Chapter 321 Message from Jenny
Brad just stood there, letting me wail on him, not even trying to dodge.
He grinned and slurred, "I'm so wasted, babe. My body's all over the place, but my head's clear. C'mon, be a good girl. Stay still and let me kiss you right."
He was totally doing it on purpose!
"Alright, I get it. You did this on purpose. From now on, Brad, you can't touch me for five days. If you do, you're getting kicked out of bed," I spat out, teeth clenched.
I shoved him away, trying to get out of bed and ignore him.
But as soon as I slipped on one shoe, Brad grabbed me from behind, wrapping his arms around my waist, refusing to let go. He kept saying he was really drunk, his limbs were out of control, and he loved how I gave my all for him. He begged me to take back the punishment, or I wouldn't be able to get out of bed.
I was still fuming and wouldn't back down; Brad wouldn't let me off the bed. Neither of us was giving in.
Then there were two polite knocks on the bedroom door, and Yancy's voice came through. "Mr. Pitt, you got some new messages on your phone. Might be something important from school. Want me to bring it in?"
Brad's grip loosened for a second, and I took the chance to bite his wrist. He yelped in pain, and I made my escape to the door, grinning like a cat who got the cream.
Brad sulked off to the bathroom, and I grabbed my clothes and bolted to Mia's room to freshen up.
When I came out, Mia and Yancy were already in the kitchen, whipping up breakfast; Brad was still MIA.
His phone was just lying there on the sofa, and remembering he had messages, I picked it up and checked. If it was school stuff, I could use it to drag him out of the bedroom.
There were five Facebook messages, none from the school, all from Jenny.
Jenny: [Brad, it's my birthday tonight. Can you spend it with me?]
Jenny: [My parents are far away, and you're the only one I have. I just want you to spend my birthday with me. I won't do anything to make you uncomfortable.]
Jenny: [All these years, you've always been my dream. And you'll still be my sun in the future. I don't long to possess you; I just want to be illuminated by your light.]
Jenny: [Brad, saving you was just following my heart. I never expected to get anything in return. If I had to do it all over again, I would make the same choice. Brad, whether it's loving you or saving you, I did it willingly. Don't feel burdened.]
Jenny: [Promise me, Brad, please.]
Jenny's words were all heartfelt and humble.
Yeah, the one who falls in love first is always the one who ends up humble. But that's no excuse to mess with someone else's relationship. Love's a two-person deal, after all.
I used to be that humble, just wanting Daniel to notice me and share his life with me. But not all humility leads to a happy ending, and not all of it is worth it. Daniel was the waste of my eighteen years of youth.
But what about Brad? He was the kind of guy most girls would go crazy for. Was he worth Jenny's effort? Jenny made herself sound so pitiful that any guy would feel sorry for her. Would Brad feel sorry for her?
My good mood took a nosedive because of those messages.
Honestly, if Jenny just liked Brad silently, as a fellow girl, I could understand her and maybe even feel sorry for her.
But all that talk about not wanting anything in return? Total smokescreen. She said she just wanted to spend a birthday, nothing else; and I didn't buy it. But she sounded so pitiful. What would Brad do?
Just thinking about another woman obsessing over my boyfriend made me uncomfortable.
But this was Brad's issue, and the decision had to be his.
In principle, I didn't want them to be alone together, but if that was Brad's choice, I'd respect it. I trusted Brad more than I trusted myself. I firmly believed he wouldn't want to see me upset.
Mia noticed my mood shift and dashed out of the kitchen.
When she saw the messages in my hand, she was instantly pissed. "Fuck, is she saying if Brad doesn't go, he's ungrateful?"
Then Mia hugged me and patted my head to comfort me, "Don't worry, Jane, she won't succeed. Trust Brad."
Seeing something was up, Yancy also came over from the kitchen. After reading the messages, he shook his head, looking particularly regretful. "The illegitimate daughter's tactics won't work."
"Illegitimate daughter?" Mia and I were both puzzled.
Yancy clearly knew about Jenny's background in detail.
Yancy said, "I had someone look into it. Jenny's mother and the oldest son of the Taylor family were classmates. They had Jenny before they graduated from college. Jenny's mother thought she could live a wealthy life by having a daughter. The head of the Taylor family despised Jenny's mother's background. After hearing about Jenny and her mother, they quickly arranged a marriage for Jenny's father with a socialite within a month. Jenny's mother even took Jenny to the Taylor family to argue but was kicked out. I heard that this incident caused quite a stir in the Taylor family at the time. Jenny's grandmother was furious and wanted to take action against Jenny and her mother. It was Jenny's father who pleaded with the Taylor family to forgive them. However, Jenny's grandmother also made it clear that though she didn't care if Jenny wanted to take the Taylor surname, Jenny was not allowed to enter the Taylor family."
