Chapter 331 Air

Audrey's snooty tone was obvious over the phone.

Harper struggled to keep her cool and wanted to hang up right away.

'Audrey is Francis's fiancée?' Harper was shocked. What was Francis thinking when he was chasing her? 'Francis, you jerk!' she cursed in her head.

Harper calmly said, "Sorry, I didn't know you were engaged. I won't bother you again."

She wasn't feeling guilty, just being straightforward. If she had known, she would've avoided Francis from the start. All their interactions were forced by him, proving how awful he was.

Audrey smirked, "You're smart, right? Haven't you seen the news about us?"

She brought up the news on purpose, even though Francis had tried to scrub it from the internet. But with some digging, anyone could find reports about the Hernandez and Getty families planning a marriage.

Audrey wasn't worried about Francis explaining things to Harper. It would only make things worse. She wasn't lying; their marriage was just a matter of time. She had everything planned, but Harper's return messed things up.

Audrey smiled, "Three years ago, news about our families' marriage plans was everywhere. The Getty Group has kept a low profile lately, but everyone knows. I hope you understand this was a misunderstanding and will act appropriately in the future. Have some self-respect."

Audrey's words felt like slaps to Harper's face.

Harper coldly replied, "Ms. Hernandez, if you've been planning this for three years, does that mean you've considered yourself Francis's fiancée all this time?"

Audrey proudly said, "Not considered, it's a fact."

"Is it? Then here's another fact," Harper paused, "Ten days ago, your 'fiancé' was still legally my husband. You've been acting engaged for three years. Thanks for the reminder, Ms. Hernandez. I might pursue this matter."

Audrey's smile vanished, and her voice wavered. "What did you say?"

Audrey thought Harper and Francis had divorced before Harper's death. When did they remarry? She had no clue. And Francis hadn't annulled their marriage after Harper's death? She found it unbelievable. Her superiority crumbled.

"I said, the one who should have some self-respect is you. And I didn't call to fight over a man. I don't care for someone like him." Harper sneered. Anyone who wanted Francis could have him!

Outside, Agnes overheard and caught the part about Francis having a fiancée. 'What! Daddy Francis has a fiancée?' she realized, shock on her face.

Agnes had asked Zoey at an engagement party before, and a fiancée means a woman about to become a wife. But Francis had told her he didn't have one and only liked Harper. What a liar!

Agnes grabbed her pink phone and started typing.

When Harper came out, she saw Agnes holding her little purse, waiting happily.

Harper felt a bit troubled and said, "Agnes, can we just go to the amusement park with Zoey today?"

"Of course, Mommy." Agnes tried to look happy and said, "Mommy, from now on, I don't want a Dad anymore. You're enough."

Agnes was really disappointed in Francis. She didn't expect him to be such a big liar. She felt bad for letting Harper get hurt.

Harper found Agnes's sudden change odd but brushed it off, thinking kids' emotions are fleeting.

As they were about to leave, Vincent showed up with a pretty gift box featuring a princess design.

"Vincent!" Agnes ran over, excited to see the new doll she had mentioned to him a few days ago.

Seeing their outfits, Vincent asked, "Heading out?"

Agnes, hugging the doll, replied, "Vincent, Mommy and I are going to the park. Want to come?"

"Is that an invite from you, Agnes?" Vincent asked, squatting down.

"Yes, come with us," Agnes insisted.

Vincent looked at Harper, who quickly said, "Agnes, Vincent is busy."

"Is that so? It's okay, Vincent," Agnes said, not upset.

Vincent cleared his throat. "Actually, I'm free today."

Harper was surprised.

"Is it okay if I join you?" Vincent asked again.

Harper hesitated, "Sure, but Agnes might be a bit noisy. If you don't mind..."

"Of course not. I enjoy being with Agnes," Vincent said.

So, the trio became a quartet.

Zoey, eager to matchmake Harper and Vincent, took the initiative to sit with Agnes on some safe rides.

Harper and Vincent sat on the sidelines in silence.

"That day..." They both started speaking at the same time.

Vincent gestured for Harper to go first.

"Sorry, Vincent. When I said we were dating, I was just trying to annoy Francis and get rid of him," Harper admitted.

She continued, "You're great, but I've always seen you as a brother. You want a marriage partner, but I don't think I can be that for you."

Harper had known Vincent for nearly three years, and he felt like family to her. After the Francis incident, she was even more cautious about finding a stepfather for Agnes.

Vincent understood, feeling a slight pang. "I get it. If you need, you can always use me as your shield without any burden."

"Vincent," Harper felt even more guilty.

Vincent smiled warmly, "Harper, I don't really understand love either. I just want to find a suitable woman. Thinking back, I know it was too hasty and unfair to you, so forget what I said."

Harper felt relieved. If Vincent had truly liked her, she would have felt very sorry because she couldn't reciprocate.

Harper smiled, "Thank you, Vincent."

Vincent also smiled, "To me, you're like my sister. If you need anything, just come to me. Don't treat me as an outsider."

"Okay, Vincent," Harper replied.

After their talk, everyone had a great time for the rest of the day.

In front of a giant robot, Agnes insisted on taking a picture with it. Vincent lifted her onto his shoulders for the photo.

Meanwhile, Francis returned to his office and saw Audrey, frowning. "What are you doing here?"

Audrey smiled, "I brought over the project files."

"Okay," Francis said, not even looking at her, and started working on his desk.

Audrey stood there, feeling ignored and humiliated. "Francis, I just wanted to see..."

Francis cut her off, frowning. "Why are you still here?"

Audrey felt humiliated. As a wealthy socialite, she had never been so despised. Staying longer would only add to her humiliation.

She said nothing and turned to leave.

Francis noticed his phone wasn't in its usual place and called out, "Wait. Did you touch my phone?"
