Chapter 88 An Illegitimate Child

Amelia's words carried a hint of desperation and a threat.

Chloe's eyes flashed with a trace of ruthlessness. She knew that Amelia no longer held any value for her.

Xenia spoke up to interrupt, "Amelia, I don’t agree with what you said. Miss Musk had never asked you to go against Harper, had she? Miss Musk just guessed that Harper might be pregnant, and she shared her thoughts with you because she took you as her friend. She never said that she wanted you to harm Harper’s child."

Upon hearing that, Amelia suddenly remembered that Chloe had never explicitly said those things.

But she still felt that something was strange. If it wasn't for Chloe's pleas and implications, why would she have gone against Harper?

Chloe then said softly, "Xenia, don't say that. I consider Amelia as my friend, and of course, I'll help her through this difficult time."

She gestured for Xenia to go inside and bring out several stacks of cash, about tens of thousands of dollars.

Chloe held Amelia’s hand and said, "Amelia, it's not that I won't help you, but Francis has warned that anyone who dares to help you is going against Getty Group. But seeing you like this wrings my heart. Here's $60,000. Take it and spend it. I have all my money tied up in investments recently, but once I have money, I will help you."

Amelia's face turned cold. It couldn’t even cover her daily expenses in the country. She couldn’t go abroad without money.

Chloe continued, "Actually, I heard from a friend who worked at the hospital that Harper's Grandma was in poor health and might die at any time. We didn't expect her to be so merciless, blaming her Grandma's death on you and inciting Francis to issue a ban against you."

As she said that, she raised the back of her hand and wiped away the tears in the corner of her eyes. She continued, "Amelia, I really want to help you, but Francis is completely infatuated with Harper now and doesn't listen to me. We underestimated Harper."

Amelia's eyes turned red, and she said resentfully, "It's that woman's fault! I wouldn't be in this situation if it weren't for her. I will never forgive her!"

Chloe pretended to be panic-stricken and said, "Amelia, please don't go to her again. Because of her, you have lost everything."

That did serve as a reminder for Amelia. She was already ruined, with nothing left.

She would not be afraid or worried no matter how difficult things got.

Amelia gritted her teeth and said, "I will never let that woman go!"

After that, Amelia took the money and was about to leave.

A cold smile flashed in Chloe's eyes, but her voice sounded gentle. "Amelia, even though I can't help you with money, remember that I will always stand by your side."

Amelia felt warmth in her heart and said, "Thank you, Chloe."

As the door closed, Xenia looked at Chloe with a sense of satisfaction.

"Miss Musk, you did well."

Both of them were sly, like foxes. They understood each other's tricks.

With just a few words, Chloe had drained Amelia of her last bit of value.

Now Amelia was like a desperate and crazy dog, bound to do something crazy.

Chloe was just waiting to watch the show.

Chloe's eyes were as cold as a venomous snake. She thought it would be good if Amelia could kill Harper and the child in Harper’s belly together.

She thought with disdain, ‘I don’t need to do it myself. It would only dirty my hands.’

In Yuejing Villa, Harper's phone was smashed by Francis. She was unable to contact the others, and she didn't know if Francis had gone to find Keith.

Keith helped her multiple times out of kindness, so she was afraid that Francis would ruin Keith’s career or harm him.

She spent the whole night worrying, afraid that her troubles would cause trouble for Keith.

At noon, the maid came. When the maid noticed that Harper had no appetite, she kept persuading her to eat some. In just a few days, Harper had lost a lot of weight. Her steps were unsteady when she walked.

Harper looked at the maid and thought for a moment before asking, "Can I borrow your phone to make a call?"

The maid was hesitant because Francis had ordered that Harper was not allowed to go out, naturally meaning she couldn't contact anyone either.

But the maid could see that Harper had been in low spirits these past few days. She thought that if making a phone call would improve her mood even a little, it shouldn't be a problem.

She handed Harper the phone and went to clean the kitchen.

Harper didn’t remember Keith's number, but she remembered Molly's phone number. After confirming that nothing had happened to Keith, she finally breathed a sigh of relief.

Molly was currently at the hospital, accompanying her father. She had just gotten the news about the death of Harper’s Grandma, and she felt a little disappointed.

"Harper, why didn't you tell me earlier? Am I still your friend?"

Harper pursed her lips and said, "I'm sorry, Molly. I was in a lot of trouble at that time and didn't have time to notify anyone."

Molly couldn't truly blame Harper, so she quickly said, "Harper, what I care about is that when you were feeling so upset, I couldn't be by your side. It's really hard for me to think about."

Harper nodded, "I know."

They had been friends for years. Harper wouldn't misunderstand Molly.

After hanging up the phone, Harper felt much better. Under the maid’s watch, she drank some soup. She then went upstairs to rest.

When it was almost dark, Francis, who had been missing for two days, finally returned.

He looked unhappy, and he went straight upstairs as soon as he entered. He seemed to be in a bad mood.

He kicked open the bedroom door.

Harper was startled, and before she could speak, she was grabbed by the collar and dragged out of bed. Francis pulled her outside.

Harper couldn't stand steadily on her feet and almost fell. She tightly held onto his hand and angrily asked, "Francis, what's wrong with you again?"

Francis suddenly looked up, his dark face making Harper shudder involuntarily.

"Harper, how dare you deceive me?"

Harper's heart skipped a beat. She thought, ‘Could it be that he knew the child was his?’

She forced herself to remain calm and said, "Why?"

Francis raised his hand, and a pile of photos came crashing down.

She could tell that the photos were taken when she was at the hospital with Keith. The surveillance cameras at the hospital recorded Keith’s and her appearances at the obstetrics and gynecology department.

That was not everything Victor had found. The doctors at the hospital confirmed that it was Keith who accompanied Harper to have her prenatal check-ups.

And the doctor mistakenly thought that Harper was Keith’s wife.

When everything was confirmed, Francis felt desperate, as if he had been pushed into an abyss.

He thought, ‘I had been nice to her, hadn’t I? Why does she betray me?’

Francis gritted his teeth and asked, "Do you have anything else to say?"

Harper hesitated, her face turning pale as she said, "You misunderstood. I can explain."

"All right, explain it to me. Is this woman in the photos you?"

Harper took a deep breath and said, "Yes, it's me, but it's all just a coincidence." She didn’t deny it, but it was indeed a coincidence that Keith took her to the hospital twice.

"A coincidence?" Francis sneered as if he had just heard a joke. He said coldly, "Even the doctor thought you were a couple. Is it really a coincidence?"

Harper's lips moved as she explained weakly, "The doctor just misunderstood."

"Do you believe that yourself?"

Francis didn't even look at her. He clenched Harper's hand tightly and walked downstairs.

Harper panicked, struggling desperately to break free from his grip. She asked in a trembling voice, "Where are you going?"

Francis paused his steps and looked down at her with cold eyes that could strike fear into anyone’s heart, especially Harper's.

"Of course, we're getting rid of this child."
