Chapter 343 He Owes You

Harper felt guilty thinking about Jasper's attitude.

She swung her arms and said, "Just stretching after getting up."

Jasper stayed quiet, setting down the lunch box. "You must be hungry."

He had the housekeeper prepare some nourishing soup and light food, which he neatly arranged on the table.

Harper walked over and saw the plain-looking food, but it was all her favorites.

Jasper rolled up his sleeves and served her some soup.

"Jasper, I can do it myself," Harper said, feeling a bit embarrassed. Jasper always treated her like she was precious.

"Finish this bowl," Jasper insisted.

Harper drank the soup, not leaving a drop.

Jasper finally smiled.

Harper took the napkin he handed her, wiped her mouth, and asked, "Why did you come back without a word? Is Dad okay?"

"He's much better. He was worried about you and Agnes, so he sent me over," Jasper replied.

"That's good." Harper felt relieved. She called her dad, Clayton Murphy, every day, but he always said he was fine.

Harper worried Clayton was hiding bad news and thought about taking Agnes to see him.

But Clayton didn't want her to come back, worried it wouldn't be convenient for Agnes to take a leave of absence just after starting school. He heard Agnes was happy here and didn't want them traveling back and forth.

"What happened between you and Francis?" Jasper asked.

He had heard some things from Isla but wanted Harper to clarify.

Harper recounted the events, mentioning how Chloe was behind the drugging and how Francis blocked her when Chloe went crazy. She skipped the part about helping Francis with his wound in the car.

Jasper frowned slightly. It seemed he had been impulsive; Francis was actually seeking justice for Harper.

He had to admit, throwing Chloe into Whispering Willow Lane was a good move by Francis.

Chloe's crime wouldn't result in a long sentence. With a good lawyer, she might even get probation. That punishment was too light for her.

Whispering Willow Lane, a lawless and dark place, was much scarier than prison. She would wish she were dead. Even if she survived, she would probably be disabled or insane.

Harper worriedly said, "We don't know how he's doing after we left."

"So you were planning to go see him just now?" Jasper asked knowingly.

Harper didn't expect Jasper to see through her.

She wasn't just worried about Francis's health. More importantly, Jasper had punched him so many times, and Francis hadn't fought back at all.

If he woke up and wanted revenge, or if his condition worsened and his family wanted compensation, either situation would be bad for Jasper.

Harper worriedly said, "Jasper, you punched him. Will he come back for you?"

"That's not for you to worry about, but you're not allowed to go see him," Jasper shut down her thoughts. He couldn't let Harper walk into danger again.

Every time Francis saw Harper, the obsession and possessiveness in his eyes were almost overflowing! This made Jasper particularly unhappy. Just thinking about the suffering Harper endured in Northfield made him not regret his actions at all.

"And whatever he does for you is voluntary. You don't need to feel guilty. He owes you."

Jasper knew Harper was kind-hearted and worried she might be swayed by Francis. Blocking an assasination wasn't enough to make up for his past actions; that would be too easy.

"Oh," Harper nodded, but her mind was elsewhere.

She remembered fragments of the past, like Francis blocking a knife for her more than once. Lately, she often recalled past events, sometimes clearly, sometimes vaguely, and then forgot them again.

Harper didn't tell Jasper about these memories. She was more worried about both Francis and Jasper.

She feared Jasper might get into trouble for his impulsive behavior, so she needed to check on Francis's condition.

Just then, the door opened, and Molly walked in. "Harper, are you okay?"

"I'm fine."

Molly still wasn't reassured and looked Harper up and down to make sure she was okay before relaxing.

Jessica was busy with work and couldn't leave, so she had asked Molly to check on Harper. Jessica would come over once she finished her work.

Seeing Molly, Jasper got up and left after greeting her.

But he still had Isla guard the door to keep Harper safe and prevent her from sneaking out.

After Jasper left, Harper said to Molly, "Molly, can you help me sneak out?"

Seeing Harper's mysterious look, Molly asked, "What's going on?"

Harper explained the situation.

Molly pondered for a moment and sighed, "It seems no matter what, you can't avoid Francis."

Seeing Molly's expression, Harper asked, "Molly, do you know Francis?"

Molly knew more about Francis than Harper did. Sometimes she really couldn't understand what kind of man Francis was.

"Curious about him?" Molly teased.

Harper blushed. "No."

Knowing more about him would be useful.

Molly stopped teasing and thought for a moment before saying, "Francis used to be particularly attentive to Chloe, but other than that, he didn't seem to have any other women. He was quite clean."

"But now it seems there were misunderstandings about Chloe. Francis didn't spare her for old time's sake; it probably wasn't romantic back then."

Molly thought of Agnes. She had long suspected Agnes's identity.

The Murphy family had done a seamless job, but Agnes's mouth and nose actually resembled Francis's more.

Because her eyes looked like Harper's, people overlooked these features.

Molly looked at Harper and said, "Actually, I think most of the issues between you and Francis are misunderstandings. You could try to give him a chance."

If the matter of Francis liking Chloe was a misunderstanding, then Francis wasn't unforgivable. After all, Agnes was innocent.

Molly also knew about Agnes' desire for a father. She felt she was destined to be unhappy in this life, but she wanted Harper to have a happy and fulfilling life.

Molly quickly came up with a plan. She got a nurse's uniform for Harper.

With a nurse's cap, mask, and black-framed glasses, Harper was completely unrecognizable.

As planned, when Harper went out, Isla didn't recognize her.

Molly followed her out, casually closing the door and instructing Isla, "Harper is asleep. Keep her safe."

Isla nodded.

When the coast was clear, Molly took Harper to the hospital and then headed to another location.

The car stopped at a restaurant, and Molly pushed the door open and went inside.

She didn't notice a figure passing by who glanced back at her.

Molly went to a private room and pushed the door open. The figure glanced through the crack and saw a man's clean profile.

After the door closed, the figure took out a phone and dialed. "Mr. Perot, I saw Ms. Koch."

There was a long silence on the other end.

Zack gritted his teeth and said, "She's having dinner with a man."
