Chapter 313 We're Dating!

Francis's Adam's apple bobbed. "Harper, did you get your memory back?"

"No," Harper replied, just relating to the girl in the story her brother had told her.

Francis's eyes dimmed.

He wanted her to remember but not the bad stuff. It was complicated.

Not knowing what to say, he finally muttered, "I'm sorry."

He knew he'd messed up before.

But he never betrayed her, emotionally or physically.

He'd protected Chloe, but never loved her.

Harper looked at Francis's sad face with indifference.

"Mr. Getty, you know, not every 'sorry' gets an 'it's okay.' I can't decide if my past self would forgive you." Harper's voice was cold, unlike the passionate girl from last night.

Francis's chest tightened, feeling something slip away.

Just then, the doorbell rang.

Harper quickly opened the door.

"Harper, are you okay?" Vincent asked, holding her shoulders and looking her over. His concern made Harper uneasy.

"I'm fine, Vincent."

Vincent sighed in relief and patted her back. This small gesture irked Francis.

Francis suddenly grabbed Harper's wrist, glaring at Vincent.

"Don't touch her," he said coldly.

Harper instinctively grabbed Vincent's wrist.

Now, Francis was holding her, and she was holding Vincent.

The tension was thick.

Francis's face looked eerie, especially with the bloodstain from Harper's strike.

Harper stepped in front of Vincent to shield him from Francis's glare.

This warmed Vincent's heart.

Though he posed as an artist, the Perry family had power in the Emerald Isle.

Vincent left the constant fighting of the Perry family to live in Auroria for years.

He became close with Jasper and moved to Northfield when Jasper did.

Vincent loved Northfield's culture and people, unlike the lawless Emerald Isle.

But he wasn't weak; he didn't need a woman to protect him.

Vincent took Harper's hand, gently reassuring her, "It's okay."

This hurt Francis deeply. Harper was protecting another man right in front of him.

Harper felt uneasy, but Francis made her feel worse.

She glared at him. "Let go."

Francis, suppressing his anger, yanked her again. "Come back to me, and I'll let go!"

Harper's shoulder hurt from his grip, and she frowned.

Vincent, seeing this, put his arm around Harper's shoulder, his eyes cold. "Harper said, let go."

Francis's anger flared, his voice icy. "She's my wife. What gives you the right to talk?"

Vincent's voice was calm but firm. "Mr. Getty, 'wife' isn't the right term for an ex-wife who's already divorced."

Francis was caught off guard that Vincent knew about the divorce.

His face went pale, like he'd been hit by a ton of bricks.

With red eyes, he looked at Harper and hoarsely asked, "Harper, what's your relationship with him?"

Francis looked pale and exhausted, his eyes bloodshot, showing deep sorrow.

He couldn't take any more heartbreak.

Harper's expression was ice-cold.

She had no relationship with Vincent, but she didn't want to give Francis any hope.

Seeing Harper's troubled look, Vincent raised an eyebrow and said, "Harper and I are dating with plans to marry, and Jasper approves."

Francis felt like he'd been struck by lightning.

His eyes turned red as he stared at Harper, ignoring Vincent. "Is that true?"

Harper was shocked Vincent said that.

Jasper approved? Dating with plans to marry?

She was confused but, thinking of Francis's controlling nature, she deliberately said, "Yes, we are dating!"

Those words hit Francis like an atomic bomb, shattering his heart. His face went ghostly pale.

Harper took the chance to pull her hand away. "Mr. Getty, please stop bothering me. I don't want Vincent to misunderstand."

Francis stiffened, feeling like Harper's words had broken him into pieces.

"No!" Francis suddenly roared, "You promised you wouldn't marry for six months!"

"Yes, we're just dating with plans to marry, not married yet," Harper said. "I'll keep my promise and wait six months."

Francis felt like his head was going to explode.

"Harper, think carefully. I divorced you for fairness, not to give up on you. Do you think you can marry another man? Do you think I'll just watch that happen?" Francis's face twisted with anger, every word a veiled threat.

Vincent pulled Harper behind him, standing protectively. "Mr. Getty, Northfield has laws! If you want to play tough, remember who we are. Harper is the Murphy family's daughter, not the orphan you used to bully. If you mess with her, the Murphy family and the Perry family from the Emerald Isle won't let you off."

Francis's eyes narrowed. The Emerald Isle! The independent nation in the northern part of Earth.

It was ruled by two major families.

One was the Charles family, and the other was the powerful Perry family, which was originated from Dreamlandia!

Especially the Perry family, incredibly wealthy and influential in the Emerald Isle.

He didn't expect the seemingly unknown Vincent was actually from the Perry family.

Francis sneered, "I've heard the families in the Emerald Isle value honor and rules. I wonder how Mr. Perry justifies stealing someone's girlfriend!"
