Chapter 394 Moving

But if I couldn't call or use Facebook, I could just post an update. Maybe Brad would see it.

As long as I was happy, Brad wouldn't have to worry about me and could focus on dealing with Jenny.

After class, I headed over to Crystal House to pack up my art supplies. The project I was working on was finally done, and it was a big deal for my career.

Next up, I needed to get started on my thesis. The topic about pigments wasn't as simple as it seemed, and it was time to dive in. If I wanted to do it right, I was going to be super busy.

Just as I got there, Adam showed up. His timing was almost too perfect like he had been following me or something.

Adam was supposed to be in class right now, so what was he doing here? We had spent enough time painting together that I pretty much knew his schedule by heart.

"Skipping class?" I asked, raising an eyebrow.

Adam looked like he wanted to punch me. "Yeah, I'm crazy, skipping class for fun."

I ignored him and kept packing.

There was a lot to pack, and it was taking forever. The cafeteria would open in forty minutes, and if I went late, all the good food would be gone. I didn't have time for Adam's attitude, so I just sped up.

Adam said, "Professor Evans had something come up, so the class was rescheduled."

I shrugged. Whether it was true or not, I wasn't going to check. Adam was an adult; he didn't need me to babysit him.

Adam pulled out some organizing bags from the paper bag he was carrying. "These will make it easier to carry the small stuff."

He started sorting my things into the bags. Watching him work so diligently, it seemed like he had come specifically to help me move.

Was Adam really this free? And how did he know I was moving today? Did he plant some listening device on me?

The thought freaked me out. I patted my pockets but found nothing, which made me feel a bit better.

"Did you come specifically to help me move? How did you know I was moving today?" I asked, still uneasy.

Adam snapped, "Can you stop with the questions? What's so secretive about moving? I'm here to help, not rob you. Do you have to make such a big deal out of it?"

Why was Adam so irritable? If he didn't want to help, he didn't have to. I didn't expect him to help, nor did I force him. Why was he acting so unwilling and provoking me? Did he think I was easy to bully? Or did he think I couldn't move my stuff without him?

I said, "You didn't manage to blow up the airport, so you ate the TNT yourself?"

Adam paused, then got what I meant. His expression softened, and his tone became much gentler. "I'm a normal person who eats normal human food. TNT isn't good for my stomach."

I asked, "Then why are you here? I didn't provoke you. Why are you mad at me?"

Adam seemed on the verge of losing it. "Forget it, you wouldn't understand even if I told you. I came specifically to help you move. Once we're done, I'll take you back."

After two trips, we had moved everything back home, and it was already past noon.

Adam offered to buy me lunch, but I remembered Brad's advice and turned him down. I quickly ran to the cafeteria, hoping there would still be some of my favorite food left.

Luckily, I got the last serving of my favorite dish. As I took a bite, I closed my eyes in satisfaction and took a deep breath.

I came to love this somewhat pungent delicacy, and it was all because of Brad.

When I first arrived at the Northern Institute of the Arts, Brad took me to try this dish. I found it a bit spicy but pretty tasty.

At that time, Brad smiled and said, "Exactly. This is an extraordinarily fascinating vegetable. At first, you might be put off by its peculiar taste and compare it to other vegetables you've tried, finding reasons to dislike it. But when you approach it with an open mind and slowly get used to it, you'll find that after the initial discomfort, it offers an unexpected and delightful flavor that you'll come to love."
