Chapter 194 Full Suppression of the Sackler Group

Xena was concerned about the matching results, as they would determine the fate of the Sackler Group and whether she would need to donate a kidney, which would affect her health from then on. Margaret couldn't even manage the Sackler Group at this moment; she was also waiting here for the doctor's words.

The doctor looked at Paige because he knew Paige was ultimately responsible for Luna's condition. The doctor didn't answer Xena's question.

Paige asked, "How are the matching results?"

The doctor slightly shook his head and handed the data report to Paige, who carefully examined the data in her hand; she could understand all of it. Seeing that none of the results matched, the document in Paige's hand lightly fell to the ground.

Paige said in disappointment, "How could this be?" At least one person should have been a match. Statistically speaking, the probability of both her and Xena failing to match was very low. Paige coulsn't believe Luna was so unlucky that both her and Xena's matching results were incompatible.

Seeing Paige's disheartened expression, the doctor comforted her, "We have expedited the search for a kidney donor for Luna. As soon as a suitable donor is found, we will prepare for surgery immediately."

Paige nodded and said softly, "Thank you."

After delivering the data report, the doctor left. Margaret disappointed obviously. The failed match meant that Paige had no reason to spare the Sackler Group.

Paige looked at Xena and said, "I thought fate would give you a chance to atone, but unfortunately, the match failed. If you could still save Mom, I would really be willing to let go of all the grudges between us. I could even help the Sackler Group through this crisis. But you don't have that chance.”

Now, Paige only felt hatred when she saw Xena, hating her for hurting Luna to this extent—if no suitable donor was found, Luna would endure great pain.

If it were just pain, Paige might not be so resentful. There was a possibility that Luna might not even survive, and that was what Paige hated Xena for the most.

Xena showed no emotion on the surface, but inside, she was very happy. Unless she was crazy, she would never want to donate a kidney to Luna.

Margaret walked over in disappointment, wanting to say something to Paige, but Paige ignored her. She shouted, "Get them out of here!"

Right now, Paige didn't want to see Xena and Margaret. Margaret said, "The stocks..."

Margaret might have wanted to plead, but before she could start, Paige interrupted her, "From today on, I will use all my power to suppress the Sackler Group!"

Originally, if Xena had matched, this could have been avoided. But now, it was inevitable. Paige would no longer give them any breathing room.

Just as the bodyguards came up to take Margaret and Xena out, Margaret suddenly blurted out, "Paige, I'm willing to get tested. If I'm a match, I'm willing to donate my kidney to save her."

Paige looked at Margaret and coldly smiled. "Xena and I both failed to match. Even if you're willing to get tested, it might not succeed. And I won't thank you."

Margaret broke free from the bodyguard's grip and said to Paige, "I will find more people to help with the matching. As long as it succeeds, I will give her a kidney unconditionally."

Paige sneered coldly, "Unconditionally? It means you want me to spare the Sackler Group and save them at a critical moment, right? It doesn't matter. As long as you can get a kidney for my mom, no matter how dangerous the situation gets for the Sackler Group, I can save you. But time is tight. From now on, my pressure on the Sackler Group will continue!"

Paige naturally gave Margaret this opportunity. As long as the match was successful, Paige would give the Sackler Group the greatest favor. But now, her pressure on the Sackler Group wouldn’t be lenient.

Xena was extremely furious and yelled at Paige, "Paige, what gives you the right to do this? Who knows you better than we do? Aren't you afraid we'll expose your identity?"

Xena wanted to say more, but Margaret slapped her. Margaret said harshly, "Shut up."

No matter who Paige was, with her current status, she could easily do something to the Sackler Group. On the contrary, they had no power to fight back.

Paige was surprised that Margaret, who loved Xena so much, would actually hit her. It seemed that Margaret indeed valued the Sackler Group and the benefits it brought the most. Paige pointed to the door. "Please leave."

