Chapter 489 Dialogue
Was that the main point? The main point was to pick me up. I could almost see Brad's jealous face, and I couldn't help but laugh. "We just happened to run into each other."
Brad replied, "Alright, I'll wait for you at the school gate."
I closed my phone and looked up to find Uriah watching me with a smile, his expression ambiguous. Seeing me look up, he smiled and said, "Chatting with your boyfriend? Mr. Pitt is a nice guy. How is he? Is Mr. Pitt especially good to you?"
"Yeah, Brad is especially good to me. Besides my dad, he's the person who loves me the most in this world, no one else comes close." To emphasize how good Brad was to me, I added an extra "especially."
That day when Brad picked me up, he looked a bit displeased. Maybe it was because of Uriah's presence that he didn't act out. But that night, Brad tirelessly made love to me for half the night.
I was so exhausted that my back and legs ached. I tried every way to avoid another round, but he shamelessly said, "It's okay, baby. If you're tired, just sleep. Leave everything to me."
When I remembered to question him about breaking our agreement, his response was self-righteous. Ever since he knew I was willing to have his baby, he always had this self-righteous attitude.
He said, "You can only sit in my passenger seat. If you sit in someone else's, I'll deal with you every time. I don't mind dealing with you three times a day."
Due to tight schedules and heavy tasks, Brad and I decided to spend New Year's at school to maximize our time for creating. We planned to go back home during the winter break.
Helen was particularly unhappy about this. They almost came over to spend New Year's with us.
During the winter break, Brad and I went back to Sunhaven.
When we got back, we found out that Hugh's family had moved in across the street from us.
They often conspired in my mom's study for over an hour at a time, and I had no idea what they were discussing.
One day, I couldn't stand not knowing what was going on. Being excluded from secrets by my mom felt particularly bad.
So, I went to ask Brad if he knew what big event was happening at home.
Brad dismissed me with one sentence: "Let them conspire about whatever they want. They can't possibly sell us off."
The more I thought about it, the more it made sense, so I decided to let it go.
That night, the seven of us from both families sat in my dining room for dinner.
I felt a bit dazed.
How many years had it been since I saw a scene like this?
The people were still the same.
However, everything had indeed changed—not just appearances, but also our states of mind.
The dinner was both joyful and heavy.
Because no one could forget the past; they were just deliberately trying to forget.
We carried those past experiences—happy, painful, sorrowful, hopeful—and moved forward with effort.
As we were finishing dinner, I suddenly remembered something. I asked, "Where's Rachel? Didn't she come over?"
Emma and Helen exchanged glances and smiled mysteriously. Helen replied, "She has something important to do."
Winter days were shorter, and by the time we finished dinner, it was already dark.
I was sitting on the couch, preparing some fruit for dessert when Brad checked his phone, suddenly stood up, and walked out the door.
It was unusual for him to leave without any explanation.
I asked everyone in confusion where he went and why he didn't say anything.
Daniel sneered and said, "Don't worry about him. He'll be back soon."
I put down the half-peeled apple and was about to chase after him, but my mom dragged me into my bedroom to seriously discuss the project design.
Helen's sudden interest in my work made me a bit uneasy.
My parents had never interfered with my work before. Her sudden concern left me at a loss, and I answered her questions blankly.
While I was reporting to Helen, there seemed to be some commotion in the living room. I tried several times to go out and see what was happening, but Helen firmly held me back, continuing our conversation.
I noticed Helen was suppressing her excitement, and I couldn't help but think wildly.
