Chapter 156 I Won't Marry for Alliance

Francis gritted his teeth and tightened his grip on her shoulder. "I won't allow you to say that."

Harper truly hadn't expected that the divorce would bring such a drastic change in Francis.

In fact, she hadn't let go either. When she lost her baby, her chest was filled with resentment, and she blamed Francis even more.

She wanted to hate him to make herself feel better.

But now, she wanted to try to let go. She thought, ‘Isn't to let go of obsessions the first step to start overmove on?’

Harper brushed off his hand from her shoulder, straightened her back, and looked at him with an exceptionally indifferent gaze.

"Francis, I don’t care what you think, and we will start our own new lives. The best exes are those who can calmly offer blessings when the other gets married. If you can't do that, I won't force you, but please don't interfere with my life."

Francis thought, ‘Blessings? Get married? Don’t interfere?’

Francis He lifted his cold as icecold-as-ice gaze.

"You're planning to remarry?"

Harper glanced at him in puzzleconfusion.

‘Does he expect her me to stay single for the rest of her life?’ Harper She thought.

She had just been unlucky in love with him, which didn't mean she had written off all men.

Maybe because most of her family had passed away, deep down, she still longed to build a family of her own.

But now, she wasn't in a hurry to start a new relationship. Even if she met a man she really liked, she would be more cautious and clear-headed.

However, these were things she could have considered right now. At the moment, she needed to focus on improving herself.

She honestly expressed her thoughts as she said, saying, "I'm only 22. Even if I don't have a marriage prospect now, I will eventually."

Instantly, the veins on the back of Francis' hands bulged, and his heart ached intensely. His thought of locking her up deepened.

She actually wanted to remarry and expected him to give her his blessing.

With a blank expression and gritted teeth, he said, "Then go ahead and try."

Harper gave him a steady look, then pushed past him and walked out of the elevator.

Behind her, Francis' handsome face darkened like a stormy sky.

He watched her back with his cold eyes and said, "Harper, you will come back to me."

His tone was as certain as when Harper had said he would definitely get divorced.

Harper's heart raced, and she quickly shut the door.

Then, her entire body slumped against the door.

The determination in his voice made her feel terrified.

Their past, with its genuine sweetness and unforgettable pain, was something she really didn't want to continue.

She couldn't bear the continuous harm he brought her and could no longer pretend to be calm.

Outside the her apartment,

Francis looked at the door and felt as if Harper didn’t just shut the upthem up, but she shut him out.

She really seemed determined to leave him and start a new life.

All those sweet moments they had and how sensitive and delighted she was in his arms.

Had she really forgotten all?

The thought of her with another man while her eyes were full of charm and her face was so blushed and emotional, made these horrifying thoughts strike him.

His phone rang and interrupted his thoughts.

It was from the Getty family estate saying an urgent matter requiring, saying an urgent matter required his return.

Before turning away, he took one last look at the tightly closed door.

He thought, ‘Does she want to stay away from himme? ’

‘That depends on himme.’

By the time Francis arrived at the old estate, it was already late at night.

As soon as he walked in, he saw a mess everywhere. Abigail was crouching by the bed and crying with her face in her hands, while Ryan Getty just stood there without even a glance.

Seeing the strong-willed Abigail so vulnerable made Francis' heart tighten. He stepped forward to help her up and then looked at Ryan with an icy gaze.

"You just got back to the country today. Aren't you going to take a break?"

His implication was clear. He was annoyed by Ryan's restlessness.

Ryan's eyes turned colder. "Do you still see me as your father?"

Francis' voice turned sharp. "Then you should act like one."

Ryan sneered as he said, "Do you think I am the one who started the fight with her? I didn’t even say much before she started smashing things. I don't even want to come home."

Abigail suddenly stood up and cursed, "You bastard. Do you think I want to see you? If it weren't for Dylan's health, I'd divorce you right now."

"Enough. I didn't come back to see you," Ryan said impatiently.

He then glanced at Francis and said, "Come with me."

He turned to the study.

Once inside, Ryan tossed a photo at Francis and said, "I know about your divorce. This is Lily Sullivan, the only daughter of the Sullivan Lily family. You're meeting her tomorrow."

Francis' face turned cold. "What do you mean by this?"

Ryan gave him a glance. "What do you think it means? I've let you fool around for two years. Now it's time to get the marriage alliance on the agenda."

"I won't marry for an alliance," Francis refused.

Ryan acted as if he hadn't heard what he said. He lighted a cigar and said, "The Sullivan Lily family's new energy resources can help us secure 70% of the international market. I'm very satisfied. I just want you to go through the motion by meeting her. And no matter what, you will marry her."

Francis walked to the window, opened it to let out the smoke, and said with a leisurely voice, "Since you're so satisfied, you can marry her. I never see any one of your mistresses can contribute to the Getty family."

Ryan choked in anger, coughed for a while before standing up, and slammed the table in a fit of rage.

"Francis, I'm not negotiating with you. If you dare disobey me, just go."

Francis looked at the self-righteous Ryan and said as with anger glimmering in his eyes turned cold, "I'm not negotiating with you either. I believe I hold more shares than you, so it's not your place to tell me to get out."

He continued to say, "I advise you to stay abroad and meddle less in the company's affairs."

Ryan seemed to be beyond anger, so instead, he just sneered.

"You really are the good son raised by your grandfather and mother and born to piss me off."

Francis replied indifferently, "Thank you for the compliment."

His reaction only made Ryan more furious.

Ryan stared at Francis and said, "Why am I doing this? I’m doing all this for the future of the company. I suggest you think more about your mother and grandfather."

The first part of his sentence was affectionate, but the latter part was a threat.

Francis' eyes grew even colder.

He looked at Ryan with a deep gaze and asked, "Are you really doing this for me?"

Ryan was caught off guard by the question, and his eyes flicker flickered as he said, "Of course, I'm doing this for you."

A flash of mockery crossed Francis' eyes, and he changed his mind as he said, "I'll see her."
