Chapter 355 Dashing

"Nothing happened. Mia, get outta my room right now." I pointed at the door, hoping she'd vanish and let me chill.

"Nope." Mia ignored me, pushed my hand down, and asked, "How could nothing have happened? One's a thirty-year-old virgin, and the other's a sweet and sexy lady. How is it that nothing happened between you?"

I felt like crying. Why was it so hard to get some decent sleep? It seemed like unless I cleared things up, Mia wouldn't let me rest. Fine, I'd explain; I just wanted to crash sooner.

"Professor Evans called and said there was an urgent meeting, so Brad left," I said, feeling defeated.

I thought, 'Now that I've explained, she should leave, right?'

"That's it?" Mia's eyes widened, looking me over like she couldn't believe it.

"That's it!" I snapped. Why did she have so many questions?

Mia shrugged, "Alright, it's your business. I'm so tired; I'm going back to sleep."

Mia successfully ruined my sleepiness, and now she was going back to bed. Watching her leave my room in her slippers, I was fuming. I really wanted to pin her down and spank her.

I lay in bed, waiting for Brad to come back, lingering until nearly midnight, yet he still hadn't returned. What kind of meeting could drag on for more than two hours? What was so urgent that it couldn't wait until tomorrow?

Annoyed, I posted on Facebook, asking Brad how much longer he'd be.

Less than a minute after I sent the message, Brad replied with a fresh photo; Professor Evans was gesturing wildly with three fingers, holding a pen, and talking non-stop.

I felt dejected. Professor Evans looked so pumped; it was clearly a big deal. Judging by his excitement, it would be a miracle if the meeting ended by dawn.

I said, "I'm going to sleep now, bye."

Brad quickly sent another picture; this time, it was a little teddy bear pulling a blanket over itself, its eyes squinting into thin slits.

Even the teddy bear was sleepy, and I was too.

I didn't know how long I'd slept when I felt a chill beside me, a cold wind blowing into the bed. Then I sensed a cold body hugging me.

"What time is it? The meeting lasted so long," I turned over and said, snuggling closer. Brad had a hard chest, smooth skin, and well-defined abs. It felt good and was soothing.

"The school might take on a big project, but the details aren't finalized yet. It's almost two o'clock; go back to sleep." Brad lovingly kissed my cheek and gently patted my back, soothing me like a baby.

I was obedient; he told me to sleep, so I did. I slept soundly until morning.

The next morning started off like any other, but it quickly turned into something else entirely. The news was so good, I almost passed out.

At seven in the morning, I had just finished breakfast and was about to head to school with Brad. Mia was in the kitchen washing dishes with Yancy.

Then, Professor Evans called. He called my number.

Lately, anything related to Professor Evans gave me a headache. This morning's call not only gave me a headache but also had the potential to ruin my good mood.

Seeing his number on the screen, I wondered what he wanted after dragging Brad to a late-night meeting and now calling me early in the morning.

Brad gave me an encouraging look to answer, but I shook my head vigorously, showing my resistance. So, I flipped the phone face down on the couch.

Brad said, "Don't be like that. Avoiding it won't solve anything. Just answer it, agree to reasonable requests, and negotiate the unreasonable ones, okay?"

I thought, 'What kind of logic is that? Reasonable requests should be agreed to, and unreasonable ones should be rejected, right? Why should I negotiate it?'

Brad rubbed the back of my neck like soothing a ruffled kitten. "We need to respect our teacher."

He had a point, so I answered.

"Good morning, Professor Evans," I greeted.

"Good, good. Hurry up, come to my office right away," Evans said.

I felt like crying.

"Professor Evans, I just got up. Is it urgent? Can you wait a bit?" I struggled to ask.

"No, immediately, right now, you only have twenty minutes." With that, Professor Evans hung up decisively.

I dashed downstairs amidst Brad's laughter.

Seventeen minutes later, I arrived at Professor Evans' office door.

I reverently pushed open the office door. Despite running around all day yesterday and having a late-night meeting, Professor Evans still looked very spirited, sitting happily at his desk.

"You're here, come in, Jane, Mr. Pitt. I have good news and bad news. Which one do you want to hear first?"

"The good news, please. I'll hear the good news first," I said.

Evans said, "The good news is, Jane, the FutureVision project you've been overseeing has successfully launched its model house, garnering immense social acclaim. In just one day, the sales figures have been astonishing. This not only invigorated the sluggish real estate market but also set an exemplary course for the diversified future of the industry. Jane, what did I say? Hard work always pays off. You have proven my words true with your talent and dedication, and you have also proved yourself. Congratulations!”

This was indeed fantastic news.
