Chapter 380 It's His Daughter
Wesley had just snapped a pic with Agnes after getting the green light from Zoey.
Francis took a peek at the photo and was floored when he saw Agnes. He blurted out, "Does she look like me?"
Wesley zoomed in on Agnes's face, pointing out her delicate features. "Check out this nose, mouth, and face shape. Isn't it just like your smug little face when you were a kid? You can ask Abigail, but her eyes are kinda similar to..."
Wesley paused for a sec, but it really did seem so.
"Harper! Yeah, Harper's eyes!" Wesley remembered and teased, "Could she be your long-lost..."
Before he could finish, a shadow zipped past him.
Wesley spun around, and Francis was already gone.
He stared at Victor, totally confused. "Has Mr. Getty had his brain checked?"
"Mr. Redstone, Mr. Getty's brain is fine." Victor stifled a laugh and said, "But you just stumbled on something huge."
After all this time, there was finally some good news.
Wesley's face suddenly changed. "Could it be..."
Wesley also dashed out.
In Harper's ward.
Vincent still had to wait for some test results before he could leave.
He was peeling an apple by the bedside and noticed Harper looking a bit out of it. He asked, "Now that you remember, what are you gonna do?"
"I haven't decided yet." The main thing now was to figure out who tried to hurt her back then.
She had to be on guard against this mystery person coming back to hurt her and Agnes.
Vincent asked, "Will you remarry him?"
After all, they had been getting along pretty well lately, and Francis had helped a lot with this whole mess.
Even Jasper had flipped, which was unusual and showed Francis's negotiation skills.
Harper frowned. During the time she had amnesia, she clearly felt her hesitation.
She'd get all jittery because of Francis's sweet talk and feel good because of his thoughtfulness.
But now, when she thought of Francis, she only remembered his distrust and absence when she needed him most.
Although Francis had been trying to make up for it, the damage was done. Could making up for it make it go away?
Vincent saw Harper's frown and thought his question was too much. He cleared his throat and said, "Sorry, I overstepped."
Harper snapped back to reality and said, "It's okay."
At that moment, Agnes ran in, sweating, and said to Harper, "Mommy, I'm thirsty."
Zoey came in with a bottle to feed Agnes.
Vincent took it and said gently with a smile, "Agnes, how about I give you some water?"
Agnes, remembering her mom's condition, nodded obediently.
Vincent sat her on his lap and fed her water.
Some water spilled from her mouth, and Harper wiped it off with a tissue. This brought the three of them closer together.
After that, Vincent told Agnes a joke, making her giggle non-stop.
Harper was infected by Agnes's laughter and put aside her worries, smiling as well.
Agnes laughed so hard in Vincent's arms that she almost slipped down.
Harper instinctively reached out to catch her, but Vincent was ready and not only held Agnes tightly but also supported the unsteady Harper.
Agnes thought it was a game and clapped her hands, wanting to do it again.
Harper, worried, said, "No more. It's a bit dangerous."
Vincent also smiled and said, "Agnes, listen to your mom. Let's play something safe."
Agnes held Harper and Vincent's hands together and said with a smile, "Then let's play patty-cake, okay?"
Vincent's broad hand covered Harper's hand, dry and warm.
Harper felt a bit repulsed and couldn't help but pull her hand back.
This feeling puzzled her. Why did her body so clearly reject other men?
But when facing Francis, those kisses and hugs, although she resisted, she never rejected him. Why was that?
Francis ran all the way to the ward door and saw this scene.
Vincent was holding Harper's hand with Agnes in his arms. The three of them looked warm and happy, like a family, while he seemed like an intruder.
Agnes's bright, smiling face confirmed Wesley's words—that she was his daughter!
Jasper's tactics, combined with Harper's amnesia, had prevented him from realizing that Agnes was his daughter.
Actually, there were many clues. Agnes was too articulate for a three-year-old, and Harper had just been reunited with her family. How could the Murphy family find her a husband so soon?
It was all to cover up Agnes's identity.
If Wesley hadn't revealed it today, he would have been a gull.
Harper's smiling face froze when she saw Francis at the door.
Francis stood tall at the door, almost touching the door frame, his eyes filled with a shadowy emotion that Harper couldn't understand, like deep pain.
Vincent noticed Harper's change and followed her gaze.
Seeing Francis, he tightened his grip on Harper's hand.
Harper was startled and instinctively wanted to pull her hand away, but the next second, she was shocked by this thought.
Why didn't she want Francis to see her holding hands with another man? They had divorced.
Francis stepped into the room, his handsome face expressionless, but somehow it felt as cold as a blade.
Standing in front of the three, Francis coldly said to Vincent, "Get out."
Vincent wasn't intimidated by his coldness and was about to speak when Harper stopped him.
She stepped forward and said coldly, "Francis, the one who should leave is you."
These words were so harsh that Francis wanted to tear something apart, but he restrained himself.
He directly took Agnes from Vincent's arms, holding her tightly, looking at her little face, his eyes turning red. "Agnes,"
This word was filled with emotion, startling Harper.
Vincent, unprepared, had let him take Agnes. He quickly tried to take her back, saying, "Mr. Getty, please give Agnes back to me."
Francis, trying to control his anger in front of Agnes, looked as cold as ever. "What gives you the right to ask me to give her back?"
The more Harper listened, the more wrong it sounded, and her heart started pounding.
She reached out to grab Agnes and shouted, "Francis, what are you doing? Let go of my daughter!"
Francis's expression was cold as he suppressed his emotion for a long time. He said coldly, "Are you sure she's just your daughter?"
