Chapter 435 Secret Crush

I thought giving Jenny the cold shoulder would make her back off, but nope, she just kept coming.

It was like she didn't get that I wanted nothing to do with her. Or maybe she did get it and just didn't care.

Soon enough, I saw Jenny's reflection in the shiny elevator doors, steadily making her way over.

Right behind her was Michael, as usual, in his dark blue uniform. His face was as stern as ever as he pushed the wheelchair behind me. Jenny reached out, and Michael helped her stand and walk towards me.

I was taken aback by seeing Jenny in the elevator door's reflection. She moved slowly, with a noticeable limp in her right leg. But hey, she was walking on her own now, which meant she might fully recover someday.

Suddenly, the weight on my shoulders felt a bit lighter.

This was really surprising and good news.

Jenny stood next to me, trying hard to straighten up, her chin high, eyes full of arrogance. Her striped long dress made her look even prouder.

I covered my eyes, not wanting to look too closely. The black and white stripes were so bright they made me dizzy.

As an artist, my eyes were super important, and I didn't want to risk my vision because of Jenny.

Still, I felt a bit happy seeing Jenny able to stand and walk again.

If she could get back to her old self, maybe Brad and I wouldn't feel so guilty anymore.

"Jane, hand over your stuff to the person next to you. I need to talk to you," Jenny ordered, full of herself.

I rolled my eyes. I wasn't her employee or servant, so why should I listen to her?

Jenny was always trying to steal my boyfriend and even drugged him to try to sleep with him. I hadn't even confronted her about it, and here she was, acting all high and mighty.

"But I have nothing to say to you," I replied with a genuine smile.

Before I could finish, the elevator arrived. I grabbed my toolbox and walked away, with Elliot right behind me.

He was carrying something heavy, so he put the bag down as soon as we got in the elevator and dramatically fanned his neck with his hand, ignoring everyone else.

To others, it might seem normal, but I knew Elliot hated Jenny's strong perfume.

Jenny always wore such overpowering perfume that most people couldn't stand it.

I covered my mouth, laughing quietly.

Elliot was really sweet. No matter what, he always had my back.

Jenny, standing a couple of steps away, saw me ignoring her and stepped into the elevator. She tried to stop me, "You dare to do it but not admit it? Don't make me look down on you."

Jenny's words were bold, but her actions couldn't keep up.

She took a step, raising her right hand, but then stumbled and fell into Michael's arms, who had been watching over her the whole time.

Michael held her tightly, his big hand supporting her waist, his face full of tenderness.

I wasn't shocked. That was the look any guy would have for a woman he loved, which meant Michael had a thing for Jenny.

From what I could tell, Michael was probably Jenny's personal assistant, taking care of her daily needs and keeping her company.

When a guy and a girl were around each other all the time, it was easy for feelings to develop. But I wondered if Jenny knew how Michael felt about her. And if she did, how would she react?

Given Jenny's status, even if she knew, she probably wouldn't care. She'd likely look down on him. Her goal was to marry into the Taylor family and become a true socialite. To secure her place, she needed a husband who was top-notch in every way.

And Michael, with his background and status, just didn't cut it. Jenny could rely on his care but would never marry him.

It seemed like a hopeless, one-sided love with no future.

I didn't respond to Jenny's words. Instead, I stood in the elevator, smiling as the doors slowly closed, waving goodbye to Jenny with my right hand, leaving Jenny outside, fuming with anger.

"Who is she?"

"A lunatic."

Elliot glanced at me and said nothing more.

My phone had died. After getting to my room, I plugged it in and turned it on, and the notifications started flooding in.

I picked up my phone and glanced at it. As expected, they were all from Jenny.

For a moment, I really wanted to block her.

But, it was not the right time.

[Jane, if you have the guts, come down and talk to me face to face. Don't just hide.]

[You've seriously violated the agreement, and I have the right to hold you accountable.]

[I'm still willing to talk to you now, so come down quickly. If you anger me, you can't bear the consequences.]

[Bitch, don't seduce people you shouldn't.]

[You did something shameless, and now you don't dare to see me? You bitch.]

The more I read, the more unbearable Jenny's words became. She thought she was humiliating me, but in reality, she was just showing how petty and insecure she was.

Brad didn't want Jenny even after being drugged, so she must have been humiliated because of that.

Jenny: [I'll wait for you for half an hour. If you don't come down within half an hour, I'll post about Brad's ingratitude and breach of agreement on the social platforms of National Capital University and Northern Institute of the Arts. Let's see how you explain yourselves then.]

The previous messages were trivial and didn't bother me. But the last one hit the mark, forcing me to abandon the idea of ignoring Jenny like trash.

If Jenny really used the media to target us, how would we respond? With Jenny's skills, she was great at twisting facts and making up stories.

In the digital age, various video news stories popped up all the time. Whether true or false, people just wanted to be entertained. The more chaotic, the better.

People would like it if they found it amusing, and curse if they found it annoying.

Afterward, they would forget about it. Few cared if the people involved were hurt or if the events were true.
