Chapter 491 The New House
"Man, you're so clumsy," Daniel said as he found the light switch and flicked it on. He looked at Rachel with concern, "You okay?"
"Yeah, I'm fine. This is the first time I've ever seen and been part of a proposal. I'm so happy. A little pain is nothing, really. I'm good."
Everyone burst out laughing at that.
Emma chimed in, "Jane, today is the happiest day I've had in seven years."
She kept wiping her eyes, making them all red. "I messed up a lot back then, and you and Brad went through so much because of me. I've regretted it every day since. For the past two years, I've been on edge, scared that you two wouldn't end up together because of me. If that happened, I'd never forgive myself."
"Brad, it's been a long time, but I need to apologize. I hope it's not too late." Emma looked up, trying to clear her tear-blurred vision as she searched for Brad's eyes, filled with regret.
"Mom, why are you saying this? We're family, always," Brad replied, his eyes red but his smile relaxed and relieved.
"Exactly. No matter what, Brad is always your son. Emma, you know your mistakes and can fix them. Just make it up to him in the future," Helen quickly added, seeing how guilty Emma felt.
"If we're talking about the past, the root of the mistakes was always me. I'm the one who should apologize. Today, in front of both families, I want to say again: I'm sorry, Helen. I'm sorry, Jane." Daniel bowed deeply to Helen and me, his sincerity clear.
Rachel seized the moment and weakly added, "Isn't today a proposal? How did it turn into an apology meeting?"
Everyone suddenly realized and quickly changed the topic.
The atmosphere became lively again.
Rachel said that since the rings were on, we couldn't skip the kissing part.
Hearing this, I was so embarrassed I wanted to disappear.
Kissing in front of both sets of parents was really awkward.
I blushed and stole a glance at Brad, whose ears were also turning red.
It wasn't just me who was embarrassed; Brad was shy too.
He said, "I'm going to kiss you."
I replied, "No, kiss me when no one's around."
Brad said, "They won't agree to that."
I said, "Then let's chase them away."
This was a pretty successful proposal ceremony.
After some fun, everyone left.
Rachel naturally followed Daniel back to the Pitt family, but not to the house next door. Emma said the house next door was for Brad and me.
After tidying up the living room, it was almost midnight.Ronan was so sleepy he could barely keep his eyes open, but he insisted on sitting on the couch, staring at Brad. It was pretty funny to watch.
Helen, clearly annoyed, grabbed Ronan by the ear and dragged him to the bedroom. While trying to save his ear, Ronan kept muttering for Brad to go live next door.
Helen snapped back, "They're engaged now. Why do you care so much? If you don't get to the bedroom, you'll be sleeping in the living room forever."
That did the trick. Ronan stopped struggling and obediently followed her to the bedroom.
Finally, Brad moved into my bedroom.
Later, I came out of the shower to find Brad sitting on the couch, seriously looking at his phone.
"I'm done showering, Brad. I'm going to sleep now," I said.
"Don't rush, baby. I want to show you something first," Brad replied, all mysterious.
He came over, grabbed my phone, put it in his pocket, and wrapped me in the blanket from the bed. Then he picked me up and started walking.
"What are you doing? I'm not dressed, and my hair isn't dry. Where are we going? Put me down," I protested.
Brad gave my butt a playful slap. "What are you yelling for? You'll wake your parents."
I quickly shut my mouth.
When my vision cleared, I found myself sitting on a completely unfamiliar but very likable bed.
Everything in front of me was new, but every little detail matched my taste perfectly, fitting my idea of a room and a home.
"Do you know where this is?" Brad smiled, pressing his hands on either side of my shoulders, his forehead touching mine.
"I know; it's your house across from mine," I answered with a grin.
We were so close that every word I said made my lips brush against his.
"This is also our home in Sunhaven. Baby, do you like it?" he asked, his voice soft and reassuring, his warmth enveloping me.
My lips were gently nibbled by his, our breaths mingling.
"Baby, thank you for agreeing to marry me. Are you happy?" He kissed my shoulders and neck, breathing heavily.
Of course, I was happy. I had never been this happy.
Brad continued, "I will try to be a good husband and a good father in the future. Do you prefer a son or a daughter? I will love any child you give birth to. If you have a daughter, I will protect you both. If you have a son, we will protect you together. Okay? Is that okay?"
"Baby, I miss you. I want to make love to you. Can I?" Brad's voice grew deeper and huskier, filled with longing and anticipation.
I moved my tightly wrapped body. "But I'm all wrapped up."
Brad couldn't help but laugh. His agile and strong hands quickly stripped the blanket off me and tossed it aside.
