Chapter 322 Cheap and Ridiculous Trash
Robert saw a glimmer of hope and grabbed Molly's wrist again. "Molly, I know you don't believe me, but I really regret it. From the moment you left, I realized I love you more than I hate you."
His eyes were full of pain. His hatred had been a flimsy excuse, and now he knew it.
Molly couldn't take it anymore. Love? How dare he say that? Robert had ruined her reputation, destroyed her family's company, and driven her family to ruin. He'd made her life a living hell, and now he had the nerve to talk about love?
She wanted to ask him where he got the nerve to say such things.
Suppressing her anger, she said calmly, "Mr. Perot, if you want a chance, it's not impossible."
Robert was too excited to speak for a moment.
Then he saw Molly pointing to the entrance of the convention center. "See that spot? The most visible place in the whole center. Go there and kneel until I decide to give you a chance. How about that?"
Robert looked at the landmark sculpture she pointed to. Everyone attending major events had to pass by it. Kneeling there would make headlines. Just thinking about it, he knew the sensation it would cause. Molly's sneer grew more pronounced as she watched his reaction.
"Mr. Perot, look at what cheap and ridiculous trash you are." With that, Molly walked past him in her high heels.
Robert grabbed her wrist again.
His dark eyes locked onto hers. "Are you serious? Will you consider giving me a chance if I kneel there?"
Molly's smile deepened. "Mr. Perot, you have to do it first before I can consider it."
It was clear she was mocking him.
Robert said no more, let go of her wrist, and walked towards the entrance.
Molly didn't even care to see what he would do and turned to leave.
In the elevator, a few girls came in, chatting noisily.
"Is that guy kneeling outside some kind of performance artist? He's so handsome!"
"Doesn't seem like it. I heard from the staff he might be the CEO of the Perot Group."
"CEO? It's my first time seeing such a handsome CEO up close!"
"But is he crazy, kneeling by the sculpture in this heat?"
"Who knows."
The elevator door opened, and their voices faded away.
Molly idly fiddled with her phone, thinking, 'Why isn't it hotter today?'
Upstairs, at the press conference.
Harper went to the dressing room to find Lenora, who was getting ready for the event. She had already gathered all the information about Maurice and Lenora.
Lenora was 18 years younger than Maurice, and it was clear why she married him.
But she did benefit, jumping from a nobody to a third-tier star, which was a big leap!
After Harper knocked, a woman's voice called out, "Come in."
When Harper entered, Lenora saw her in the mirror and immediately got defensive. "Who are you?"
Harper smiled knowingly. "Mrs. Hall, you don't even know who I am, yet you're holding a press conference to expose me?"
Lenora was momentarily stunned before she realized. "You're the one seducing my husband!"
Harper spoke slowly, "Mrs. Hall, you've got it wrong. Your husband framing me is a fact. He's still in jail, don't you know why?"
Lenora was indeed naive. Maurice was in jail, and instead of worrying about him, she listened to bad advice to hold a press conference to expose Harper and seek public support.
She didn't even consider that legal justice isn't swayed by celebrity opinions.
But Harper didn't care if Lenora was foolish. She just wanted the mastermind behind the whole incident to pay.
Since they dared to involve Agnes, Harper wouldn't let them off.
Moreover, Harper would use their own tactics against them. If they liked exposure, she'd make Lenora the super star she wanted to be.
Lenora was actually unsure, but Chloe had told her this was a chance to control public opinion, get Maurice released, and boost her image as a victim. Maybe she could even become a first-tier star.
So, Lenora said confidently, "My husband is a well-known family man. Don't think you can frame him. I think you're just desperate for an opportunity from him. You failed to drug him and suppress the news, and now you dare to come to me and talk nonsense."
Harper looked up, her eyes full of sarcasm.
How did Lenora survive in the cutthroat entertainment industry with that brain?
She kept saying Harper drugged him, but how could Harper be standing here now?
Did Lenora really think the police station was her home, where she could come and go as she pleased?
Harper took out a stack of photos, threw them on the table, and said indifferently, "Mrs. Hall, why don't you take a look at these and reevaluate your husband?"
Lenora looked at the photos, all showing her so-called good husband Maurice being intimate with various young stars.
Her face burned as if she'd been slapped multiple times.
Lenora knew Maurice was promiscuous, but to maintain her status, she turned a blind eye.
Now that it was exposed, she felt humiliated.
In a fit of anger, Lenora said, "Don't think you can deceive me with these doctored photos. I will never believe you. What's your angle?"
Harper got straight to the point. "Ms. Campbell, have you ever thought that the person advising you is not helping you but harming you? Is it possible that after today's press conference, your career will be ruined?"
Hearing "career ruined," Lenora's face changed instantly, glaring angrily. "What do you mean?"
Harper said calmly, "I'm telling you, if you're willing to tell the public who advised you to do this, your humiliation might be lessened."
