Chapter 304 Not So Easy
Wesley couldn't help but laugh. He looked at Francis's pale face and teased, "Didn't think Harper would outsmart you into a divorce."
Francis's face darkened. Wesley had been the one to spot Harper and call him over.
Wesley had overheard the whole conversation between the three women, but Francis only caught the word "jerk."
That didn't stop Wesley, the gossip lover, from filling him in on everything.
Seeing Francis's face get darker, Wesley laughed harder. Francis always mocked him for being single, and now they were both in the same boat.
"But you kept it quiet. I didn't know you two remarried," Wesley said, not caring if Francis responded. "I would've given you a big gift."
Francis ignored him while Wesley kept eavesdropping on the women.
"They're talking about finding Harper a boyfriend," Wesley chuckled. "You really blew it this time. No chance for you."
"No way." Francis took a swig of his drink, his voice icy. "I won't let her find a boyfriend."
He was determined to win her back, to make her remember him, Francis, again.
Whether Harper tricked him into a divorce or not didn't matter. He just wanted her to fall in love with him again, without forcing her.
Wesley looked at the redhead with her back to him and squinted. She seemed familiar.
After a moment, he realized she looked a bit like Molly from the Koch family.
But her voice was different, rougher, not like Molly's.
Curiosity got the better of Wesley, and he tried to get a look at her face, but the three women stood up and left.
Francis didn't follow. Instead, he called Victor to send someone to make sure Harper got home safely.
Just then, Robert came over, and Wesley let it go.
If Molly were really alive, Robert would lose it.
But something strange had happened recently.
Wesley stretched his legs and propped his chin. "Robert, did you send Molly's body away?"
Robert frowned slightly and nodded.
"What changed your mind?" Wesley had told him countless times to get rid of Molly's body. Even preserved, a corpse could carry bacteria.
Sleeping next to a mummified body—who could handle that? Even though Robert was his friend, Wesley found it creepy. It seemed like a mental issue, but Robert was sharp in business, not like someone with a mental illness.
Wesley had told him a million times, but Robert had been stubborn. Wesley wondered what changed his mind this time.
With a cigarette in his mouth, Robert casually dropped a bombshell. "Molly's back."
Wesley was stunned. "Back? What do you mean by back?"
Robert didn't explain. After that night, he searched all over Northfield but found no trace of Molly. It was like she vanished into thin air.
Zack had gently suggested he take more meds or see a doctor. But Robert knew he wasn't crazy. That was Molly, alive, not a hallucination.
Robert clearly remembered the hatred in Molly's eyes. That hatred told him she wouldn't let him off easy.
So, he decided to wait for Molly to come to him. He had leverage and believed she would come to him eventually.
For the next week, Francis stayed away from Harper.
Even the transfer of Tranquil Haven Retreat was handled by his assistant, Victor.
Though Harper didn't really want the house, she kept her promise and went with Victor to complete the paperwork.
After that, Harper got busy. Her studio had just opened, and there was a lot to do.
Her studio, Elodie Studios, was in the Northfield CBD area, where property was super expensive.
Harper felt renting wasn't cost-effective, so she bought a building and turned it into a shopping mall with various styles. The store offered high-end fashion, jewelry, and accessories, with advanced AI online shopping services.
Elodie Studios' grand opening caused quite a stir in Northfield. Some even compared it to Epoch Studio.
Epoch Studio was well-established in Northfield, serving big-name celebrities and the elite for years, earning many loyal customers.
However, the two had different styles. Elodie Studios' designs were inspired by Dreamlandia fashion and a style originally created by Harper's mother, Elodie Sackler.
Harper returned to Northfield to establish Elodie Studios to fulfill her mother Elodie's dream.
So, Harper was focused on doing this well.
One evening, Harper rushed to a star-rated restaurant in Northfield for a dinner meeting.
But she got stuck in traffic. Tonight, she was meeting with an entertainment company boss to discuss a collaboration.
Being late for a first meeting would leave a bad impression.
So, when she saw the elevator doors closing, Harper lost her composure and called out, "Wait a moment."
The doors, which were about to close, reopened at her words.
Harper entered, pressed the button for the fourteenth floor, and then turned to say thank you.
"No need to thank me." A familiar voice sounded in her ear.
Harper looked up to see the impeccably dressed, handsome Francis, and was momentarily stunned.
She hadn't expected the person holding the elevator for her to be Francis, who had disappeared for days. Beside him stood a graceful woman.
Instantly, Harper recalled Francis's confident words about pursuing her a few days ago. She hadn't expected him to vanish afterward. Men really did love to lie.
Fortunately, she hadn't taken him seriously. She pretended not to know him, lowered her head, and said nothing more.
Unexpectedly, the woman beside Francis spoke up, looking at her with great surprise. "Harper?"
