Chapter 483 Pregnancy

Hunter didn't take me seriously at all, didn't get what I was saying. He just shook his head and said, "Benjamin treats Mia well too. It's a shame; you two were great together. I was really jealous. Never thought such a loving couple wouldn't make it. It's a real bummer."

After he said that, he leaned back and let out a long sigh, like it was the biggest regret ever.

If he wasn't a few years older than me and if we were somewhere else, I would've wanted to kick him a few times.

I grabbed an orange nearby, didn't even peel it, and shoved it right into Hunter's mouth, making him roll his eyes. At least it shut him up for a bit.

After dealing with Hunter, I looked at Mia and saw her covering her mouth, laughing.

I suddenly realized my reaction was unnecessary. Mia wasn't the same girl who was lost in hopeless love. Benjamin didn't mean anything to her anymore.

I chugged a whole bottle of mineral water, and my stomach felt uncomfortably full, so I grabbed Mia and headed to the restroom.

As soon as we left the private room, we saw someone walking slowly against the light at the end of the corridor, with steady steps and a tall figure.

Reunions always happen when you least expect them.

Benjamin walked against the light, even in the winter when everyone was bundled up, he looked alarmingly thin. His familiar features made him look just like he did back then.

The restroom was in the direction he was coming from. I glanced at Mia and couldn't help but curse our bad timing.

But Mia casually tightened her grip on my hand and kept walking forward, her gaze steady and her expression calm.

We stopped three feet away from Benjamin.

"Mia." Benjamin's voice was raspy.

After a moment of surprise, Mia smiled and said, "It's been a while."

Benjamin forced a smile and said flatly, "Yeah."

Mia remarked, "You should go in; everyone is almost here. Jane and I have something to do and need to step out for a bit. See you later."

She smiled faintly, and Benjamin pressed his lips tightly together as they brushed past each other.

The past five years had been a period of growth for Mia, but for Benjamin, it was an eternal regret he couldn't shake off.

When we got back, everyone was already seated.

The large round table that could seat twenty people was full, with only three empty seats left, two next to Brad and one directly across from me.

Mia and I sat down, leaving only the seat across from me, which seemed a bit obvious. Was that seat for Jenny? I suddenly remembered the mysterious message and couldn't help but stare at the seat, lost in thought.

"You don't look so good. Feeling sick? Want to head back?" Brad noticed something was off and whispered in my ear.

"I'm fine. Whose seat is that?" My eyes were still glued to the empty chair.

Brad glanced over and said, "Benjamin mentioned it might be Jenny's."

Before Brad could finish, Jenny walked in and announced loudly, "Sorry I'm late, everyone. To make up for it, I'll treat you all to karaoke after dinner."

She spoke like she was everyone's best friend, and it seemed like she was the center of attention.

Jenny really showed up!

With Brad and me here, there's no way she didn't know. She had to be putting on this act for a reason, and it was really gross.

This whole show was definitely for us.

I instinctively looked towards the door, and everyone else turned their attention to Jenny too.

I was shocked when I saw her.

In just over six months, she had changed so much.

Jenny walked in with a big, round belly, her skin pale and lifeless, leaning on Michael for support. She had one hand on her waist, looking a bit exhausted. Yet her smile was overly bright, a fake show of happiness, completely ignoring the curious glances from everyone around her.

Not just me, but Mia too, stared at her overly large belly in disbelief.

Jenny was pregnant?

Whose baby was Jenny carrying? Michael's?

I was curious, but it was her private life, and I didn't really want to dig into it.

Jenny had recently posted false statements on the Northern Institute of the Arts alumni network, slandering Brad and me. The situation had flipped, not only debunking her victim act but also exposing her so-called life-saving grace as a sham. She had earned herself the labels of shameless and malicious.

Today, Jenny had the nerve to show up at the gathering like nothing had happened, which was certainly a bold move.

The people here were invited by Hunter, who knew Brad and the others well. He must have known about Jenny's actions. Most people were indifferent to her arrival, while Hunter and Benjamin were clearly disdainful, their contemptuous looks revealing their attitude towards her.

I just didn't get how Jenny dared to come and what she was here for.

At that moment, two guys and a girl who seemed close to Jenny enthusiastically waved her over. "Jenny, come over here. We saved a seat for you. How many months pregnant are you? Almost due, right? Why didn't you tell us about your wedding? Were you afraid we'd crash it?"
