Chapter 510 Misunderstood

Jane burst out laughing.

Ryan's face twisted into a scowl, but before he could say anything, Grace jumped in, "Who are you talking about?"

"Whoever responds, that's who I'm talking about," I shot back.

"So, how does it feel to be the third wheel? Is it just peachy, perfectly suited to your temperament?" I crossed my arms and glared at Grace.

Sure enough, Grace, fuming with anger and humiliation, rushed toward me. "I'm not! Ryan and I grew up together. He loves me, and I love him. We're truly in love."

I scratched my ear and flicked my fingernail dismissively. "Yeah, you're the most devoted. You bailed because you thought Ryan was a loser. Now that you've heard he's loaded, you're back to seduce him. How sincere of you."

Grace shouted, "No, I'm not! You're lying." "Ryan, I went abroad for treatment. I didn't want you to worry, so I left quietly," she said, her eyes reddening and tears streaming down.

Ryan said, "Amelia, how did you become like this, nitpicking every word? Even if you can't let go of me, you shouldn't attack Grace like this. There's nothing between us. Why can't you trust me? Grace isn't that kind of person. Even if she loves me, she hasn't done anything inappropriate."

Jane and I exchanged a shocked glance, reading disbelief in each other's eyes.

We had seen shameless people before, but we had never encountered anyone this shameless.

If we had stayed a second longer, they would have kissed, yet here they were, shamelessly claiming nothing was going on.

Not satisfied with just saying that, Ryan pulled Grace closer and started to say something else. However, I grabbed Jane and quickly ran around them.

Sitting in the restaurant, Jane kept looking at me with concern.

Her gaze made me lose my appetite, so I looked up, waiting for her to speak.

Jane remarked, "Amelia, are you really okay? If you're hurting, just cry it out. Don't hold it in; it's bad for your health. Five years of feelings aren't so easily forgotten."

I put down my fork helplessly and raised my hand to swear seriously, "Jane, I swear, I have no feelings for Ryan anymore. But, there's always some regret. He was someone I truly liked, and seeing him transform into someone I no longer recognize today fills me with regret—so much regret."

Jane responded, "Indeed, I met him a few times before. Although he was always cold, he seemed like a promising young man. How did he turn into such a jerk this time? Time can really change a person, but I didn't expect him to change so completely."

I thought that was a rare encounter with Ryan. After all, Regalia was so vast, filled with so many people, that it was difficult to encounter those one wanted to see, let alone accidentally run into strangers.

But that night, while waiting for Jane in front of National Capital University, I ran into Ryan again.

This time, he was alone, wearing a dark brown suit and a white shirt. He had no tie, and his collar was open, revealing a hint of his collarbone.

The moment I saw him, I suddenly remembered the first day I met him.

He was also wearing a white shirt. Except for a few more fine lines at the corners of his eyes, he looked exactly the same as the day I first met him.His eyes and brows were still as striking as ever, and he still had that cool, detached vibe.

Back then, I was so moved that I almost ruined my life.

Today, seeing him again, his eyes and brows were still the same, but all I wanted was to get as far away from him as possible.

I wasn't sure if he noticed me, but I had no desire to confront him, so I quickly turned away and pretended I didn't see him.

But he had already spotted me. He calmly walked around to stand in front of me, backlit.

In front of me, he was always this confident.

Maybe because Grace wasn't around, he wasn't as sharp as the last time we met. He said, "Amelia, what are you doing here?"

I replied, "None of your business."

I didn't want to talk to Ryan, so I slipped onto the campus, following Jane's description of the location.

Ryan followed closely behind me. Not wanting to engage with him, I quickened my pace.

I called Jane midway, and she shared her location with me. When I found her, she walked out of Crystal House with a smile, stood on the path, and waved at me.

Jane and I were holding hands, chatting about where to grab a bite, when a young figure stepped out from the door of Crystal House.

It was a slender and tall silhouette with short hair, emanating a sense of defiance.

Since the spot he emerged from was brightly lit, I found myself unconsciously stealing a glance at him.

That brief encounter left me momentarily stunned, and I couldn't help but look back.

The road we came from was clean, with only the shadows of trees swaying.

As I got closer, I saw more clearly. His well-groomed eyebrows raised slightly when he noticed me, then his thick brows knitted together, and a hint of surprise flashed in his eyes.

He gave me a strange vibe.

It was as if we had met somewhere before, and after a long separation, we suddenly reunited in another place without any warning, with that kind of surprise and disbelief.

However, this was just the feeling he gave me. I could be sure that I had never met him before.

I didn't know him.

Jane pulled me to leave, but Ryan suddenly appeared, blocking my way. He said, "Amelia, I want to talk to you."

I dodged his outstretched hand and said indifferently, "I don't want to talk to you."

Ryan said, "Don't be like this, Amelia. There are deep misunderstandings between us. Whether or not we can be together in the future, I want you to be well and not misunderstand me."

His voice lowered, his eyes slightly downcast, and the fringe of his hair fell over his forehead, making him look a bit desolate.

Desolate? I couldn't help but chuckle.

The Ryan I knew was always arrogant and aloof.

How could someone like Ryan be desolate?

Moreover, Ryan had dumped boring me and had the truly loving Grace by his side. How could he possibly be desolate?

I must have been mistaken.

I remarked, "It doesn't matter if there's a misunderstanding or not. I've said everything I needed to say. I don't want to talk to you, and I have nothing to say to you. Ryan, if you really want me to be well, then please don't bother me anymore. If you do that, I will be eternally grateful."
