Chapter 610 Sooner or Later, He'll Get Himself Killed

Adrian was a guy with his own plans, and he wasn't about to show his hand too soon. "Max, where'd you hear that nonsense? It's not true. Robert's my brother-in-law. We might argue, but we're still family," he said, playing it cool.

Adrian wasn't in a rush, but someone else was. Max, looking as if he were on pins and needles, suddenly jumped up. "Mr. Mitchell, Robert's got big ambitions. Remember the Koch family mess?"

Everyone knew the Koch family was Molly's. They had beef with the Perot family, and when Robert came back, he wiped them out, took over their business, and kept Molly around just to mess with her. No wonder Molly hated Robert.

Adrian, being the heir for so long, wasn't dumb. He played dumb though, saying, "What's the Koch family got to do with me? Isn't Robert's ambition a good thing?"

Max was fuming. Adrian used to be clueless, but now he was playing games, making Max spell it out. Seemed like Adrian had picked up some tricks from Robert.

But Max thought about his own situation. He couldn't compare to Adrian. No matter how bad Adrian was, he still had Patrick's protection. Max had nothing. If he couldn't get back to Northfield, he was done for. Everything he relied on was there.

Max, determined, said, "Since Robert could take over the Koch family, haven't you thought that marrying Rosie is just a front? He might want to take over the Mitchell family too. He took a big hit this time, and getting the Perot Group back on top won't be easy."

Adrian stayed calm. "Max, you're blowing this out of proportion. If Robert wants to take over our family, he'd have to get my dad's approval. And my dad's not someone to mess with."

Patrick had made his way in the tough business world. He wasn't a simple guy. If Robert wanted to take over the Mitchell family business, Patrick wouldn't just hand it over. He must have something on Robert, keeping him in check.

"Mr. Adrian Mitchell, to be blunt, Mr. Patrick Mitchell isn't young anymore. Anything could happen." Seeing Adrian's displeasure, Max quickly added, "Of course, I'm not wishing anything bad. But with Robert, we have to be cautious. Look at me—I used to live in Northfield, and now I'm laying low like I'm on the run."

Max shed a couple of fake tears and said bitterly, "I just wanted to hook up with Molly, and he did this to me."

Adrian tried to comfort him. "Max, you've had it rough. Robert was wrong to do that to you over a woman."

Max felt a bit of comfort and quickly said, "I heard Robert's grudge against you is also because of Molly."

Adrian kept quiet. Max said, "Mr. Mitchell, I just want to come back and be on your side."

Adrian hated people beating around the bush. If Max came to him, he must have something up his sleeve. He should lay his cards on the table and let Adrian decide if he was interested. Max was making things way too complicated.

Adrian, getting impatient, said, "Max, I get your situation, but I can't help. You know how Robert is; I can't get involved in your mess."

Seeing Adrian was about to brush him off, Max decided to cut to the chase. "Mr. Mitchell, I've got something to show you."

Max quickly pulled out his phone, found a photo, and showed it to Adrian with a sly grin. "I heard Robert's been looking for Molly. Well, guess what? I found her."

Adrian looked at the photo of Molly, her beautiful face making his eyes narrow slightly. No wonder Robert couldn't let her go.

Adrian leaned back on the couch. "Max, if you have this info, why not go to Robert? He's the one looking for Molly, not me."

Max, trying to win Adrian over, said, "I've been burned by Robert before. I can't trust him. Bringing this to you shows my sincerity. Mr. Mitchell, you're smart and capable. With this info, you decide what to do. I'll follow your lead. When I get back to Northfield, I'll always have your back."

Max's flattery worked. Adrian felt pleased. Ever since Robert showed up, Adrian felt like nothing in Patrick's eyes. If Robert was genuinely helping him, it would be fine, but he was too harsh. Adrian couldn't even speak against him without getting beaten up the next day.

After Robert married Rosie, things would only get worse for Adrian. He had to think ahead. "Max, are you serious about this?" Adrian asked.

Max nodded eagerly. "Absolutely, Mr. Mitchell. I'm a loyal guy."

Max wasn't dumb. If he tried to use this photo to threaten Robert, Robert might let him back into Northfield for Molly's info. But Max had already been burned once and knew Robert couldn't be threatened. Adrian was proof of that.

So, Max decided to share the info with Adrian, hoping to gain a favor and an ally to help him stay strong in Northfield. Adrian looked at Molly's photo and then gave Max some advice. "Go tell Robert."

Max was stunned. After all that, Adrian just told him to go to Robert? How was that any different from doing it himself?

Adrian continued, "Max, we're family. I'll help you out in the future. Just tell Robert about Molly's whereabouts and leave the rest to me."

Adrian had his own plans. Instead of using Molly's info to threaten Robert, it was better to let him know and bring Molly back to stir things up. Any woman in the world would be jealous. When Rosie found out, she wouldn't stay calm.

Robert was crazy to keep a vengeful woman like Molly around. It would eventually backfire on him. Adrian didn't need to do anything; he could just sit back and watch the drama unfold.

Max couldn't quite grasp Adrian's plan, but since Adrian had accepted the favor, he didn't ask any more questions. He did as Adrian suggested and immediately went to find Robert.

Rosie had been sticking to Robert like glue these past few days. She couldn't shake Adrian's words from a few days ago. When she threw a fit later, Robert didn't comfort her; he just said he was busy.

