Chapter 578 Die with a Grievance!

The knocking on the door wasn't frantic; it had a steady rhythm to it.

Elara figured it was just a family member, so she tossed on a coat over her dress and necklace, not bothering to change. She wrapped herself up a bit and went to answer the door.

When she opened it, she was met with a calm and elegant face.

Seeing who it was, Elara froze in fear.

She stood there for a few seconds, mouth open, unable to speak.

Arthur gave her a deceptive smile, "Aren't you going to invite me in?"

Elara stammered, "Mr. Hernandez,"

Arthur walked right past her and made himself comfortable on the only sofa. He looked at Elara, who was still standing at the door in shock, and said, "Close the door and come over."

With trembling hands, Elara closed the door and took a few hesitant steps toward the sofa, but she didn't dare get too close.

Her face was pale with fear, and she held her breath, not making a sound.

"Scared?" Arthur asked, looking quite friendly. "Do you know why I'm here?"

Elara had hoped Arthur wasn't here for that reason, but her hope was crushed in an instant.

She started shaking and immediately knelt down. "Mr. Hernandez, please forgive me."

She lowered her head, sobbing, "I was forced."

"How did she force you?" Arthur crossed his long legs, looking relaxed. "Tell me everything."

Elara clutched her coat tightly, trembling, "She asked me to deliver some embroidery to someone outside. She said if I didn't, she'd make up a reason to tell you I did something wrong and have you kill me. I was so scared I couldn't refuse."

"What did you do?" Arthur's voice stayed calm.

Despite all the rumors, Elara had never seen it with her own eyes. Plus, Arthur seemed pretty composed. Maybe there was still a sliver of hope.

Elara's mind raced, and she got a bit bolder. She looked up, trying to appear pitiful, and cried, "She asked me to buy a drug for her before. This time she forced me to deliver the embroidery to the new bride of the Perry Family."

Elara was smart, knowing Arthur's power. Lying would probably end badly, so she decided to tell the truth with a bit of embellishment, hoping to get out of this unscathed.

She continued, "There were patterns of swallows and medicinal herbs embroidered on it, just like the ones on the gift box packaging at the Hernandez Mansion. But this time, I didn't help her. I threw the embroidery in the trash outside. If you don't believe me, you can have someone check."

Arthur didn't respond to that but asked, "You saw the gift last time?"

"Yeah, Mr. Hernandez, I saw it when I was treating Elodie that day," Elara explained. "I thought the pattern was beautiful, so I snapped a picture to show her later. I didn't expect to see her embroidering the same pattern this time. Out of curiosity, I asked her about it, and she told me to deliver it to that bride."

"Why didn't you deliver it?" Arthur asked, looking puzzled. "Didn't you say Elodie threatened you? Why didn't you follow her instructions this time?"

"Because I don't want to betray you."

Elara glanced at Arthur, trying to gauge his reaction. Seeing no change in his expression, she felt a bit more at ease.

She continued, "You've been very kind to me, and I'm really grateful. I didn't dare refuse Ms. Sackler to her face, so I secretly chose not to do it. Mr. Hernandez, I would never betray you, no matter what."

Elara added a guarantee, seemingly to show loyalty, but in reality, it was a bait to test him.

Although Arthur was over forty, his regular exercise made him look like he was in his thirties. Even his face exuded the charm of a man in his prime.

Truly wealthy people seemed to have a longer and more enduring youth than ordinary folks. This was all due to their confident demeanor and disciplined lifestyle.

Elara initially only feared Arthur, but after learning about his deep affection for one woman, she couldn't help but feel differently.

She envied Elodie for being loved by Arthur. She felt that Elodie didn't appreciate it. Such an excellent and loving man, yet she wanted to escape. Could there be another man as excellent as Arthur who would love Elodie like this?

Elara's envy and jealousy could only be hidden in her heart, but her little thoughts couldn't be concealed and grew more and more.

Arthur was too attractive, with his demeanor, looks, strength, and ability. Each aspect was outstanding, a rare talent.

In the past few months, frequent visits to the Hernandez Mansion made Elara fantasize. If she could become the lady of this mansion, even if not the mistress, or even just be with Arthur, she would be willing.

The wealthy in Emerald Isle often had many women, but Arthur only had Elodie.

Elara occasionally fantasized that Arthur would fall for her. When a woman was only thinking about love, she became very foolish. Like now, Elara thought she could seduce Arthur.

She never considered that she was pushing herself further into the abyss, to be shattered.

Arthur didn't care much about Elara's loyalty. After all, all his subordinates were like this, none would betray him.

"What did she give you?" Arthur asked.

Elara hesitated, as if making a decision, and slowly took off her coat, revealing her shoulders, the beautiful dress, and the dazzling sapphire necklace around her neck.

"Elodie gave me the sapphire necklace you gave her, and she also said..."

