Chapter 383 The Battlefield

Didn't Adam already cut ties with me? What was he trying to pull now? I had Amelia; did I really need his help?

The three of us were in a standoff—one wanting to help, two refusing. As we shoved and jostled to lock the door, a dark figure emerged from the bushes and grabbed Amelia. "Amelia, don't be unreasonable. I've already agreed to reconsider the wedding. What more do you want? She's been my childhood friend for over twenty years. Shouldn't I look out for her when she's alone here? When did you become so petty and irrational? I'm telling you, this is the last time I'm coming for you. If you still refuse to come back with me, don't blame me."

Amelia's hand in mine went icy cold. She suddenly tightened her grip, her sharp nails digging painfully into my skin. I could feel her rage.

Amelia might have looked indifferent, but deep down, she still cared. After all, he was someone she had loved for so many years. How could she just let go suddenly? No normal person could do that.

I looked at Amelia's face, which appeared especially pale under the moonlight. I felt both heartache and anger.

Even now, Ryan didn't know where he went wrong. He still wanted to blame Amelia for the serious consequences of his own mistakes. What right did he have to question her?

"Ryan, don't you know what a scumbag you are? Is Amelia the one being irrational, or is it you who blatantly betrayed her? Don't you have any idea? You've done all the disgusting things and now you're playing the victim, making it seem like Amelia wronged you. How shameless can you be? Get lost. Amelia won't go back with you. Besides, thank you for not marrying her. Amelia deserves better, not a scumbag like you." I patted my chest, feeling much better after cursing him out.

Ryan probably didn't expect me to curse him so bluntly; Amelia remained completely indifferent, not defending him as she used to. Ryan's expression changed instantly, like a wolf about to attack, full of murderous intent, with no trace of old feelings. All these years, Ryan's gentle and refined demeanor was just an act. He's essentially a heartless person.

Ryan shouted, "Jane, don't talk nonsense. What did I do? Do you have evidence? You're slandering me, which is illegal. Be careful, or I'll sue you."

In a fit of anger, I pulled out my phone and found the video and photos I took of him kissing another woman on the street. I shoved them in his face. "Fine, here's your evidence. It's clear!"

Ryan's face turned ugly as he saw himself passionately kissing another woman in the video. His expression twisted with shock and fury, mingled with the shame of being publicly exposed, yet devoid of any remorse. "Jane, how dare you follow me? You're ruining my relationship with Amelia. How vicious can you be!"

I was speechless.

I thought, 'Ryan is not only heartless but also lacks a conscience. He doesn't deserve anyone's genuine affection.'

His betrayal of Amelia happened before their wedding. Fortunately, Amelia could cut her losses in time. It wasn't too bad.

Adam also came over to take a look. When he saw who the two people in the video were, he punched Ryan hard in the face.

Ryan's attention was entirely fixed on the video, intent on snatching my phone, oblivious to Adam's move coming. Adam's blow landed squarely, the intense pain jolting Ryan into sudden clarity. Instinctively, Ryan reached out to cover the struck area, spitting out a mouthful of dark blood.

"Who dares to hit me? Are you looking for trouble?" Ryan wiped the blood from his lips with his thumb and roared in fury.

Adam sneered and threw another punch, hitting the other side of Ryan's face. "I hit you. So what? Here's another punch. Now it's symmetrical."

The two quickly started fighting, cursing each other. In just one round, Adam clearly had the upper hand.

I watched as Ryan, that scoundrel, was beaten to a pulp. His face became a chaotic mess; his hands flailed about aimlessly, and I could hardly contain my glee.

Amelia's feelings were more complicated than anyone else's. She watched the chaotic fight; Ryan constantly wiped his nosebleed and Adam charged forward. Her face showed no change in expression, but her body trembled slightly.

Suddenly, Amelia turned and ran. I quickly followed, leaving them to continue their fight.

After running a good distance, Amelia gradually slowed down, stopped trembling, and walked forward with her head down, as if exhausted.

I said, "Amelia, don't blame me for not telling you. The day I saw Ryan kissing another woman was when you were feeling down. I was afraid telling you would hurt you more, so I didn't dare to say anything. Later, when I decided to tell you, you had already broken up with him, so there was no need. I'm sorry, Amelia. I didn't mean to hide it from you. I just didn't want you to get hurt more."

Amelia said, "I understand, Jane. You don't need to feel guilty. They had already slept together. A kiss is nothing."

I called, "Amelia."

Amelia forced a smile, but behind it was deep sorrow. "It's really nothing. Since I decided to break up, I won't look back. But after so many years of liking him, it will take some time to get over it. It won't be long; don't worry."

I hugged her, feeling heartbroken, not knowing what to say to make her feel better.

A light laugh came from beside us, and a tall figure emerged with hands in pockets, standing in front of us. "Ladies, it's late. Let me take you home."

I knew this voice all too well. I was annoyed. The situation was already chaotic enough, and Daniel had to come and make it worse.
