Chapter 176 How Could Anyone Expect His Ex-wife to Remain Chaste for Him After Their Divorce?

Keith was already an adult and naturally understood the meaning of Harper's ambiguous proposal.

He took a deep look at Harper, her makeup-free face exceptionally fair and delicate.

Under the warm light, Keith could even see the fine hairs on her cheeks, which made her face look very kissable.

Keith stared for a moment and felt a slight physiological desire.

He looked at her, his gaze deep, and asked, "Would it be convenient for me to take a shower here?"

Harper felt ashamed under his gaze and softly murmured, "I'm sorry, Keith, but it's not really convenient right now.."

She had intended to use him, but on second thought, he might not be willing, so she immediately admitted her mistake.

She had to solve her problems herself.

Harper stood up and said, "I'll get you a towel to wipe off."

But her wrist was suddenly grabbed. She looked over in confusion, and Keith's slightly cool eyes glimmered as he said, "I can help you."

Seeing her puzzled expression, Keith's lips curved slightly, and he said slowly, "I'm your boyfriend, aren't I?"

Harper wasn't sure if it was her imagination, but Keith's voice seemed to carry a hint of coaxing.

Before she could answer, Keith stood up, took off his jacket, and started unbuttoning his shirt, saying, "I'm going to take a shower."

Sure enough, not long after Keith entered the bathroom, Harper heard the doorbell.

Harper walked over and saw Francis standing outside through the peephole. She hesitated before opening the door.

Francis, however, stopped ringing the bell and started knocking on the door.

Afraid of disturbing the neighbors, Harper quickly opened the door.

As the door opened, Francis's gaze fell directly on Harper's face without any hesitation.

She was wearing a bathrobe, her hair still wet as it looked like she had just taken a shower.

Although they were said apart for a few days, it felt like months to him, and his longing became unbearable.

But what about her?

She happily went shopping with friends and treated him like a stranger, without any emotional fluctuation.

Now, face to face, he could still feel her indifference.

At that moment, Francis felt a sharp pain in his chest.

It turned out she really wanted to cut ties with him completely. She was not just throwing a tantrum or saying it casually.

She truly wanted to end things with him, completely and without any lingering feelings.

Thinking of this, he felt empty inside, his hands clenched slightly, his voice low, and he said, "I didn't mean to push you today."

Harper wasn't surprised and nodded. "It's okay."

Actually, if she calmed down and thought about it, she would know that she and Francis weren't enemies, and he had no reason to embarrass her in public.

She had felt a bit upset at the time, but it soon passed.

Because she no longer had high expectations for Francis, she wasn't that angry.

But who was he trying to shake off at that time? Was it Lily?

But these weren't her concerns; Francis was always unpredictable.

Harper's indifferent attitude made Francis feel a crushing pain in his heart.

He didn't dare to be too aggressive, afraid of scaring her, so he pretended to be calm, looked down at her ankle, and asked, "Is your ankle badly sprained?"

Harper replied, "It's fine."

Her continued cold responses ignited Francis's anger instantly.

He suddenly grabbed her wrist and said, "Don't you..."

His words abruptly stopped, and Francis pushed her away.

His eyes were fixed on the man's jacket on the sofa and the sound of water from the bathroom. He felt like a slap in the face.

His face visibly turned cold, and he looked at Harper, his eyes narrowing slightly. "Who is it?"

Harper didn't speak, so Francis leaned in, his handsome face close to hers, his tone tinged with menace. "Tell me."

Harper looked at him calmly and said, "Mr. Getty, first of all, I'm not your employee, and there's nothing between us. I don't see why I need to report to you that I have a boyfriend."

The man's face turned even darker. He sneered and pushed her aside to look for the person.

But Harper blocked him, and her tone was icy as she said, "Mr. Getty, this is my home. You have no right to come in."

His jaw clenched, anger rising. "Harper, it has just been a few days, and you've already found yourself a boyfriend?"

Harper looked at him like he was crazy.

"Mr. Getty, I'm still young. What makes you think I can't have a boyfriend? Besides, I'm single. I'm not cheating on you."

"Moreover, aren't you doing the same thing? It's the twenty-first century; how can a man expect his ex-wife to remain chaste for him after a divorce?" Harper said.

Francis was at a loss for words and felt a sharp pain in his heart.

He suddenly realized that he was more and more losing control of his emotions when facing her.

He stared at her, his eyes darkening like a deep pool, and the danger within them was evident. "Harper, have you forgotten the consequences of provoking me?"

But Harper wasn't afraid. She lifted her eyes with a light smile and said, "Mr. Getty, don't forget. You promised not to bother me anymore. I hope you can respect yourself and keep your promise. Don't come back to me. It will only make me despise you."

Harper returned the words Lily had used to humiliate her in the mall today, word for word, to Francis.

It was clear that his girlfriend had been jealous of the wrong person, as the one who was more entangled was obviously Francis.

Francis's thin lips pressed tightly together, his body tensing up.

With just a few light words, Harper had dismissed all his humble attempts to reconcile.

He could even clearly see the disgust and avoidance in her eyes.

At this moment, all his pride and arrogance were almost instantly shattered.

Francis's Adam's apple bobbed as he explained, "Lily and I aren't what you think. I was just..."

Francis paused and suddenly felt spechless.

Harper clearly showed no interest, and did not care about whether he was involved with another woman.

He was silent for a moment and wanted to say something, but the bathroom door suddenly opened.

A familiar voice came from inside. "Harper, can you get me a towel?"
