Chapter 156 Raymond's Ability, Worth Only a Dollar
Raymond sat on the bed without getting up. Paige glanced at Louis, who had come with her, thinking that Louis probably didn't know about Raymond pretending to be disabled, and she didn't plan to expose it now.
Paige didn't reveal anything, just looked expressionlessly at Raymond sitting on the bed.
After Paige finished speaking, she stood there without saying another word, waiting for Raymond to give her a reasonable explanation.
Or, at least a reasonable excuse.
Raymond's eyes lit up as he saw the diamond necklace he had given her around Paige's neck.
A layer of joy rose in his heart. He remembered that this necklace had always been kept in that house. He thought Paige had been solely focused on her mother these past few days, but she had taken the time to retrieve the necklace.
However, Raymond's inner joy did not show on his face.
He remained calm, even somewhat indifferent.
His voice was also cold as he said, "I caught a cold and didn't want to infect you, so I stayed here."
Paige was a doctor, and a particularly skilled one.
Looking at Raymond, she saw no signs of a cold.
Moreover, he was shirtless, and Paige found his lie very unconvincing.
Paige looked at Louis beside her, "You go out first. I want to talk to your uncle alone."
Louis had to leave first. Paige closed the door and walked to Raymond's side. She deliberately got close, even provocatively saying, "You have a cold? How convenient, I'm quite good at medicine."
Raymond immediately lifted the blanket, trying to get up and avoid her.
Paige glanced towards the door, "Aren't you afraid of being exposed?"
At this moment, Paige's gaze was not entirely on Raymond.
She looked at the layout of the room and that window. Yes, it was too familiar.
That day, wasn't she in this very room?
Before Raymond could speak, Paige continued, "I heard you're the owner of this room, and no one else can stay here, right?"
Raymond was sure it was Louis who had told her.
He was still pondering whether Paige suspected that the man from that day was him.
If it had been before, Paige's suspicion might have allowed him to give her an answer, saying his leg was disabled.
But now he had already stood up in front of Paige, making it clear that pretending to have a disabled leg was no longer effective.
However, if he admitted that he was the man from that day and that he had recognized Paige as the woman from that day long ago, and hadn't told her all this time, Paige would definitely be very angry.
But right now, he had no other choice.
Raymond said simply, "It seems so."
Paige's gaze deepened as she looked at Raymond. "May I ask, on the first day I was released, were you staying here?"
As Paige's words fell, the room became so quiet that you could hear a pin drop.
If he admitted he was staying here, it would be equivalent to admitting he was the man who had pulled Paige into this pre-arranged situation and made love to her.
But if he denied it, he would be too much.
Paige stared at Raymond, waiting for him to give her an answer.
Actually, the answer was already on the tip of Paige's tongue.
She had her suspicions, but seeing Raymond's expression, she was even more convinced it was him.
But Raymond hesitated, not answering for a long time, which clearly disappointed Paige.
At this moment, the door opened from the outside, and a young, alluring woman walked in.
Paige recognized her immediately as the woman from the photo.
Raymond was disgusting!
Paige's heart was filled with anger.
The woman walked to Raymond's bedside with a smile. "Raymond, who is she?"
Raymond said, "Let me introduce you, Ms. Sackler, from the Sackler Group..."
Before Raymond could finish, Paige was already enraged.
She hated it when people associated her with the Sackler family.
Moreover, she and Raymond were legally married, yet Raymond introduced her as Ms. Sackler in front of this alluring woman.
Paige yanked the diamond necklace from her neck and threw it directly at Raymond's handsome face.
The necklace was quite heavy.
Raymond didn't dodge, as he was looking at the alluring woman and didn't have time to avoid it. The diamond necklace hit Raymond's face, knocking off his gold-rimmed glasses and leaving a cut on his nose.
Paige didn't feel sorry for the cut, turned around, and left, leaving only one sentence behind: "Miss, don't forget to pay. Raymond charges a dollar a night."
Raymond didn't expect Paige to bring this up.
But her saying this meant she had completely confirmed he was the man who had spent that night with her.
Yet he hadn't directly admitted it to her.
So Paige mocked him.
Behind Paige, the alluring woman asked in confusion, "What does a dollar a night mean?"
Paige, who had just reached the door, turned around, held the doorknob, and said to the alluring woman inside, "Raymond's performance in bed is only worth a dollar." After saying that, Paige gave a mocking smile and slammed the door shut.
As Paige walked out of the room, she saw Louis still standing at the door. She threw the room card at Louis.
Louis quickly caught it.
He didn't dare say much and just followed Paige. She took a step, and he followed.
Paige suddenly turned around, and Louis almost bumped into her.
Paige angrily said, "The Carnegie family men are all no good."
Louis was like this, and so was Raymond!
Louis felt wronged; after all, he wasn't the one caught hanging out with another woman.
He had used some unscrupulous means to gain power and resources, but he knew who he truly liked.
Moreover, he and Xena hadn't booked a room alone!
Compared to Raymond, there was still a difference.
Louis softly said, "Grandpa treated you well."
Paige felt speechless. How dare he talk back to her?
Paige took a deep breath. "Don't follow me. I have nothing to do with the Carnegie family anymore."
She was not someone who needed to please others.
Louis didn't dare follow her too closely.
After leaving Windrain Tower, Paige got into her car, floored the gas pedal, and drove straight back to Sunset Haven Residence.
She needed to know who that woman was!
Whether she still wanted Raymond or not, she had to find out who had taken her man!
Paige didn't order anyone else to do this. She returned to her study, turned on her computer, and started investigating herself.
Half an hour later, Paige's computer stopped on a page, and she was stunned.
