Chapter 445 Impressions
When Declan's wife said that, Elliot kept butting in, saying I was just being picky and couldn't handle a little hardship because I wouldn't eat.
Brad, sitting next to me, was trying so hard not to laugh that his ears turned red. If I hadn't been giving him those "don't you dare" looks, I might've been the laughingstock of the whole group.
So, yeah, I was mad but didn't dare call out Brad for his stifled laughter. Worried he'd spill my little secret, I gave his foot a few stealthy stomps to keep him in line.
True to form, Brad caught on quick. When I lifted my leg again, he snagged it and rested it on his own long legs, giving my calf a playful pinch.
Now I was half-suspended, and if I moved, I might topple over, so I quickly sat up straight and obediently ate my meal.
I tried to control him, but ended up being the one controlled. Not my finest moment.
After we ate, Declan took us into the mountains, and of course, Brad tagged along.
He'd shown up early in the morning, clearly having driven all night after our call, without any rest. I felt bad for him and wanted him to stay at Declan's to rest.
But selfishly, I wanted him with me. It wasn't easy for us to meet up, and even harder to do so without prying eyes. I wanted Brad to come into the mountains with me.
I was torn.
Luckily, Brad was clear-headed and said business was important. He'd go with me and could sleep when we got back. Plus, he wanted to check things out himself.
In an empty lot across the yard, there was a black SUV covered in a thick layer of dust, with two deep scratches on the left rear wheel and mud splattered all over the back.
Last night, Brad had driven this car all the way to me.
Just looking at the car's sorry state, you could tell the journey had been tough and urgent.
I felt both sorry for and touched by Brad.
For me, Brad never let mountains or distances stop him. He never backed down from challenges and always gave it his all.
As long as he was there, I had someone to lean on and felt safe.
Brad, my lifelong love, you've always been there for me during my hardest and saddest times. Thank you.
The road into the mountains was long and tough. Elliot and Declan walked ahead, giving Brad and me some alone time. They chatted about something, occasionally turning back to give us knowing smiles, clearly teasing me.
My face flushed, but I held Brad's arm even tighter.
Since meeting Brad, I hadn't had a proper conversation with him for almost three hours. I had so much to say to him, and I didn't care what others thought.
"Are you tired? Want me to carry you?" Brad asked, holding my hand.
I looked at Brad. His eyes were still gentle, his smile warm, but he looked exhausted. Yet, for my sake, he was still holding on.
Last night during our video call, Brad was already very tired, but I was too scared to notice. He'd driven all night to find me early this morning, and he must be exhausted. I really shouldn't have dragged him into the mountains with me.If I asked Brad to carry me when he was this tired, would I even deserve to be his girlfriend?
"I'm not tired. I used to practice martial arts with Amelia and could keep up with basic training for an hour. My stamina is really good now, and I can walk a long way," I boasted to Brad, holding his hand and skipping along. "Brad, are you tired? When we get back, I'll give you a massage so you can have a good sleep."
Brad said, "I'm a bit tired, but not too much. I can still manage. But you better keep your promise and not forget when we get back. I'm counting on that massage, or I won't sleep well."
"I won't forget. You worked so hard for me; I have to repay you."
"Really? How do you plan to repay me?" Brad asked with a surprised look.
I tilted my head, thinking hard but couldn't come up with a good idea in a hurry, so I said, "You tell me."
"Make you feel good," Brad said with a mischievous smile.
I didn't get what he meant and was confused when Brad suddenly squeezed the soft flesh at my waist, then moved his hand up to encircle me, his palm brushing against my chest a few times before giving it a squeeze.
I suddenly understood. My cheeks burned. Brad was teasing me again!
There were people ahead who could turn around at any moment, how could he dare!
Scenes from that night in the dark suddenly flashed in my mind: the hot embrace, the scorching kisses, the rhythmic thrusts, and the ultimate pleasure after complete satisfaction.
I quickened my pace, trying to catch up with the two people ahead.
I chased for a good five minutes, but not only did I not catch up, I also wore myself out, making Brad laugh behind me.
I really needed to work on my stamina. As soon as I got back, I'd start hitting the punching bag.
The mountain path was already tough, but the trail within the mountains was even worse, riddled with potholes.
The place we were heading to had slopes covered with crooked trees, and in several spots, the trees had disappeared for some unknown reason, replaced by uneven tall grass.
The path underfoot was uneven, the gray-black ground covered with deep and shallow footprints, and two parallel tracks of unknown origin, which I guessed were left by some kind of vehicle, extending forward endlessly.
Brad stopped teasing me and walked shoulder to shoulder with me, talking softly as we went.
I was so happy that I didn't feel tired even after walking for a long time, and the road seemed much shorter.
"Does this place look familiar to you?" Brad asked.
"Everything looks identical. With no flowers in bloom this season, the landscape appears so lifeless." After wandering in the mountains for a while, the initial excitement about the scenery had worn off, and I was experiencing aesthetic fatigue. No matter how beautiful the scenery was, it didn't seem special anymore.
Brad patted my neck and then put his arm around my shoulder, continuing to walk forward.
I didn't know if it was because of Brad's question, but the rough path really started to look familiar.
"Brad, this place does seem familiar. It's so strange."
Brad pressed his lips together and said nothing, just holding my hand and walking forward.
I said I wasn't tired, but my legs were actually very tired.
