Chapter 174 A Narrow Encounter
Called it off?
Did that mean she could have second thoughts?
"If that's the case, all her previous sacrifices would be in vain."
Harper, who was unwilling to give in, endured the discomfort and said, "There's still an hour and a half left."
Francis turned her head back towards him, his hoarse voice mixed with extreme displeasure.
"Are you sure?"
Harper pressed her lips together, tears welling up but still stubbornly refusing to compromise.
Francis stared at her flushed cheeks and let out an incomprehensible laugh.
His laugh didn't seem like a happy one.
Harper tensed up, feeling uneasy; even the hand supporting her waist seemed to have cooled.
Sure enough, Francis's smile faded, and his voice turned icy. "Then, as you wish."
Immediately, his hands pressed down hard, gripping her waist, and he thrust his fierce thing into her vagina and increased the speed of his thrusts. The room was filled with the sound of their bodies colliding, which made Harper unable to utter a sound and forced her to grab the railing with one hand.
Francis kept his word, only pulling out his thing at the last minute of the day and ejaculating onto her chest.
He looked at her, disheveled and entranced by him, her hair a mess, eyes seductive. His gaze darkened as he looked at the marks he left on her chest, and he roughly kneaded her soft breasts.
Harper was so exhausted she was nearly unconscious, instinctively moaning a few times, her entire being covered in a layer of sensual allure.
Francis stared at her sleeping face and said gently and earnestly, "Harper, we are not over yet."
Then, he carried her to the bathtub, cleaned her up, and left.
He kept his promise.
She didn't have the energy to think much, and she was utterly exhausted. She collapsed onto the bed and fell asleep.
Harper slept in a daze until noon, when Molly's knocking woke her up. She opened the door, and Molly rushed in to hug her, saying, "Honey, I'm so hungry."
Harper helped her sit down and said, "Wait a moment; I'll make you something to eat."
After Molly was seated, Harper opened the window to ventilate the room as she could still faintly sense the smell of their lovemaking, which she was afraid Molly would notice.
She checked the room again and expected it to be a mess after Francis changed their lovemaking spots multiple times, but it was surprisingly tidy; even the trash can was clean.
They had sex twice in total, which was probably not enough for Francis.
Plus, with Molly sleeping next door, Harper was so nervous she didn't dare make a sound.
Francis later increased the intensity of his thrusts, forcing her to make noise. Harper couldn't hold out and complied.
Luckily, Molly was very drunk and slept deeply. Otherwise, the thin wall wouldn't have muffled her moans.
Molly asked, "Harper, why are there so many petals on the floor outside? Who sent you these flowers? Why waste them like that?"
Harper blushed and explained, "It was Keith. And I accidentally knocked them over."
When Harper came out, she saw a set of takeouts on the table, and the boxes looked quite upscale.
She thought Molly had ordered the takeout, cleaned up the floor, and set the table before calling Molly to eat.
During the meal, Harper hesitated to ask but did not know where to start.
She finally said, "Molly, how have you been lately?"
"I'm doing great!" Molly quickly shoveled a few bites of food, trying to maintain a facade.
She didn't want to hide things from Harper on purpose, but she felt her own troubles were too unbearable and preferred to deal with them alone.
Since Molly didn't want to talk, Harper didn't push her, so she just squeezed her hand and said, "If you ever need anything, tell me. We're best friends, who should share joy and sorrow. Trust me. I'll always be on your side."
Molly blinked away her tears and said, "Harper, I know you're worried about me, but believe me, I'm not that easily defeated."
"I believe you."
Molly picked up a piece of fish and put it in Harper's bowl, saying, "Harper, your work seems to be going well lately. The food from this restaurant isn't cheap, but it's good."
Harper was taken aback. "What?"
Molly explained, "These cost nearly ten thousand dollars. We don't need to be this extravagant in the future. The fish you cook tastes just as good."
Harper was helpless.
So, was Molly not ordering the takeout?
If these foods were brought into the house, it could only be Francis who ordered them.
So, was this his way of treating her to a final meal?
Was he trying to show that he was keeping his promise and wouldn't harass her anymore?
For the next week, Harper's life went very peaceful.
Four classes a week, and although Noah was reluctant to learn, he didn't do anything out of line.
However, Harper could sense that he often did bad things quietly and always made her feel like he was waiting for Friday to humiliate her.
On Thursday, Harper had no classes, and Molly invited her out to go shopping.
They were eating ice cream in a dessert shop when Molly suddenly exclaimed while scrolling through her phone.
"Shit! Francis is getting engaged so soon!"
Harper choked on her ice cream and couldn't stop coughing.
Molly quickly patted her back and said indignantly, "Francis is such a jerk. You guys just got divorced, and now he's going to work with the eldest daughter of the Sullivan family every day. They're inseparable. It's a good thing you divorced him. He has too many women around him. After Chloe, now comes a Lily. It seems like there's always a line of candidates around him."
Harper had calmed down, but hearing that still hurt her.
They had only been out of contact for a week, and he was already rumored to be engaged to someone else. It seemed he was really keeping his promise this time and wouldn't harass her anymore.
Molly, who realized Harper's mood had dropped and her face had turned pale, lowered her voice and asked, "Harper, are you okay?"
"I'm fine; I, just choked," Harper said, her face returning to normal as if nothing had happened.
Molly pouted. People don't choke on ice cream that easily, so Harper was lying.
She linked arms with Harper and said, "Let's go buy some pretty clothes to cheer up."
They entered a brand store.
Molly immediately spotted a set in the center, a dark green cashmere coat paired with a white dress.
Molly asked the sales assistant to take it down and handed it to Harper. "Go try it on."
Harper could tell from the fabric that it was expensive and lost interest in trying it on.
She was still in debt, and studying abroad required money. It wasn't the time for her to spend lavishly.
But Molly kept pushing her and insisted she try it on.
She said, "This coat looks good on you. I bet nobody but you match it with your fair skin."
Harper couldn't resist her and agreed to try it on.
When she came out wearing the set, both the sales assistant and Molly were full of amazement.
Molly leaned in and said, "I told you, only you can pull off this dress and coat. You look like a socialite."
Molly always felt Harper had an indescribable aura, not like an ordinary family's child.
Now, with the change of clothes, her refined and elegant demeanor was even more apparent.
The sales assistant also genuinely praised, "This outfit really looks good on you. The dark green looks even better on you than on our magazine models."
Harper also thought it looked good. No girl doesn't love looking beautiful, but seeing the price, she knew it wasn't what she could afford right now.
She shook her head and said, "I'll change back."
Molly actually wanted to pay for her, but Harper firmly refused. She didn't have that kind of vanity and didn't believe that wearing a good outfit would make her life better.
To improve her life, she had to rely on her own efforts.
With that said, she prepared to go back and change.
Suddenly, a familiar name was heard at the door.
"Francis, let's check out this store."
Harper and Molly looked up simultaneously and saw a flamboyantly dressed girl pulling Francis's arm and walking into the store.
Molly was even more reluctant for Harper to change out of the outfit. It wasn't an exaggeration, but Harper's fashion sense was indeed several levels above the girl next to Francis.
She deliberately grabbed Harper and said loudly, "Harper, if you go out dressed like this, you'll definitely have a lot of people asking for your phone number."
Francis hadn't noticed them at first, but with Molly's loud remark, he looked over.
