Chapter 600 Her Biological Father!

"Elodie, what's up?" Arthur rushed over, trying to figure out what was going on with her.

But when Elodie saw it was Arthur, she freaked out and dove straight into Harper's arms.

It was like they had swapped roles, with Elodie acting like the scared kid now.

Harper frowned and said, "Arthur, you need to go. You're just making things worse."

Arthur didn't want to leave, but seeing Elodie shaking, he gave in.

"Harper, as long as you play nice, I can make sure you don't get hurt, got it?" he said, his tone a mix of sweet talk and threat.

Arthur was basically warning Harper that if she tried anything funny, she'd pay for it.

Harper kept her cool and just said, "Mm," while gently patting Elodie's back, soothing her, "Mom, it's me, Harper."

Seeing Elodie finally calm down, Arthur decided not to push it and left the room.

Harper noticed the door closing. She had checked earlier; there were no cameras in the room.

Maybe because they had just moved, and Arthur planned to take Elodie away, he hadn't set up any surveillance yet.

"Mom, I'm sorry for hurting you." Harper quickly checked Elodie's back. Luckily, it was just a bit red.

She knew Arthur would freak out if Elodie showed any pain, so she had tricked him.

It worked.

If it had been Harper who got hurt and screamed, Arthur probably wouldn't have cared unless she was dying.

Elodie still seemed out of it, but she didn't push Harper away. She stared at Harper like she was afraid she'd disappear if she blinked.

Harper gently held Elodie's arm, tears streaming down her face.

Harper cried for a bit, then wiped her tears and asked, "Mom, where did you put that embroidered silk?"

She was talking about the piece of silk from the gift. It was her only shot at contacting Jasper.

There was a transmitter inside. Pressing it again would let Jasper know where they were.

After Elodie had pressed it, Arthur hadn't checked, meaning he didn't know about the transmitter.

Based on Elodie's condition, Harper figured she had triggered it by accident.

At that time, Elodie wasn't talking or showing any expressions, just reacting instinctively to the silk.

"Mom, that embroidered silk is super important to us. Can you tell me where it is?" Harper asked gently.

But Elodie still looked lost.

Harper suddenly thought of telling childhood stories. She helped Elodie sit down and then sat beside her, slowly recounting their past.

Harper felt it was working. When she talked about their separation, Elodie's expression noticeably changed.

Just as Harper was getting excited about Elodie's reaction, the door opened, and Arthur walked in. Seeing Elodie's slightly better expression, his mood lifted.

But Arthur didn't give them more time. He said flatly, "Time's up."

Without a second thought about Elodie's reluctance, Arthur scooped her up and left the room.

The next day.

Elodie showed up right on time. As Harper finished her story, Elodie's eyes suddenly lit up.

Elodie spoke her first words since going catatonic.

"Is it this?" Elodie asked, like she was doing a magic trick, as she took off the band from her wrist.

Then, staring at Harper's face, she smiled and asked again, "This?"

Harper was stunned. She hadn't expected what she needed to be hidden on Elodie, who had been using it as a wristband.

Harper quickly checked the embroidery, and sure enough, the locator was still there.

She found the button and pressed it.

Then, a faint sound came from the door. Harper hurriedly re-tied the silk on Elodie.

They only had two chances with this transmitter. After this, it would be completely useless.

Watching Elodie being taken away again, Harper felt a deep sense of reluctance, but she believed that hope was coming soon.

Meanwhile, Jasper and Vincent were scouring the entire city for Harper.

They hadn't found any records of Arthur entering or leaving Emerald Isle airport, so they figured Arthur was still hiding on Emerald Isle.

Francis was also on the hunt.

After three sleepless days and nights, Francis lay back in the chair and closed his eyes to rest, when the door opened.

Victor burst in excitedly, "The transmitter, it sent another signal."

Francis immediately grabbed his coat and headed to the underground garage.

On the way, Victor checked for any dangerous objects around the transmitter, and Francis informed Jasper and Vincent of the news.

The three of them set off from different directions, but their goal was the same: to rescue Harper and Elodie.

Upon hearing that there might be news about Harper, Rhodes also rushed to the location.

In the evening.

The door to Harper's room opened again, and Arthur walked in holding a document.

Seeing the word "identification" on the document, Harper's heart tightened.

Why did the results come out so soon? If Arthur knew the truth, he would definitely kill her now.

Harper had already sent out the signal. She just needed to wait a little longer, and she would survive.

Harper hid her hand under the pillow, secretly gathering strength, ready to fight Arthur.

Arthur walked up, elegantly adjusted his glasses, and said, "Harper, I haven't looked at this report yet. Do you want to see it first?"

Harper's hand, gripping the sharpened fork, paused.

Arthur hadn't looked at the results yet? But asking her to look first couldn't be out of kindness.

Arthur was probably observing her expression, enjoying her moment of vulnerability.

"Okay." Harper slowly reached out to take the envelope.

Arthur was indeed enjoying Harper's expression. And the more he looked, the more he realized, she was just like him.

They had the same eyes, which were more special and beautiful than ordinary people's.

Harper's hands trembled as she opened the envelope, thinking about the chances of attacking Arthur from this distance.

Or if she could just find a way to lock Arthur in this room, she could escape with Elodie.

Suddenly, Harper raised her hand, and the envelope fell to the ground, scattering the documents inside.

She didn't bother to look at them; she just grabbed the fork and aimed it at Arthur's neck.

