Chapter 485 Give Birth

I took a sip of juice, trying to calm my queasy stomach. Just as I was about to say something, Mia snapped, "There's some truth to that. No matter how difficult Jane is, she wouldn't stoop so low as to argue with a dog."

Benjamin, who had been lounging around since the start of the meal, looked genuinely shocked by Mia's outburst. It was probably the first time he'd seen this side of her.

"Mia, this has nothing to do with you. Shut up." Jenny, clearly insulted, couldn't keep up her fake smile and was fuming. Getting chewed out in front of everyone was pretty embarrassing.

The folks who had been chatting with Jenny earlier sensed the tension and wisely kept quiet. Everyone here was from the Northern Institute of the Arts, and they all knew how arrogant Brad used to be. No one wanted to mess with him.

Honestly, I found Jenny repulsive. If it weren't for the fact that it was rare for everyone to get together and I didn't want to ruin the vibe, I would've gone over and smacked her. I'd been practicing some moves with Amelia and was getting pretty good. Jenny seemed like the perfect target.

Jenny probably thought I was ignoring her because I was scared, so she kept trying to provoke me. I was about to snap back, but someone beat me to it.

Benjamin chimed in, "Who brought this disgusting person Jenny here? She's nauseating. I, Benjamin, have no problem hitting a woman, so don't push me."

"Exactly, don't you know how gross you are? No one invited you. How did you even get here? Are you starving or just desperate for attention? Or do you have some hidden agenda?" Hunter added.

Hunter couldn't stand Jenny. He wouldn't be satisfied until he insulted her.

Ever since that false accusation incident on the Northern Institute of the Arts alumni network, anyone with a sense of right and wrong hated Jenny. Those who greeted her earlier probably did so because she had money. When things got heated, they knew better than to get involved. They wouldn't side with Jenny.

Jenny was so mad her lips were trembling. She opened her mouth a few times but didn't dare say anything. Whether it was the furious Brad or Benjamin, she couldn't afford to provoke either of them now.

The Taylor family had some influence in the North, but the Davis Family was deeply rooted. The Taylors weren't even fit to carry the Davis family's shoes. Plus, Jenny had been permanently kicked out of the Taylor family. She wouldn't dare go up against the new generation of Davis Family leaders.

So, even though Benjamin humiliated her, she didn't dare fight back. She just glared at me with hatred. But I ignored her.Michael, who had been standing by Jenny's side, saw she was in a tough spot and quickly stepped in to back her up. He whispered something to her and then looked up, saying, "Ms. Taylor is pregnant and not feeling well. If she's offended anyone, I apologize. Please don't keep targeting her. It's not fair to gang up on a pregnant woman."

Michael's words were basically a challenge to Benjamin and the others.

I had to give it to Michael for standing up for Jenny and not being afraid of someone as powerful as Benjamin.

But Jenny probably always saw Michael as just a lackey.

I felt bad for the guy.

Michael continued, "Ms. Taylor, you've been out too long. You should go back and rest."

It was a good excuse. No one at the table was going to stick up for Jenny. If she stayed any longer, it would just get more embarrassing.

Jenny wasn't dumb. She immediately put her hand weakly on Michael's arm and stood up. "Let's go. I'm tired."

Hearing that, Michael looked even more concerned. He helped her up, grabbed her coat, and helped her put it on, then supported her as they headed for the door.

But after a few steps, Jenny suddenly screamed.

Before anyone could react, she leaned against Michael, one hand on her lower abdomen and the other gripping his sleeve, her face twisted in pain. "Hurry, we need to get to the hospital!"

"Is Jenny about to give birth? That's so scary," a female voice suddenly exclaimed.

Everyone turned to look at Jenny, only to see her panting heavily, the hem of her white dress soaked.

I had never seen anything like this before and couldn't help but feel scared. Brad and Mia each grabbed one of my hands, and Mia whispered in my ear, "She must be about to give birth."

At that moment, Michael pulled out his phone and made a call. Soon, two young guys ran in from outside, and the three of them got Jenny onto a stretcher and carried her away.

Jenny was gone, but a puddle of water was left where she had been standing, and a weird smell filled the room. It was pretty gross.

Hunter angrily threw his fork on the table. "Is Jenny nuts? She's about to give birth and still came out to cause trouble. She ruined a perfectly good meal."

Benjamin pushed his chair back, took out a pack of cigarettes from his coat pocket, lit one, and took a deep drag. "What bad luck."

This gathering, which everyone had been looking forward to, ended in disappointment because of Jenny.

The plan to go sing together was also ruined.

As I walked out of the hotel, it was already pitch dark. The cold wind was biting, so I put my hands in Brad's coat pockets.

Brad extended his long arm to wrap around my shoulders. "Don't come out. Wait inside. I'll go get the car."

Mia and I retreated back inside, standing behind the glass door waiting for Brad.

Benjamin, who had been in a bad mood all evening, appeared at the elevator and walked over to stand behind Mia.
