Chapter 148 Are You Just Going to Let It Go After Lying to Me?
Even though she clearly didn't want to see him, he still chased after her.
Francis thought, ‘And what about her?’
‘First, she wouldn't let Victor call her Mrs. Getty.’
‘Then she got into Keith's car.’
‘Now, she's saying she doesn't even know me.’
‘Does she really hate me that much?’
Brandon looked at them and asked, "Do you two know each other or not?"
Although Francis really wanted to settle the score with her right now, he held back.
With a cold and intense gaze, he tightened his grip around Harper's waist and gritted his teeth as he said, "She's my wife."
This brief statement left Harper stunned.
She tried to push him away, but he held her tighter, so she had to whisper, "What nonsense are you talking about?"
Brandon pondered for a few seconds and then asked Harper, "Is this man your husband?"
Harper thought, ‘Francis is out of his mind. The first two times we met, he was aloof and indifferent. And now he's eager to admit I’m his wife?’
She didn’t want to trouble Brandon, so she explained, "He's my ex-husband."
Francis' expression darkened again. Holding back his temper, he told Brandon, "I'll handle the rest."
Brandon was still hesitant, so Francis directly recited his social security number and said coldly, "If she goes missing, come find me."
This made Brandon stop hesitating. He immediately took Connor away.
After Brandon left, the villagers surrounded Francis.
They had just heard that Harper was his wife, and judging by his outstanding appearance, he didn't look like a man who was not rich.
Francis ignored the villagers, picked up Harper, and walked out.
But the villagers, having finally seen some hope, were determined not to let them leave and blocked their way.
At this moment, Victor came in. He already knew the situation and had brought cash with him.
"Everyone, come over here and register with me," Victor said.
Seeing money, the villagers immediately surrounded Victor.
This series of events left Harper stunned, and she forgot she was still in Francis' arms.
By the time she realized it, she had already been shoved into the car by Francis.
She quickly tried to get out, but he pinned her down in the car, and his hands braced against her waist.
Instantly, Harper felt extremely uncomfortable.
"Let me out."
"No," Francis refused domineeringly. Seeing her struggle, he pulled her up and pinned her on his lap.
This way, they were in an embrace.
It looked more like he was restraining her.
Harper didn't want to tangle with him and trembled as she pursed her lips. "Francis, let me go."
"Don't you have anything to say?" Francis stared at her as he questioned.
Harper knew what he wanted to ask, but she didn't go along with him.
"No."
"You tricked me into getting a divorce and then blocked me. What else are you capable of?"
Francis' voice was extremely hoarse, mostly due to anger.
The divorce was never his wish. He was just afraid Harper would commit suicide. He thought he was going along with her wishes to start over.
On the day of the divorce, he was so heartbroken that he ended up in the hospital, and Harper never visited him once.
At that time, he wondered how she could be so heartless.
When he hadn't fully recovered, he heard from Robert that Harper was seen at a bar, so he dragged his exhausted body over there.
And what did he hear?
She said she pretended to commit suicide to trick him into getting a divorce.
She even said she hoped he would die.
What he hated and despised the most in his life was to be deceived.
At that moment, he felt blood rushing to his throat and almost couldn't stand. He left the bar, tried to hold back, and was taken to the hospital by Robert.
When he woke up in the middle of the night, he couldn't bear it and sent a questioning message: [Why did you lie to me?]
As soon as he sent it, he received a red exclamation mark.
He tried calling and texting, but she had blocked him on everything.
Harper was held so tightly by him that she felt she couldn't breathe. She said angrily, "Francis, divorce means everything is over. And it is normal to delete each other's contact information. I don't see anything wrong with it."
Francis' eyes suddenly turned cold. "But you lied to end it."
Harper was furious. "We're already divorced. What do you want?"
"To remarry."
"Impossible," Harper refused firmly.
She had worked hard to get a divorce. There was no way she would go back.
Francis was infuriated by her. "So, you're just going to let it go after lying to me?"
"What else? Divorce is a good thing for both of us."
Harper felt that Francis was being unreasonable. He was used to being high and mighty.
Their relationship was already broken and could never go back to the way it used to be.
Wasn't divorce the best choice for both of them?
She thought for a moment and decided to make things clear, so she said, "Francis, we're already divorced. What’s to do with me is none of your business. I'll find a way to repay them. I don't need your help. Could you let me go now?"
Francis didn't speak but scrutinized her for a few moments. Suddenly, he pushed her against the seat back, then leaned down aggressively and bit her lips.
He was really angry and could only kiss her to vent.
