Chapter 437 Sneaky Smile
"Alright," Elliot mumbled through a mouthful of crispy pork, "I'll go grab some desserts. They give a quick energy boost. Want some chocolate to tide you over?"
"I'd rather have a lollipop. That way, I can work and snack without any interruptions."
We were chatting when someone plopped down next to me without asking.
Startled, I looked up to see Jenny glaring at me. Elliot's amused smirk made it clear he was enjoying the scene.
Jenny kept glaring, her eyes full of hatred.
Since she wasn't saying anything, I decided to stay quiet too. I focused on my meal, ignoring her.
"Excuse me, sir, could you move? I need to talk to Jane," Jenny finally spoke up.
Elliot didn't even glance up. He took a sip of his soup, swallowed, and kept eating. "Talk about what? I'm here to eat, not give up my seat. I paid for this food, and I'm not wasting it. Besides, if I don't eat enough, I'll get hungry. Who's responsible if I get sick from hunger? You? You came later, so why should I move? Just say what you need to say, and when you get to the part I can't hear, I'll cover my ears. See how cooperative I am? Pretty impressive, right?"
Jenny's face twisted even more.
Elliot's point was clear: he wasn't leaving. She could talk or leave.
I looked at Elliot with admiration, silently cheering him on.
Seeing Jenny's disgusted expression made me laugh out loud. Her face got even worse.
Jenny was the one making unreasonable demands first, so it made sense that Elliot didn't want to cooperate.
"If you have something to say, say it quickly. Otherwise, Jane will finish and leave, and you won't catch up with her. I won't hear what you're saying, so just talk. Even if I do hear something, I won't remember it. I'll pretend you never said anything. Rest assured."
Jenny stopped glaring at me and turned her gaze to Elliot.
Could Jenny be interested in Elliot?
If she was, that would be bad. Elliot was a good guy and didn't owe Jenny anything, so he shouldn't get involved with her.
"Hey handsome, what's your name? You look familiar."
I was stunned.
Wasn't Jenny here to cause me trouble? Why was she now trying to flirt with Elliot?
Elliot took another sip of soup and then said very seriously, "You don't need to know."
Jenny was left speechless, and I couldn't help but laugh out loud.
I didn't mean to be rude, but it was just too funny.
Seeing that Elliot wasn't cooperating, Jenny turned her anger towards me.
"Jane, I can't believe someone like you would hide things from Brad and get involved with other men. It's truly shameless."
Seriously, did she not know who the shameless one was?
"Don't talk about yourself like that, I'll take it seriously. It wouldn't be good if it got out."
"I didn't mean me, I meant you. It's you!"
"What did I do? Go ahead, tell me. What shameless thing have I done? Did I knowingly pursue someone who already had a girlfriend? Did I become someone else's mistress and then pretend to be righteous? Please, give examples, or I won't accept it."
Hearing my words, Elliot buried his face in his bowl, laughing.
Jenny's hand on the table trembled with anger, "The things you did, I can't even bring myself to talk about them."
"Don't be shy, just say it. If you can't say it, sing it. Want me to drop a beat for you?"
Elliot almost choked on his soup, and I had to reach across the table to pat his back.
"Jane, you're crazy, absolutely unreasonable."
"Is it such a big deal if I'm crazy? Or do you want to make me normal? Forget it, you probably can't. Otherwise, you would have kicked your own habit of stealing other people's boyfriends by now."
Elliot finally stopped coughing, and we exchanged a quick glance.
"Finished?"
"Yes, let's go."
Elliot and I simultaneously put down our forks, stood up, and walked away without hesitation.
Honestly, it was a little mischievous of me to put down my fork and run. I knew Jenny had trouble with her legs, so I deliberately ran fast to watch her struggle and embarrass herself in public.
Jenny probably didn't expect me to leave so suddenly. She was stunned for a couple of seconds before snapping back to reality and, disregarding any manners, shouted angrily, "Stop her, don't let her leave."
Michael suddenly appeared and started chasing after me with big strides.
