sign that said "Reserved Room."

Inside the changing room, Harper was still trembling. This place was for taking wedding photos; why was Francis here?

Did he know about her plan and come to catch her?

At that moment, a familiar voice came from the adjacent changing room, as if someone was on the phone.

"I'm trying on wedding dresses. Francis is here to take wedding photos with me." It was Chloe.

Instantly, Harper's heart plummeted! So, they were here to take wedding photos.

Harper's hands clenched tightly, a mocking smile tugging at her lips, but she couldn't stop the tears from falling.

Francis had lied to her again!