Elara paused, making it seem like the next part was hard to say.

"Go on," Arthur said, his expression indifferent.

"She said that everything you gave her was disgusting, that she wanted to throw it all away. She told me to take it away quickly."

Elara made this up. Elodie wasn't the type to share her true feelings, especially about Arthur. She feared bringing trouble to others.

Elara thought she was smart.

She inferred from Arthur and Elodie's relationship that Elodie hated Arthur, and Arthur knew this too. So, it made sense for these words to come from Elodie.

"Mr. Hernandez, I'll return the necklace to you," Elara said as she began to unclasp the necklace around her neck, intending to give it back to Arthur, but she was very reluctant.

She had only worn it for a short time and hadn't had enough time to admire it. She was unwilling to give it back!

Arthur watched Elara's slow movements and smiled faintly, "If you like it, keep it."

Elara was stunned!

"Mr. Hernandez, you mean it's mine?"

"Yes," Arthur replied.

Elara's lips moved, but she couldn't speak. Her eyes were full of joy; it seemed she had made the right bet.

Arthur must have a bit of a liking for her to give her such an expensive necklace.

Even if he liked Elodie, he might occasionally want a change. Elara might not be as beautiful as Elodie, but she had the advantage of youth!

Thinking this, Elara moved closer to Arthur on her knees.

Then, in a soft and seductive voice, she said, "Mr. Hernandez, I'm willing to do anything."

Arthur seemed to hear something new. Elara was actually trying to seduce him.

He asked in a low voice, "Really willing to do anything?"

"Of course!" Elara glanced at Arthur, hinting, "And I do it very well."

The meaning was clear.

Arthur's eyes changed slightly, seeming a bit excited.

Elara thought Arthur was going to have sex with her right there, and she became excited all over.

If she could be with Arthur, she could achieve her dream of becoming a noblewoman.

Arthur didn't have many women, only Elodie, and Elodie was too naive, not a match for Elara at all.

Elara had already reached out, trying to unbuckle Arthur's belt.

She wore a confident smile, believing it wouldn't be long before she could replace Elodie and become Arthur's only love!

"Mr. Hernandez, I will definitely serve you well," Elara said shyly.

As she worked hard to unbuckle the belt, Arthur's large hand suddenly grabbed hers.

"What I want you to do is not this," Arthur said.

Elara looked up in shock, only to see Arthur's long fingers slowly moving from behind her ear to her neck. His fingers stopped at the sapphire necklace, tapping it.

"Eat it," Arthur said.

"What?" Elara thought she had misheard.

Arthur had already withdrawn his hand, returning to his cold demeanor, but the excitement in his eyes hadn't faded. "If you like this sapphire necklace so much, then swallow it. Wouldn't it be better to make it a part of you?"

Elara couldn't believe Arthur was serious and thought he was joking.

"Mr. Hernandez, don't joke. I can't possibly eat such a expensive necklace."

She thought to herself that swallowing such a large diamond was no different from suicide. She would probably die before it even reached her stomach.

Elara was convinced Arthur was joking and mustered the courage to approach him again, trying to serve him. "Mr. Hernandez, I'm really good at it. You can try."

Elara blushed, her heart racing.

Arthur had a bad-boy charm that was particularly alluring.

But before Elara could get any closer, Arthur suddenly grabbed her jaw.

A slight snapping sound was heard as he forcibly broke the sapphire necklace.

Elara cried out.

Seeing the broken necklace, she felt a deep sense of loss and heartache. It was her favorite necklace. What a pity!

The craftsmanship would be hard to repair, and even if it was fixed, it would never hide the fact that it had been repaired, significantly reducing its value.

"Mr. Hernandez, you..."

Before Elara could say more, Arthur's grip tightened, forcing her mouth open.

Seeing his fierce expression, Elara struggled and made muffled sounds in fear.

Arthur ignored her and lifted his hand. Even though the sapphire necklace was broken, it was still beautiful, shining brilliantly on his finger.

He slowly fed the necklace into Elara's mouth, using his fingers to push it down her throat.

Watching Elara's face turn red, Arthur said slowly, "Do you know what you said wrong?"

Elara made various strange noises.

With a foreign object in her throat, she wanted to vomit, but Arthur's fingers blocked her airway.

She was suffocating.

Arthur said leisurely, "Elodie never lies, and she would never say that about me. If you say she deceived me, then you must be lying!"

With the last word, his fingers pushed the large sapphire into her throat.

The sapphire got stuck in the narrow throat, making it hard for his fingers to move.

Arthur didn't push further but instead grabbed a metal straw from the table, using it to push the sapphire necklace down without expression.

Finally, the straw reached the bottom.

Arthur said harshly, "This necklace is dirty with you wearing it. Now, have it as you want!"

With that, he threw Elara heavily to the ground.

Elara could no longer make any sound, her eyes wide open, dying with a grievance!
