Chapter 451 Are You Disappointed?
Molly got tossed into a ward.
Robert wasn’t rocking a hospital gown; instead, he was decked out in a smoky gray suit, black tee underneath, and a slick silver watch. He looked young and sharp.
Zack handed over the encrypted file to Robert, then turned around, shut the door, and locked it.
Molly wasn’t planning on making a run for it. If Robert wanted her, he’d find her even if she dug herself a hole in Northfield.
Robert strolled over to her. His tee had a low neckline, showing off his collarbone, making him look both sexy and kinda dangerous.
“Where were you last night?” Robert asked.
Molly stayed silent, so Robert stepped closer, his face cold. “With another guy?”
“Cat got your tongue?” Robert raised an eyebrow, reaching out with his long fingers. “Guess I’ll check myself.”
Molly tried to step back but had nowhere to go.
Robert grabbed her waist. Molly snapped, “Robert, get off me, you crazy bastard.”
Robert, seemingly satisfied, eased up a bit. “Good thing you weren’t.”
Otherwise, he might’ve lost it and made love to her a bunch of times just to erase another guy’s scent.
Molly was fuming. She kicked Robert’s calf hard and stepped back, cursing, “Get away from me.”
Robert, like some unfeeling robot, didn’t even flinch. He just looked at her and said, “Molly, quite impressive.”
His voice was icy. He wasn’t giving her a compliment. Molly stayed quiet, letting him continue, “I’m not dead. Disappointed?”
Molly sneered, “You already know the answer.”
Robert stopped a few feet away, his handsome face cold as ice. “Where are you planning to send this file?”
Molly said, “Where it belongs.”
Robert suddenly chuckled. He’d given her so many chances. Even if she’d hesitated in carrying out her plan for a second, he’d have found a hundred reasons to keep putting up with her. But she didn’t. She didn’t care about the damage she caused him. All she cared about was whether he was dead or not.
Robert’s face turned terrifyingly cold. “You pretended to compromise and stayed at the villa to take care of me, just to steal that file and use it as leverage with Adrian?”
“Mr. Perot, you’re smart.” Molly was clearly mocking him. She wasn’t surprised he found out.
After all, the Mitchell family and the Perot family were tight. If Adrian took a hit, he’d definitely warn Robert.
But Adrian should be in hot water now. Just moments ago, she’d posted all of Adrian’s scandalous videos on the Mitchell Group’s website. The Mitchell Group must be in chaos, and the internet should be buzzing with his scandal. The Mitchell family would have to work overtime to suppress the news.
And they’d definitely figure out where the videos leaked from.
Last time, Robert turned down the Mitchell family’s marriage proposal because of a woman. This time, Robert messed up again because of a woman, effectively trashing Adrian’s reputation.
Robert had put the Mitchell family in a bad spot more than once. The rift between the Perot family and the Mitchell family was deep. The Mitchell family’s efforts to save face would undoubtedly help send Robert to prison.
During the whole contract mess, the Mitchell family was in on it too, so they weren't exactly innocent. Molly was loving the drama between them.
Robert could see right through Molly's games. The funny part? While he was figuring out how to be good to her and make her stay, she was plotting how to hurt him the most.
Robert squinted and sneered, "You've really gone all out trying to send me to prison."
His dark eyes were intense, like one look could snuff out the light in her eyes.
Molly wasn’t scared. She kept her cool and said, "Same to you, Mr. Perot. Must’ve been exhausting playing along with me."
By now, she got it. Robert was playing her too. Otherwise, how would he know so much about her stealing the file?
Logically, when she met Adrian to trade the file, Robert should’ve shown up to bust her. But he didn’t expect to get dunked in the bathtub, giving Molly a chance to bolt.
Now, the calm on his face showed he still thought he had it all under control. Molly sneered inside. Robert would soon pay for his arrogance.
She reached out to straighten Robert's suit, like she was dusting it off, her tone mocking, "Mr. Perot, you're such a good actor. Worth every bit of my effort."
Robert didn’t smile or get mad, his emotions locked down tight.
He took the lead, gently lifting Molly's chin, coldly saying, "Molly, I'll give you one last chance. Say you'll stay by my side and never get involved with another man again."
He paused, looking like he was making a huge sacrifice, his thumb pressing hard, and said, "I'll let this go."
Molly thought Robert was seriously twisted. Things had gone this far, and he was still saying such unrealistic stuff.
Even if she said it, would he really believe it? For two people with deep-seated hatred, promises or oaths meant nothing. They were like a shattered mirror. No matter how he glued it, the cracks stayed ugly, making anyone looking in the mirror look ugly too.
"Let it go?" Molly suppressed her anger, her eyelashes trembling as she said, "Robert, tell me, how would you let go of the hatred for a man who forced your father to death? I wish you were dead, and you're talking about letting it go?"
"Molly, I never meant to force Harrison to death. I didn’t send that file to him."
Robert wasn’t one to explain, but that incident was his biggest regret. If Harrison hadn’t died, they wouldn’t be in this mess now. If he’d realized earlier that his love for Molly outweighed his hatred, things wouldn’t be so broken. But it all happened.
Molly laughed coldly, "You wanna say it was Quinn who did it, right?"
Robert didn’t speak, but his eyes said it all.
"If it weren’t for you, would Quinn hate me so much? Would she have thought to harm my dad?" Molly’s laughter turned to tears, the past memories making her heart ache. "Robert, this is karma. My biggest mistake in life is meeting you!"
Robert knew there was no fixing things between them. They were done.
All Molly wanted was his life.
At that moment, the door got kicked open, and Zack rushed in, frantic. "Mr. Perot, there are a lot of cops downstairs."
