Chapter 417 We're Not On the Same Path
Molly was kinda shocked.
Robert actually punished Zack.
Zack had been his right-hand man for years, handling all the dirty work and staying loyal as a dog.
In the Perot Group, Zack was basically the second-in-command.
Robert usually wouldn't humiliate Zack in front of the crew unless it was absolutely necessary, but now Zack got the boot, and no one knew why.
For Molly, though, this was a golden ticket. With Zack out of the picture, no one would be watching her.
Molly wandered around a bit before heading back to Robert's room.
Robert was resting with his eyes shut. His wound had split open again, making his lips crack and his face pale as a ghost. A scar, about half the length of a pinky, ran up to his eyebrow, making him look pretty gnarly.
But even looking like that, Robert was still annoyingly handsome.
Since college, Robert had been the dream guy for a lot of girls. With his rich background and good looks, he had a fan club, but he turned them all down.
Back then, it was Molly who went after him. She'd just been dumped and was feeling super low. She figured she'd give it a shot, expecting to get rejected like everyone else.
After all, Robert was the big man on campus, student council president, and had all these accolades. But to her surprise, he said yes to her casual proposal.
It happened in the lab.
Molly asked Robert, "Mr. Perot, got a girlfriend?"
Robert just looked at her, not saying a word, making things awkward.
But Molly grinned and stuck out her hand, "Hi, I'm your next girlfriend."
Robert kept his hands in his pockets for what felt like forever.
Molly was about to pull her hand back when he suddenly grabbed it.
"Okay," was all he said.
The afternoon sun hit his face, making him look even more handsome. At that moment, she was genuinely smitten.
But now she knew, their misery started from there. And actually, everything was Robert's plan.
Including Molly's breakup with her then-boyfriend and their encounter, it was his plan.
Robert was a madman.
Because of him, the entire Koch family fell into a disaster, shattered, and eventually perished.
Molly's life, the infamy she bore, the insults she suffered, her family, everything was so unfair.
The once cheerful and smiling Molly was dead. Now, there was only the Molly with the remaining hatred for Robert.
She would never forget or forgive this bastard who disregarded others' pain.
As Molly was lost in her past memories, Robert suddenly opened his eyes.
Seeing her staring at him, Robert's lips curved slightly. "What? Anything good to look at on my face or am I just that good-looking?"
Molly snapped back to reality and sneered, "Yeah, no one would believe a man with an angel's face has a devil's heart."
Robert smiled, "I'll take that as a compliment."
Molly was helpless and ignored him.
"I want to drink my medicine," Robert ordered.
The medicine was on the table, cooling.
Molly sat down, stone-faced, and fed him, one spoonful after another.
As he was about to finish, she said, "After you finish this, I need to go back to the company."
Robert's face tightened a bit. "You're just gonna leave me like this?"
Molly shot back, "I got work to do, unlike you, Mr. Big Boss."
Catching the sass in her voice, Robert smirked. "Stay with me. What work do you need to do? I'll give you anything you want."
Molly sneered and put down the bowl. "Mr. Perot, haven't I stayed with you before? Remember the days when you paid me for my company? Was it not enough for you?"
Those words hit a nerve, and Robert's usually cool face showed a rare hint of embarrassment.
"That's not what I meant," he mumbled.
Molly kept smiling, "To me, it's almost the same."
Robert's eyes darkened, and he switched gears with a shallow smile. "You stabbed me. Can't you stay with me for a few more days?"
"Then call the cops," Molly said flatly. "After all, you tried to assault me first. I was just defending myself."
"Molly, it was an accident, but you really wanted me dead, didn't you?"
Robert's eyes were unusually dark. At that moment, the look in Molly's eyes had made it clear she wanted him dead..
Molly laughed like she had heard the funniest joke ever. "Robert, you just realized today that I want you dead?"
Robert raised an eyebrow, a hint of self-mockery in his expression. "I knew, but as long as you're alive, I don't want to go to hell alone."
Molly sneered, "What? You wanna die with me?"
Robert didn't speak but looked at her with a heavy silence.
Molly thought this madman was ridiculous.
She leaned in slightly, her delicate fingers teasingly lifting his chin, and laughed softly, "Robert, keep dreaming. I've never done anything terribly evil in my life. When I die, I'll go to heaven while you'll go to hell!"
Molly looked at his handsome face, the hatred in her eyes clear as day. "We're not on the same path, okay?"
The disgust and hatred in Molly's eyes made Robert's expression darken. How could he be the one to be despised?
Robert's face turned cold, and he wrapped his long arms tightly around her waist, his voice cold and deep. "Then stay with me in this world, and we'll never be apart."
He tightened his grip. Molly belonged to him and only him.
Molly thought Robert was sometimes naively ridiculous.
She asked him, "After all the harm you've done to me and my family, you still expect me to stay with you?"
Robert frowned slightly, tightening his grip on her waist. "Molly, why can't you try to let go of those grudges and accept me? I promise no one will ever hurt you again."
"Robert, no one can hurt me except you, who is always hurting me. You want me to let go of the grudges. Don't forget. We are enemies." Molly was in his arms, her words buzzing, each word hitting Robert's heart.
Her tone was as cold as ice as she said word by word, "Robert, I will never be in the same world as you, not now, not ever."
Robert's hands stiffened. He was silent for a long time, his slender fingers slowly lifting her beautiful but tear-streaked face.
He replied firmly, "It doesn't matter. Just remember I took your virginity and the one hugging you is me as well."
With that, he lowered his head, kissing her hateful lips with a hint of ferocity. Before the kiss deepened, Robert breathed, "Molly, I will bring you back to my world."
