Chapter 471 Outsider

I shrugged. Jenny was acting like a lunatic; why should I waste my time on her?

"Mr. Taylor, I'm here to grab those documents. Sorry for the hassle," I said.

Uriah, clearly fed up with Jenny, smiled and said, "I've got them ready. Want to come in and get them, or should I bring them out to you?"

"It's a bit of a trek. Could you bring them out, Mr. Taylor? Thanks," I replied.

"Sure thing, just hang tight. I'll be right back." Uriah turned and walked briskly towards the door, completely ignoring Jenny.

I wasn't about to give Jenny any attention either. I kept admiring the cherry blossoms, pretending she wasn't even there.

"Are you here to show off?" Jenny snapped at me.

I couldn't understand Jenny's logic. Did she think she was the center of the universe? I had way too much on my plate to deal with her drama.

"Is that necessary?" I asked calmly.

Jenny didn't say anything, but her glare was sharp enough to cut glass.

I just looked at her, my expression mocking.

My indifference was clearly getting to her. She was used to being in control, making my life difficult. Being ignored and scorned was something she couldn't handle.

But she had to deal with it; she brought this on herself. If you choose to hurt others, expect some pushback—that's just how it goes.

I saw Uriah's figure through the glass wall. Jenny noticed him too, shot me a fierce look, and hurried off after throwing a parting shot.

"Don't get too happy too soon," she hissed.

Her eyes were venomous, like a cold, slimy snake slithering over me.

Jenny's final look made me uneasy. Even after walking a long distance with the documents, I still felt unsettled.

Moreover, I sensed her words had a deeper meaning. I didn't know what it was, but it definitely wasn't just a straightforward threat.

When I got back, I handed the documents to Brad and found a place to sit down, pondering Jenny's words. I was so lost in thought that I didn't hear Brad calling me several times.

It wasn't until he came over and patted my shoulder that I snapped out of it.

"What's up? You seem distracted," Brad asked softly, sitting down next to me. He tucked a strand of my hair behind my ear and kissed my forehead. "No fever. Are you too tired? Why don't you rest for a bit?"

I shook my head, leaned on his shoulder, and wrapped my arms around his strong waist. "It's nothing. I just saw Jenny. She was arguing with Uriah. She might still want to join the project team."

Brad snorted, "Uriah's smart. He won't let that happen."

I nodded. Brad was so sharp he knew the outcome without me even needing to say anything. "I don't think Jenny will let it go that easily," I remarked.

"In the past, she relied on the Taylor family's power to do as she pleased. Now she's on her own; she can't stir up much trouble." Brad's words were meant to comfort me, but they made me even more uneasy.

It felt like falling into an unknown pit, continuously descending without knowing when I'd land. Only upon landing would I know my fate—whether I'd be crushed or saved. The room's vibe got a bit too serious for my liking, so I playfully nipped at Brad's Adam's apple.

Almost instantly, Brad's eyes lit up with a fiery intensity. His Adam's apple bobbed a few times, and his voice turned all husky and magnetic. "Oh, you're asking for it. Just wait until we get home tonight."

He pinched my waist, making me go weak. I looked at him tenderly but said the most disappointing thing. "Brad, we have to work late tonight. The hot spring painting needs to be finished today."

Brad's face fell, and he gritted his teeth before leaning in to bite me. I quickly pushed him away and ran off, laughing, with his indulgent and doting gaze following me.

The next few days were a whirlwind of busyness. Every night, I dreamed of painting.

The Taylor family was developing sixteen villa clusters, each with ten standalone villas. This meant Brad and I had to create at least 160 large drawings, with who knows how many smaller ones.

Even with both of us working on it, the timeline was super tight.

So, after the Taylor family handed us the architectural design plans, Brad and I dove into our work, with no time for anything else. Our nightly meetings turned from sweet, lingering moments to quick goodnight kisses.

The preliminary work at the lab was all set. We made several adjustments to the formula and applied the final product to the paintings, conducting further color retention experiments. The mining plan for the minerals was also submitted to the relevant departments and was under review.

Everything was moving in a positive direction.

I couldn't let go of either side, so I meticulously planned my time, running back and forth between both.

It was exhausting, but I felt great and energized.

After that day, I hadn't seen Jenny again; it was like she had vanished.

I met with Uriah several times, but he never mentioned her. I once asked Brad if he knew where Jenny was, as I felt her sudden compliance was out of character.

Brad just told me not to waste energy on irrelevant people and to focus on my painting.

Alright, I would focus on my painting.

This busyness lasted a long time. Spring passed, and summer arrived, bringing a new season of blooming flowers to the campus.

Half a year had passed, and I was now in my third year of grad school.

Many things had changed without me even realizing it.

From the budding cherry blossoms to the ripening peaches, Yancy finally succeeded in winning Mia over. As a token of their love, she gave her the first ring of her life. They announced their relationship on social media.

I heard that Benjamin transferred a large sum of money to Mia's bank account, wishing her happiness for the rest of her life. He said he wouldn't attend her wedding and begged Mia to accept the money, or he would never be at peace.

Upon learning this, Yancy immediately returned the money and quickly transferred his own assets to Mia's name. He then informed Benjamin that this was the money he had prepared for their wedding and that Benjamin needn't bother anymore. Whether Benjamin was at peace was his own business; Mia was Yancy's wife, and Yancy would cherish her. It was none of Benjamin's concern.
