Chapter 481 The Day of Making Love

The snow was coming down hard, blanketing everything in sight.

The orange streetlights cast different shades on the pure white snow, and it looked like tiny snowflakes were still floating around, dancing like little fairies in the light.

Soft music played in the car, and there was a faint scent of jasmine in the air.

I leaned against Brad's shoulder, the flickering lights bringing back memories from over the years—some dark and best forgotten, while the good ones, like the light, stayed with me.

The car stopped at the hotel entrance, about a hundred feet from the lobby.

Winter in Forest City was brutally cold. As I stepped out of the car, the icy air hit my face, taking my breath away. The cold wind cut right through the collar of my thick coat.

I pulled up my hood, tightened the collar, and ran towards the hotel lobby.

"Brad, hurry up, it's freezing!" I yelled as I ran.

Brad, lugging a suitcase in each hand, couldn't move fast. He smiled wryly, trying to keep up with me, constantly reminding me to be careful and not to fall.

We had already arranged the check-in. Brad grabbed the room key and headed straight to the room.

Once inside the warm room, I dug out a big towel and bathrobe from the suitcase and rushed into the bathroom, leaving Brad to unpack.

When I finished my shower and came out, Brad was sitting on a single sofa, talking on the phone with someone, looking super happy.

Seeing me come out, he said a few more words and then hung up, walking over to take the towel from my hand to dry my hair.

I asked, "Who were you talking to that made you so happy?"

Brad replied, "It was Hunter Shaw. We haven't seen each other in almost two years. He's here for some business, so we can catch up."

Matthew and Hunter were Brad's roommates at the Northern Institute of the Arts, and they were really close. After graduation, they went their separate ways, making it hard to meet. They mostly kept in touch by phone.

Now that they could reunite in Forest City, no wonder Brad was so happy.

Brad said, "Hunter got an offer from a well-known company before he even graduated. He's now a somewhat famous designer in the industry."

I responded, "He's amazing. Hunter wasn't serious about his studies, but it turns out he's quite capable when it comes to work."

Brad remarked, "By the way, Benjamin is also here this time. You decide whether to tell Mia about it."

I thought about it. Mia was back to visit her family and wouldn't attend the anniversary celebration, but she might attend the alumni gathering. Although Yancy would be with her, I should inform her to avoid any unpleasantness.

I sent Mia a message on Facebook. The chat box kept showing that the other party was typing, but after a long wait, all I got was a simple "I see."

The Northern Institute of the Arts' centennial celebration was grand, and many social celebrities were invited to the VIP seats.

Brad and I, as former prominent figures and for our achievements after leaving school, were seated in the second row of the podium, a prominent position that showed the school's high regard for us and gave us a lot of respect. So, the celebration kicked off with the principal giving this super passionate speech, followed by different sectors praising the school's role in society.

Each part of the program, which looked back at the past, examined the present, and dreamed about the future, got huge applause from the thousands of students below. Then, out of nowhere, Brad was asked to give a speech.

The school hadn't given him a heads-up, so he wasn't prepared.

But Brad, being a big-shot lecturer at National Capital University, nailed it. His less-than-ten-minute motivational speech totally hyped up the crowd. The students, who had heard all about him, went wild.

Even after Brad sat back down, people were still chanting his name.

After the ceremony, the school threw a reception in the cafeteria, with a talent show in the open-air venue later that evening.

Because of the whole Jenny incident, Brad and I were pretty well-known at the Northern Institute of the Arts.

At the reception, people kept coming over to chat with us.

We ran into a lot of familiar faces. Brad was in a great mood, drank quite a bit, and soon his eyes started to glaze over.

To avoid him getting all pouty and asking for kisses, which would totally ruin his image, I took advantage of his slight sobriety and managed to get him back to the hotel room.

After coming back from Silverbrook City to Regalia, Brad and I lived together for less than a month before we started sleeping separately. Mainly because we were super busy during the day, and Brad always wanted to have sex at night, which lasted forever, leaving me totally sleep-deprived.

So, I tossed Brad and his blanket into the guest room and set a rule of having sex once every half month, on the 15th and 30th of each month.

Brad wasn't thrilled about this, but for his health, I stood my ground.

Today was the day Brad looked forward to the most each month.

Back in the room, I made some hangover soup for Brad and fed it to him. Then I took a shower. When I came out, Brad was much more sober, standing by the window, admiring the city lights.

I climbed into bed, checked the alumni group for a bit, and started feeling sleepy. I put down my phone and was about to drift off.

Just as I was dozing off, I felt the bed dip beside me as a warm body snuggled up next to me. Brad pressed kisses, with a hint of alcohol, on my forehead, cheeks, and neck.

During sex, Brad, while giving it his all, whispered in my ear, "Baby, those four years at the Northern Institute of the Arts were the toughest of my life. Every day, I hoped you'd have sex with me in the next second. I even dreamed about it. Now, my dream has finally come true."

The next day was the gathering organized by Hunter, with classmates we used to hang out with.

I asked Mia if she was going to the gathering. She had just woken up and said she didn't want to go; she planned to take Yancy to Snow City to see the ice lanterns.