She felt uneasy, constantly thinking about Adrian's claim that Robert didn't want to have a child with her. 'What a joke,' she thought. 'If not with me, then with whom?'

In three months, she'd be officially married to him. She planned to keep a close eye on Robert and get pregnant as soon as possible, not giving any other woman a chance.

Rosie was sitting in Robert's lounge, waiting for him to finish work so they could have dinner together. But no matter how long she waited, Robert was nowhere to be seen.

It was already getting dark. Rosie couldn't sit still and went to find Robert's assistant, Zack.

Zack stammered, "Mr. Perot has something to discuss with a business partner."

"What?" Rosie was a bit annoyed, thinking she should be more important than any business partner. "How long will it take?"

Zack said, "Mr. Perot asked me to take you home first."

Rosie frowned. "No need, I can wait a bit longer."

"I'm afraid that's not possible. Mr. Perot is meeting a very important guest," Zack said.

Rosie looked at Zack suspiciously and suddenly walked over and opened the door to the VIP meeting room.

"Hey, Ms. Mitchell." Zack couldn't stop her in time.

Rosie saw the empty meeting room and turned around, angrily asking, "Where is Mr. Perot?" He had clearly promised to have dinner with her tonight, so where had he disappeared to?

Zack coughed and said, "Mr. Perot had to leave on a very urgent business trip. He asked me to take care of you and promised to make it up to you when he returns."

Rosie was very angry, thinking he could have told her about it. She wasn't unreasonable. He had even forgotten she was at the Perot Group. What could be so urgent?

Rosie took out her phone and called Robert, but a mechanical female voice answered. "Sorry, the number you have dialed is currently switched off."

Rosie felt even more uneasy. 'His phone is off; where could he have gone?' She stared at Zack and said unkindly, "Zack, tell me the truth. Where exactly did Mr. Perot go?"

He replied, "I'm not lying to you. Mr. Perot really went on a business trip. There's a very important matter in the international market that only he can handle."

Zack's words were already contradictory. But he couldn't come up with a perfect lie. Robert hadn't informed him and had just disappeared.

Zack didn't know where Robert had gone either. With the phone off, he could only make something up and then try to find Robert's whereabouts.

Zack gestured to the secretary, who brought over a bag from a luxury jewelry brand, and tried to placate Rosie, "This is something Mr. Perot ordered for you a few days ago. He was going to give it to you personally, but since he left in a hurry, he asked me to give it to you. He said he would bring you more gifts when he returns."

Rosie saw that it was the latest necklace from a luxury brand. This wasn't something money could easily buy. New releases were always limited editions, requiring not just money but also a prestigious status.

Rosie's vanity was satisfied, but she was still a bit angry. She looked up and asked Zack, "Did he really order this?"

Zack, without missing a beat, said, "Of course, Mr. Perot specifically instructed it." These jewels weren't bought by Robert; he didn't have the time for that. He had just given Zack a card and told him to handle it.

Whenever Rosie was unhappy, Zack would buy something. So, in the months since their engagement, Rosie had received many 'personally prepared' gifts from Robert, which had calmed a lot of her resentment.

Seeing Rosie's expression soften, Zack continued to persuade her, "Ms. Mitchell, Mr. Perot really feels guilty towards you, but he's doing business for a better future. Please don't misunderstand him."

Rosie, deeply in love and easy to placate, immediately stopped being angry. "Alright, I understand. Zack, do you know which country he went to? He left in such a hurry; I don't know if he took everything he needed. I want to fly over and bring him some things."

Hearing that, Zack was alarmed and quickly waved his hand. "There's no need, Ms. Mitchell. Mr. Perot has Ronan with him, who will prepare everything. Besides, he might be back in a day or two. You wouldn't make it in time. Just wait at home."

After much effort, Zack finally managed to send Rosie away. He breathed a sigh of relief and started calling Robert again, but still, no one answered.

Zack was very troubled. He didn't know what Robert was doing. At least he could have informed him so he could handle things.

Rosie got into the car, and just as the driver was about to leave, someone blocked the car. Rosie saw a somewhat familiar face and asked the driver to lower the window.

Outside the window, Max had a fake smile on his face. "Ms. Mitchell, long time no see. How have you been?"

Rosie didn't think highly of Max. She had heard he was quite the playboy and even hit women. Thalia had given a lot of Mitchell Group's business to Max to protect her sister from being beaten.

But later, for some reason, he had offended someone and rarely appeared in Northfield. It had been a while since she had seen Max. Rosie didn't care much about Max, so she didn't know he had offended Robert.

"Max, why are you blocking my car?" Rosie frowned. She didn't like Max, so her tone wasn't friendly.

Max didn't feel embarrassed and continued to smile kindly. "It's been a long time since I saw you, Ms. Mitchell. I just wanted to say hello. You're getting more and more beautiful."

Max's lecherous gaze kept wandering over Rosie, making her very uncomfortable. Rosie was immediately displeased. She had heard that Max had once had designs on Thalia.

Once, Thalia and her sister went out, and Max pretended to be drunk and climbed into Thalia's bed, trying to undress her. After Thalia beat him up, Max continued to pretend he was drunk.

"Max, if you have nothing else, I'll be leaving." Rosie, feeling disgusted, asked the driver to raise the window.

"Hey, Ms. Mitchell, are you in a hurry to chase after Mr. Perot?" Max suddenly said.

Rosie immediately stopped the window and asked with wide eyes, "What did you say?"

"I just saw Mr. Perot. He drove off himself," Max said.
