Chapter 395 Life

Back then, I thought Brad was just being dramatic.

Now I realized, Brad had actually used food as a metaphor for our relationship.

He had known I'd struggle to accept his feelings, So he was trying to tell me in his own way that if I learned to adapt to him and accept him, I'd have the perfect lover and the happiest life.

Since then, I fell in love with this kind of food.

At first, it was just the taste. Later, when I went to National Capital University for grad school, Brad came to teach there too. We got together because of love. Eating this food again brought back so many feelings, and I loved it even more.

To me, this food was like Brad.

Brad had an amazing character. He was handsome, excellent, and super popular with the students. The school praised him a lot.

Some colleagues envied Brad and said he was arrogant because of his talent.

I heard those nasty comments sometimes, but no matter what they said, Brad was still the best in my heart, the person I loved the most.

I missed Brad so much!

It had only been two years, and I missed him like crazy. How would I get through the days ahead?

"You really are an artist, even when you're eating. You must be tasting something different."

I was lost in my memories when a clear, somewhat lonely female voice interrupted me. It was so familiar.

I opened my eyes, and there was Rachel, standing in front of me. She was wearing a white sweater and dark blue skinny jeans, looking young and beautiful.

"Have you eaten? Want to try some? This is a rare delicacy." I motioned for her to sit down and handed her a clean fork.

Rachel sat down, took the fork, tasted a bite, and said, "The taste is so strange."

She put down the fork, glanced at the remaining food with some disdain, and said, "This food leaves a weird taste in your mouth for too long. Remember to rinse your mouth."

I couldn't help but laugh. Exactly, others naturally couldn't understand my fondness for it, just like they couldn't feel my love for Brady.

Rachel got a bowl of food she liked, sprinkled a lot of chili on it, and kept eating even though her eyes were red from the spiciness, as if she was venting her anger.

"Rachel, putting so much chili will give you acne," I teased her.

Rachel stuffed her mouth full and mumbled, "I don't care."

I said, "Do you have something on your mind? If it's not a secret, you can tell me, and I'll help you out."

Rachel said, "It's because of Daniel. He always makes me sad."

I said, "Let me tell you, most guys are clueless. What kind of boyfriend and husband they become depends entirely on a woman's guidance and re-education."

Rachel said, "What's the use of me knowing? Daniel always has a serious face and is indifferent about everything. I want to guide and re-educate him, but there's no way to start. Last time, after we had dinner, we ran into his roommate; he introduced me as his junior. I never wanted to be his junior. I publicly told him how I felt, but all he did was insist he's just my senior. If I had known this was the identity I would get, I wouldn't have done so much. Do you think he will never like me?"

That's not necessarily true. In my opinion, Daniel must have some feelings for Rachel. It's just that Daniel has been cold since he was a kid, and after what happened with Zoe, his little bit of enthusiasm was exhausted. It's tough for Daniel to rekindle his passion, but it's not impossible.

I asked, "Rachel, tell me the truth, do you really like Daniel?"

"Of course." Rachel suddenly raised her voice, afraid I wouldn't believe her, and raised her right hand to swear, "Rachel likes Daniel, truly. As long as Daniel is willing to like me, I will never break up with him for the rest of my life."
