Chapter 376 Showing Off
Other people's girlfriends were usually the considerate ones, but in our case, it was Brad who was always understanding. No matter what, he always knew what was on my mind and found a way to comfort me and put me at ease.
I pressed my phone to my chest, feeling all warm and fuzzy.
This was my boyfriend, Brad, the one I wanted to spend my life with.
Brad got me, even from just a single post.
He loved me and understood me so well. With him in my life, I had no regrets.
Jane: [Brad, I love you too. Work hard and come back soon.]
After sending that message, I felt so much lighter, and the bit of unhappiness from last night just vanished. That was the magic of Brad.
I didn't expect that confessing my love to the one I adore would feel so great. Maybe I should say sweet things more often to keep Brad happy every day.
I was scrolling through my News Feed and noticed that several people had liked my post from last night. The first one was Daniel, who I hadn't seen or thought of in a while, the second was Louis; and Adam left a jealous comment: [What are you showing off for, so pretentious.]
Pretentious?
Nah, it was normal for every girl in love to show off a bit, right? And my intention wasn't to show off but to counter Jenny and defend my territory.
Adam didn't have a girlfriend; he simply wouldn't understand.
At 7:30 in the morning, the delivery guy called right on time, asking me to come downstairs to get my breakfast.
When I hadn't moved out, Brad would bring me breakfast every morning, taking such good care of me that I gained a few pounds.
After I moved out to live alone, Brad would cook breakfast for a while, but later this responsibility fell on Yancy. Whenever Brad was busy or on a business trip, he would always find a way to order breakfast for me. That was why I always had breakfast on time.
I opened the breakfast I picked up and found my favorite sandwich, a small serving of strawberry cake, and a can of solid yogurt, probably for a morning snack.
The breakfast was delicious. To create the feeling that Brad was with me, I decided to look at his photo while eating.
I found a handsome photo of Brad that I had secretly taken on my phone. It was from a day when he had just finished showering, with water droplets glistening on his tanned skin, his well-defined chest muscles, and a glimpse of his eight-pack abs.
I admired the handsome photo with my eyes while savoring the delicious food, feeling very content.
Brad treated me so well, even when he was away, he still made sure my life was well-arranged.
In the morning, I had a public class. Professor Evans suddenly scheduled me to teach our department's students in the afternoon. So, I decided not to return to my apartment at noon and went straight to Crystal House to paint after filling my stomach in the cafeteria.
With Brad on a business trip, his freshman courses fell on me. Fortunately, there weren't many classes, or I wouldn't have enough time.
Professor Evans had been paying a lot of attention to my project lately, so I had to speed up. Besides, I wanted to join Jenny's project team, and I couldn't do that without finishing my current project.
So, while Brad was on his business trip, I planed to use the busy days to pass the lonely time without my boyfriend, making money and waiting for him at the same time.
In the evening, I was eating and chatting with Amelia.
She seemed pretty normal, laughing out loud a few times. But to me, it felt forced because I had seen her genuinely happy and carefree before.
Amelia was hurt. Ryan's situation had really gotten to her.
I remembered Amelia mentioning she had saved up a lot of vacation days, so I invited her to come to Regalia. First, I was bored at home alone, and she could keep me company; second, a change of scenery might cheer her up.
I had invited Amelia many times before, but she always refused, saying she didn't want to disturb Brad and me. That was just an excuse because she couldn't bear to leave Ryan.
This time, I didn't have high hopes; I just mentioned it casually. To my surprise, she agreed and quickly booked a flight for the day after tomorrow. She even playfully said that since I invited her, I had to take care of her food and lodging.
Even though I didn't have a lot of money now, arranging my friend's food and lodging was no problem at all, so I agreed immediately.
I really wanted my old friends to come to Regalia for a few days. But we had grown up, either studying or working, and it was hard to find time to gather. Even when we did, something always came up, so it never happened.
Amelia's visit made me genuinely happy.
However, since Amelia would be staying with me, I couldn't continue living in my apartment and had to go back home. The house was big enough, with plenty of rooms, so having Amelia stay wouldn't be a problem. With Brad away, I'd have some company and wouldn't feel too lonely.
I also had an idea; if Amelia agreed, I would try to keep her here. Regalia offered more opportunities and provided a better environment compared to her city.
I thought, 'If Amelia's boyfriend isn't reliable, she has to rely on herself and work hard to live the life she wants! Amelia is excellent; she deserves better.'
When I video-called Brad, I told him about Amelia coming over. Brad's reaction was strange; it was a mix of resentment, displeasure, and helplessness.
Despite this, he sighed and gave in under my pitiful gaze. "Alright, since she's your friend, I'll accept it even if I'm not happy. But I wonder when we'll ever have a true two-person world. I can't wait."
"Amelia is very independent. Once she finds a suitable job, she won't stay even if we want her to. So, for now, Brad, you'll have to bear with it." I pouted and acted cute.
Brad said, "Everyone else is wary of their girlfriends, but you keep bringing them around me. One isn't enough; now there's another. Do you trust your girlfriends that much? Not all good intentions are rewarded, you know."
"Honey, I trust you." I looked at Brad seriously and then gave him a sweet smile.
Brad didn't expect the sudden confession and blinked a few times. His slightly awkward look made me laugh.
Amelia would stay with me initially, but once she settled down, she would find her own place.
Moreover, guarding against best girlfriends was something that was impossible to defend against completely once it was out in the open. If my boyfriend and girlfriend betrayed me, it just meant they weren't worth it. Discovering it early and cutting losses was a good thing.