There was a height difference between them, but Arthur was slightly bowing his head at that moment, completely unguarded against Harper.

The fork easily pierced Arthur's neck, and blood immediately started dripping down.

Seeing the speed of the blood flow, Harper knew it wasn't good. She hadn't hit an artery and couldn't incapacitate him.

Arthur raised his hand to touch his neck, seeing the bright red blood. Then he looked at Harper, his face expressionless.

"Trying to kill me?" he asked her calmly, his eyes showing no emotion, as calm as a dead sea.

Harper stepped back, keeping her distance from Arthur, and said, "Someone will come to rescue me and my mom soon. Don't think you can get away!"

Arthur wasn't surprised at all. "You've made contact with Jasper?"

Harper didn't care. Whether she said it or not, Arthur was smart enough to figure it out.

Otherwise, she wouldn't have taken such a desperate gamble; she would have continued to pretend.

Arthur didn't bother with the fork in his neck, neither pulling it out nor treating it. He raised an eyebrow and said, "Not bad, you're indeed my child, brave enough."

Harper frowned. What did he mean by his child? She didn't believe Arthur hadn't seen the paternity test.

He must have known long ago that Harper wasn't his daughter.

Seeing Harper's confused expression, Arthur seemed to understand something and suddenly laughed. "So you were trying to deceive me, but..."

Arthur bent down slightly, picked up the report from the ground, and handed it to her. "Look, you were right. You really are my daughter."

Harper was shocked, unable to believe her ears.

But she clearly saw the paternity test result: 99.99% related.

How could this be?

She had just said it to buy time and save her life, but it had suddenly become a fact.

Harper was actually Arthur's daughter! The man who had tried to kill her multiple times was her biological father!

As Arthur approached, Harper suddenly screamed, "Stop!"

She was on the verge of losing it, raising a chair and aiming it at Arthur. "Don't come near me!"

Arthur stopped, still wearing that inscrutable smile. "Harper, I am your father now. You need to adapt quickly."

"How dare you? You've tried to kill me three times, each time genuinely wanting me dead. Now, just because I have your blood, you think I should acknowledge you?" Harper was desperate.

Arthur's calm facade cracked for a moment.

He said calmly, "I didn't know before. You shouldn't dwell on the past; you should look to the future. Being my daughter, you'll never suffer. I'll kill anyone who wrongs you, no matter who it is!"

Harper had never seen someone so shameless and insane. How could Arthur say she shouldn't dwell on the past after he had tried to kill her three times and imprisoned Elodie?

If it weren't for Arthur, Harper's life wouldn't have been so tumultuous, and Sean wouldn't have been innocently killed.

Arthur even had the nerve to say she wouldn't suffer in the future. All of Harper's misfortunes were because of him.

Harper, who should have enjoyed her mother's love, was forced to live a life of hardship.

"Arthur, what dream are you living in? I won't acknowledge you. I will take my mom away. You've imprisoned my mom for so many years and killed many innocent people." Harper looked at him, gathering her strength. "Someone like you deserves to go to hell!"

Arthur looked at Harper's angry face and smiled lightly.

"It seems we can't talk this out." Arthur waved his hand and said, "But it's okay. We have a long time ahead as a family. You'll soon see what a good father I can be."

Harper watched Arthur warily, unsure of his intentions.

But she soon found out.

Arthur waved his hand, calling in a servant, and then instructed, "Pack Harper's things and get her on the plane."

Seeing Harper's pale face, Arthur explained slowly, "We're leaving soon."

Arthur was planning to take Elodie and Harper and leave together.

Harper knew Arthur was clever because he had managed to hide Elodie for decades without anyone knowing.

If she was taken away this time, she would never see Clayton, Jasper, the kids, or any of her family and friends again.

"I'm not going!" Harper threw a chair and ran towards the door.

Just as she reached the door, Arthur grabbed her arm, tied her hands with a tie, and carried her downstairs.

There wasn't much time; the place might have already been compromised, and they had to leave immediately.

Everything was already arranged. Once they left, Arthur could hide Elodie and Harper as securely as before.

Harper's hands were tied, and she was slung over Arthur's shoulder. No matter how she struggled, she couldn't break free.

At the door, Harper saw a servant pushing Elodie towards the helicopter.

She shouted from Arthur's shoulder, "Mom! Run! Don't get on the helicopter!"

Elodie looked at Harper, her eyes confused for a second.

Hearing Harper's words, she didn't react. It was as if yesterday's clarity was just Harper's illusion.

Arthur, annoyed by Harper's noise, said angrily, "If you don't want me to throw you down, shut up!"

Unexpectedly, the threat made Harper shout even louder, "Mom! Run! He's a bad man, his hands are covered in blood, run!"

Arthur was really angry.

Fortunately, they were close to the helicopter. He handed Harper over to a burly bodyguard.

Harper reacted strongly, yelling at the bodyguard, "Don't touch me!"

Arthur hesitated, as if considering whether he should let another man touch Harper.

At that moment, Harper broke free from their handoff and ran towards Elodie.

"Mom!" Harper shouted.

Elodie suddenly stood up from the wheelchair. The servant behind her panicked and was about to grab her.

Elodie did something even more shocking; she started running.

It was known that after her trauma, she couldn't control her limbs well and needed a wheelchair to get around.

She could occasionally stand up, but not for more than five seconds.

Elodie placed her hand in Harper's, and the two ran towards the car parked at the door.

The car door was locked.
