Chapter 71 Rhodes Getty

Victor immediately raised the barrier. In his mind, he thought, "You can have fun, just act as though I don't exist."

Now, Francis had no scruples. He reached out and pulled down her sweater, forcefully leaving a mark below her enticing collarbone.

Harper had not yet recovered from the painful and numb emotions when she heard his almost fierce command.

"Call me dear."

Francis teased Harper with his thin lips for a long time, forcing her to softly call him dear several times.

When they got out of the car, he straightened her clothes. His eyes were somewhat dark, and he murmured, "When I come back, I still have to settle the debt with you."

Harper's face blushed again. Was there a need to announce this kind of thing in advance?

Previously, his body had not fully recovered, and the doctor said he must abstain for at least a week.

But he begged her relentlessly every day, and Harper agreed that when the time came, they could proceed if she felt better.

She also consulted the doctor and was told that as long as she took it easy for the next two months, occasional encounters would be fine.

She would plead with him at that time to take it easy.

At the hospital, Harper saw Holland sitting outside.

Her hair was messy, and her lips were swollen. When she saw Harper, it was as if she had seen a savior.

"Harper, I was just about to call you. Someone came in and said he was Delaney's son, feeding Delaney cake. I told him that Delaney can't eat cake, and then he grabbed my head and slapped me."

Upon hearing this, Harper's face changed instantly.

She took out a thousand dollars and handed it to Holland to comfort her. "Holland, go and have your injuries checked. I'll go inside and take a look."

Holland took the money, unable to hold back her tears. She was timid and afraid of trouble, only looking at Harper and saying, "I'm afraid I won't be able to take care of Delaney anymore."

Harper tried to persuade her, "Holland, you've taken good care of Delaney, and I'm at ease. I will solve the problems inside. I'll give you an additional thousand dollars per month, will you continue to take care of Delaney?"

Holland thought about it, unable to bear leaving. Although Delaney was sick, he was easy to take care of.

Harper also had a good personality, and she was afraid she wouldn't encounter such a good employer if she quit this job.

After thinking it over, she said, "I don't want you to add money. I will continue to take care of Delaney."

After saying that, she went to the pharmacy to buy ointment.

Harper pushed open the door and saw a mess in the hospital room, with broken glass and scattered bedding everywhere.

Her uncle Thorne stood by the bed, forcefully smearing the cake on Delaney's face.

"You should eat it!"
Delaney, who had always been in poor health, was in so much pain that he cried out in agony.

Harper stared angrily, never expecting Thorne to treat his mother like this.

Immediately, she grabbed the water cup from the bedside table and threw it at Thorne's head.

"Bang!"

Thorne was caught off guard and shouted in pain.

"What the hell, who the fuck threw that at me!"

Thorne yelled, holding his head.

He wiped away the blood from the corner of his eye and saw Harper looking at him with anger.

"Thorne, if you don't leave now, I'll call the police!"

"Call the police all you want," Thorne didn't care at all, looking insolent, "You're the one who threw it at me. I came to see my mother, and you, a clueless bitch, hit me on the head."

At that moment, Holland came in and saw Whitney with cake all over her face. She quickly went to clean her up.

Delaney, in a weak voice, cursed, "You beast, stop bullying Harper."

Thorne smirked, holding his head, "Mom, you must be blind. Who's bullying who? Today, if you refuse to give me $300,000, I won't leave."

Upon hearing this, Delaney became furious and gasped for breath.

Harper felt sorry for Delaney and sternly said, "Thorne, come out here."

Thinking there might be money to be gained, Thorne followed Harper out the door, and they found themselves standing in the hallway.

Straight to the point, Harper asked, "What do you want?"

Thorne grinned playfully and replied, "Harper, how about lending me some money? Then, I won't hold this injury against you."

Harper furrowed her brows and said, "You sold the ancestral home for $1 million. Where is that money?"

"I spent it. I'm now involved in some big business. I don't need much from you. Just give me $500,000, and I'll double it for you."

Harper coldly smiled, "Is your big business gambling?"

Thorne's face changed dramatically, "What nonsense are you talking about?"

"I changed Delaney's phone number. Before, people were calling her for debt collections."

Thorne's lie was exposed, and he awkwardly smiled, "Oh, I only go occasionally. Just give me the money quickly, I promise not to disturb you guys."

Harper didn't believe his words at all. Thorne was notorious for being a scoundrel, getting into fights and causing trouble when he was young.

Now in his middle age, he developed a gambling habit and secretly sold the ancestral home, leaving Delaney homeless.

One million dollars was squandered in just one month.

This kind of person was an endless pit.

"Thorne, the ancestral home also belongs to me, and you sold it for one million dollars, of which five hundred thousand dollars is mine. As long as you promise not to come looking for me and Delaney in the future, I won't dispute this money with you. Otherwise," Harper said sternly, "I will sue you to recover the five hundred thousand dollars."

Thorne grabbed her arm tightly and threw her aside, saying harshly, "You bitch! You still want to sue me! Today, I will settle the score with you on behalf of my sister!"

He used quite a bit of force, causing Harper to stumble. She managed to steady herself by grabbing onto the wall.

Thorne viciously threatened, "Give me the money, or I will kill you today.”

“I don’t have any money.”

“Don’t think I don’t know. You’ve hooked up with a wealthy man; he drives cars worth millions of dollars. How can you not have any money?”

“How do you know?” Harper asked.

“I saw it. I saw you kissing a man in a car,” Thorne glanced maliciously at Harper and sneered, “How can a whore like you not have any money?”

Harper didn’t expect that Thorne had been observing her for a while. She interrupted sharply, “What nonsense are you spouting?”

Thorne didn’t want to waste any more time with her and asked, “Will you give me the money?”

“Keep dreaming! Even if I have money, I wouldn’t give it to you!”

Their argument caught the attention of passersby.

A man with a handsome face and a composed demeanor walked down the steps. He was dressed in a gray suit and exuded a confident and outstanding temperament.

He casually glanced in that direction.

His assistant had excellent eyesight and immediately explained, “Mr. Getty, it seems like this girl is being kept by a man outside and her family found out, so they’re asking her for money.”

Rhodes Getty remained calm, “Let’s go.”

A black luxury car was waiting at the entrance, and the assistant opened the door.

After the man sat down, the car window slowly rolled up.

He casually glanced over again and noticed the girl's hair being forcibly pulled by the man, followed by a slap, leaving her looking quite disheveled.

The man reached out his hand again, and the girl's face became visible – it was swollen and bruised, not looking good at all.

"Stop."

Rhodes spoke in his usually calm tone, but there was a hint of urgency.

The driver stopped the car, and Rhodes got out, walking over leisurely.

Harper's disheveled appearance made her look particularly fragile.

Thorne was strong, and he grabbed Harper's hair, raising his hand high, cursing, "I'll teach you a lesson on behalf of my sister. How dare you sleep with other men and tell me you don't have money. If you don't have money, I'll sell you!"

However, before his hand could come down, it was firmly grasped in mid-air.

The man was tall, blocking the glaring light, and his gaze fell unobscured on Harper.

"Miss, do you need help?"
