Chapter 162 Treating Luna
Paige said, "Chill, let's wait it out. Mom's not in the best shape right now; she gets tired and sleepy real quick. I'll take care of her today. Once she's better, we can have the Sackler family over."
Pearl nodded, waiting for Paige's next move.
While waiting for Luna to wake up again, Paige had already set up all the medical gear.
In the hospital room, Luna saw Paige and lit up with a smile.
She hadn't been clingy all day, letting Paige do her thing, and behaved super well. So now that Paige was back, Luna was all smiles, waiting for some praise.
Paige knew Luna had been a real trooper today.
"Mom, to help you get better, I'm gonna give you a full check-up myself. Remember? I know a bit about medicine. My foster grandpa taught me. With a few treatments and check-ups, you might fully recover."
Paige was confident in her skills.
Hearing Paige's words, Luna's smile grew wider. Paige had some skills now and could finally take care of herself.
As a mom, Luna was over the moon. Even though she couldn't speak clearly and her language skills were shot, seeing Paige like this made her happy.
After disinfecting her hands, Paige asked Pearl to help out.
She cranked up the room temperature and helped Luna take off her clothes. Paige then started her special treatment method to help Luna. Paige was already sweating buckets.
If only Mark were still around. His treatment skills would be way better than Paige's.
Mark had been at it for years, and he had some unique ways to help patients feel better faster. But back then, Paige was too young and hadn't learned enough from Mark. Otherwise, she could've eased Luna's pain quicker.
After the treatment, Luna was already dozing off. For her, no therapy could instantly fix her condition.
After all, she had been in a coma for five years. During those five years, even though she got good care from the medical staff, she was just hanging on.
Now, Paige wanted Luna to bounce back quickly, which was natural, but it couldn't be rushed. The consequences of rushing were unpredictable.
"This treatment method is awesome, but will she get better soon?"
Paige shook her head and said, "She's been out for five years. No treatment plan can make her bounce back quickly. We need to be patient. After the treatment, she might feel a bit more comfy when she wakes up, which is normal."
Hearing this, Pearl thought the Sackler family was really heartless.
He couldn't help but curse, "They are the worst. Turning a perfectly normal person into this mess is a crime and a total violation of human rights. Xanthe, you can sue them anytime. They might end up doing a few years in the slammer."
Paige gave a faint smile and said, "No rush. The timing's not right yet."
Pearl got that Paige wasn't ignoring the issue, just biding her time. Whether she would go after them depended on the Sackler family's next moves. Even if Paige wanted to, Luna might protect them since Xena was her daughter. With Luna's poor health and her thoughts still on Xena, how could Paige go against her wishes and take action now?
If Luna heard the news and something happened, Paige would regret it deeply.
It wasn't for the Sackler family's sake but for Luna's.
Pearl thought Paige made a lot of sense. Right now, Luna's health should be the top priority.
Plus, with Paige's current status and skills, taking down the Sackler family would be a piece of cake.
"Xanthe, you've really got your head on straight."
As they talked, Luna woke up after a bit. Seeing Paige by her side, she felt super safe.
Since waking up after the antidote injection, she had been living in fear every day. Someone had bullied her and even wanted her dead, but only Paige really tried to protect her. So, she felt closest to Paige.
Seeing her wake up, Paige immediately went to check on her.
Although Luna couldn't speak fully, she could express some of her thoughts. After communicating for so long, Paige and she had developed a certain level of understanding.
"Mom, how you feeling?"
After Paige asked, Luna nodded slightly, meaning she felt pretty good.
Paige checked the time and put away the medical tools.
Although her techniques weren't instant fixes, Paige felt that Luna's condition had significantly improved.
With a few more treatments, she might partially recover.
That would already be awesome.
Paige personally helped her get dressed and then helped her sit up in bed.
After a short nap, Luna was in good spirits, and Paige stayed by her side.
She also asked if Luna wanted to see Xena. If she really wanted to, Paige would make it happen. She just wanted Luna to be happy.
Paige tentatively asked, "Mom, is there anyone you wanna see? Like Xena. If you wanna see her, I can set it up. But, you know, she and I don't get along and might argue. But don't worry, I'll do my best to keep it cool if you wanna see her."
