Chapter 284: Infuriating Jenny

I picked up the tiny thing and plopped it in my hand, checking it out from every angle. No matter how I looked at it, it seemed cuter and more beautiful than when it was just sitting on the counter. I liked it so much, I was ready to drop $5,000 on it.

Just as I was about to pay, Yancy stepped in.

He got all serious and started haggling with the shopkeeper. After some back-and-forth, he managed to snag it for $700.

I was floored.

If Yancy hadn't been there, I would've just handed over the cash. Now, I saved $4,300.

Yancy not only knew how to make money but also how to save it. I was so stoked, I couldn't stop praising him for being awesome and saving me a ton of cash.

Even Mia gave him a second look.

When the staff handed me the packaged item, they said, kinda regretfully, that they'd never sold it for that price before.

I happily took the package and headed over to the jewelry counter to pick out a bracelet for Isabella.

The jewelry counter was circular. After walking halfway around, I spotted a platinum bracelet with tiny diamonds. It was simple yet elegant.

The bracelet was gorgeous, but I noped out as soon as I saw the $34,000 price tag.

It's not that I couldn't afford it, but it felt unnecessary. Plus, it was a gift for Isabella, and she wouldn't accept it.

"Jane, do you like that bracelet? Why didn't you buy it? Don't you have enough money? It's okay, I'll buy it for you."

It was Jenny.

Why wasn't she doing her rehab in the hospital and instead out shopping?

I hadn't seen Jenny for a few days, and she seemed to have gained a little weight, looking pretty healthy. She was smiling but with a hint of mockery, and her words were still super annoying.

What did she mean by not having enough money? I might not be rolling in dough, but I could still afford $34,000. Did I need her to buy it for me?

It really ticked me off.

My rational mind kept reminding me not to hit her; she was Brad's lifesaver. It took about twenty times of convincing myself before I could calm down.

"Didn't expect to run into you here, what a coincidence." I picked up the bracelet, took one more look at it, and handed it to the staff, signaling them to put it away. "The bracelet is indeed quite beautiful, but I've heard that things like bracelets are best given by someone you love. So, I'm afraid I have to decline your kind offer, Jenny. You won't be mad at me, right?"

Jenny's eyes flickered, and she paused for a moment in surprise, but she smiled good-naturedly. "Of course not."

"By the way, Jenny, look, this bracelet was given by Brad when we were at the Northern Institute of the Arts. Because it was given by someone I love, I treasure it very much and have never taken it off in all these years. So, no matter how good other bracelets are, I won't wear them."

Jenny tucked her hair behind her ear and glanced at the bracelet on my wrist a few times. With her gentle demeanor unchanged, she said, "That's true, but it's not easy to find a bracelet you like. Why not just buy it? We girls should rely on ourselves. Always depending on our boyfriends isn't good. If you're not financially independent, it will affect your status in the family even after you get married."

I gritted my teeth.

Jenny was implying that I was spending Brad's money and couldn't afford it myself.

But no matter how angry I was, I couldn't fall for it.

I looked at the bracelet again, somewhat reluctantly, and said, "That do make sense." I took out my phone to snap a photo, and sent it to Brad. "Such a meaningful piece of jewelry, I'll let Brad buy it for me."

I was just putting on a show. As Brad was so busy, he couldn't possibly be staring at his phone waiting to reply to my message.

Unexpectedly, he replied with a ten-second voice message right after I sent it.

Jenny looked up, her expression displeased , clearly wanting to know how Brad had replied to me.

Feeling competitive, I couldn't help but turn the volume to the maximum and played the voice message.

In the midst of four expectant gazes, Brad's deep, slightly hoarse voice resonated, "Do you like it, baby? Send me the store's location, and I'll buy it for you."

He said it perfectly, matching my earlier statement that "such things are best given by someone you love."

As expected of my boyfriend, Brad.

Both Jenny and I had a change in our expressions.

My face was blushed with the shyness of being publicly shown affection, along with an uncontrollable sense of pride and show-off.

Jenny, on the other hand, was trying to hide her jealousy after hearing her beloved express affection for another girl.

"It's not that I like it that much, it just looks nice. But Jenny also said it was good and even offered to buy it for me."

"No way! If you dare accept a gift from someone else, you're dead." Brad's voice was low, gritting his teeth in a threat.

Jenny probably didn't expect me to mention her to Brad. She sat there awkwardly, her mouth half-open, unable to say a word.

Mia gave an approving smile, while Yancy disdainfully glanced at Jenny, enjoying her embarrassment.

"Got it, got it, I was just saying. How could I accept it? But Jenny had a good intention." I said coquettishly, my voice so sweet it even made me cringe.

"It's getting late, go find a place to have lunch. I'm busy here, but I'll make time in the afternoon to buy the bracelet for you. That's it for now."
