Chapter 348 Intentions

I said, "Amelia's my ride-or-die. How can I just sit back and do nothing? If I see it and don't step in, do I even deserve to call her my friend? Brad, you can't let me turn into some heartless jerk."

Brad just laughed and flicked my forehead. "What are you even saying? Look, you gotta find out if Amelia and Ryan are done for real. If they are, then maybe Ryan's actions make sense. If not, then yeah, it's a whole different ball game, right?"

I mulled it over and realized he had a point. I should go back and ask Amelia before jumping to conclusions.

Brad and I had walked quite a bit when I glanced back. Their kiss was over; they were staring at each other all lovey-dovey. Ryan said something, and the girl smiled shyly, tears in her eyes.

My chest burned with anger. This Ryan dude, he was ice-cold with Amelia but all fiery with another girl. What did Amelia see in such a fake guy? I really felt she deserved better.

Brad dragged me along. I grudgingly pulled out my phone and snapped a bunch of pics of the shameless couple from different angles. If Ryan and Amelia ever hit a rough patch, these photos would be proof of his betrayal.

I thought, 'No way I'm letting my bestie get played.'

After that mess, I wasn't in the mood to shop for clothes. All I could think about was calling Amelia to check on her.

Brad said, "Babe, think before you act. Don't let your impulsiveness mess things up. Didn't you notice at dinner that this guy doesn't give a damn about Amelia, while she treats him like gold?"

Seeing my anxiety, Brad tried to calm me down.

I asked, "So what?"

Brad said, "So, Amelia might have sensed something's off. Everyone's got a side they don't show. Don't overstep, got it?"

Brad was right. In this relationship, Amelia was definitely the one getting the short end of the stick. I didn't know why she was so into Ryan, but we all knew Amelia was head over heels for him.

Alright, I admitted Brad made sense. I shoved my phone back in my pocket and tried to focus on shopping. But with my mind all over the place, Brad ended up picking stuff for me.

Brad picked out a set of white, cozy sweatshirts and pants, plus two branded tracksuits, all comfy and warm, just how I liked it.

On the way back, Brad drove smoothly. I closed my eyes to rest in the passenger seat, but then I realized this wasn't the way home.

I asked, "Where are we going?"

"Got a little surprise for you," Brad said with a mysterious grin, "Close your eyes for a bit; we'll be there in about fifteen minutes."

Brad's words got me curious. I couldn't rest anymore, my eyes glued to the window, trying to guess what he had in store.

After about ten minutes, the car turned into a new neighborhood. It was super nice, with mountains, water, and lots of greenery. A few kids were riding their bikes on the stone paths, their happy laughter lifting my spirits.

Something was clicking in my brain. I glanced at Brad. He grinned, messed up my hair, and slung his arm around my shoulder. "It's right there. Check it out, see if you dig it."

It was a garden villa with killer north-south orientation, sitting pretty on a middle floor. The view was epic, with clear blue skies and picture-perfect clouds.

The layout was three bedrooms and two living rooms, decked out in simple wallpaper and warm-colored floors, just my style. The curtains were a light blue, swaying gently in the autumn breeze. Somewhere, a wind chime tinkled softly, each sound hitting me right in the feels.

It was like stepping into a dream. I covered my mouth in surprise, tears welling up in my eyes.

I had always dreamed of having our own place, a cozy home where we could grow old together.

Brad had mentioned this a while back; I had imagined how to decorate our house, where to hang my paintings, and what style to choose for the TV wall. But it had been put on hold because we were always so busy.

I never expected Brad to remember and set it all up for me.

He had watched me grow up and knew all my preferences. So, the house's decor and amenities perfectly matched my taste, even better than I had imagined. This was my home. I really, really loved it.

Brad's warm finger gently wiped a tear from the corner of my eye. "Why are you crying? Don't you like it?"

I was utterly stunned, a wave of pure joy washing over me.

He kissed my forehead lightly. "Look, this biggest room with the terrace can be your studio. Here, you can paint any size you want."

The terrace stood independently; it was turned into a glass house, guranteeing tons of natural light.

Brad hugged me from behind, his chin resting on my forehead, standing on the glass terrace. "Baby, this is your Crystal House. You can set it up however you like. I've already ordered the furniture we picked out together. It should arrive soon. If you don't mind, I'd like to invite your parents and mine to spend Christmas here and talk about our future."

I thought, 'Our future? What else could it be but our wedding?'

I grinned like an idiot, a giddy anticipation bubbling inside me. I knew talking about marriage was inevitable, and somehow, I was looking forward to it more than I could have imagined.

"You never mentioned this before," I said, trying to act coy.

Brad said, "If I told you, it wouldn't be a surprise, right? Baby, do you blame me?"

I shook my head. How could I blame him for doing something so perfect for me? I was a reasonable person.

I asked, "When can we move in?"

Brad said, "The materials used are all eco-friendly, but we still need to ventilate for a while longer for safety. I've hired a professional team to purify the air. It should be good in about a month."

I said, "I want a big waterbed, one that can be heated."

Brad nodded. "Okay."

I said, "I also want a new set of art supplies."

Brad replied, "Okay."

I said, "I want to turn that room into a walk-in closet."

Brad nodded. "Okay."