As she drove Xena and Margaret out, Paige didn't forget to remind Margaret, "Mrs. Sackler, you should be able to get the data for the kidney my mom needs, right?"

Margaret nodded with difficulty, as if nodding to Paige was a great humiliation. But despite the humiliation, Margaret eventually compromised. She had spent her whole life building the Sackler Group and couldn't let it be completely destroyed in her hands.

Margaret left with Xena. Back in the car, Margaret gently touched Xena's cheek where she had slapped her. "Xena, does it hurt? I had no choice. You saw it yourself; Paige is not the same as before."

She added, "There are some things we must be more restrained about in front of her. Now, she has grown to be on par with the Hawke Corporation. If we speak so recklessly in front of her, we will only destroy ourselves. Do you understand?"

Xena was almost driven mad with anger when Margaret slapped her. Even though Margaret was comforting her now, Xena was still full of resentment. But she also knew very well that Margaret was the only one who could protect her, and everything about the Sackler Group was still in Margaret's hands. No matter how angry she was, she couldn't show it.

Xena endured the slap and shook her head, saying, "Grandma, I was wrong. I knew Paige is different now, but I still said those things in front of her. If my words anger her, it will definitely be bad for the Sackler Group."

Margaret sighed in relief. "Yes, from now on, we must be careful with our words in front of her. No matter how she got to her current position, she is now at a height we can't reach. We have no choice but to submit."

Xena nodded. "Grandma, I understand. I'll be more careful in the future. But Paige said there would be pressure on the Sackler Group. What should we do now?"

Margaret said, "I'll go get tested and offer a reward to get more people to test for a match for Luna. As long as we can find a kidney that can save Luna before Paige does, the Sackler Group's crisis will be resolved."

For Luna, Paige was willing to go to prison for five years. Giving up some benefits now was nothing in comparison. With things developing to this point, Margaret kept wondering if all of this was retribution.

Xena suggested, ''Grandma, offering a reward is enough. You don't need to get tested yourself. The probability of a successful match without a blood relation is already low. Neither Paige nor I were successful. Your health is the most important. Also, we should look for someone who can help us. If we have support, maybe we can get through this crisis smoothly.''

Margaret agreed. "Yes, you're right. I'll handle the testing. You take care of the Sackler Group's development. The relationships you're building now will be useful to you in the future. I'm getting old, and the Sackler Group will eventually be handed over to you."

Margaret and Xena revised their plan. Meanwhile, Paige was hearing one bad news after another, and her mood hit rock bottom.

Pearl had brought work to the hospital for Paige to handle, and Amelia was there to help, who was absent-minded while handing something over.

Paige called her name twice before she responded. "Sorry, Xanthe, I didn't notice you. I was lost in thought."

Paige put down her work. "What were you thinking about so deeply?"

Amelia responded, "I just find it strange. You and Xena are both Ms. Parker's biological daughters. The probability of a successful match should be high. How did all of you fail?"

Paige took a sip of coffee. "Yeah, the success rate should be high. How did we all fail? My mom's luck is just too bad. If the match was successful, we could prepare for surgery right now." Luna was falling into a coma more and more, with less and less time awake. Paige felt heartbroken just looking at her.

Amelia asked, "I was thinking, what method could we use to find a matching kidney for your mom as quickly as possible?"

Amelia's words sparked an idea in Paige. "Right, how could I be so stupid? I should be offering a reward on DarkNet Exchange worldwide." With that, Paige grabbed her phone and car keys and said to Amelia, "You watch over my mom. I'm going out for a bit."

Paige left immediately. Pearl came in with a stack of documents and asked, "Where did she go?"

Amelia shrugged. "Not sure, but probably to look for a kidney. I'm just puzzled why Xena's match also failed."

Pearl replied casually, "Since she's already been tested, why not have the doctors check other things? Maybe they'll find out why the match failed."

Amelia nodded. "Makes sense. I'll have them check." The thing Xena feared most happened just like that, in a casual conversation between Amelia and Pearl.
