Chapter 305 What is the Truth? Who is She?
Louis's face was pale, but the muzzle of the gun in his hand still smoked, a striking contrast between cold and hot.
Everyone else in the room stared at Louis in shock, then at Xena.
No one had expected that the one to finally take down the assassin Xena would be Louis.
Francesca was stunned for several seconds before she came to her senses. She stood there, glanced at Xena, and knew in her heart that Xena wouldn't survive.
When Francesca looked back at Louis, she felt, for a moment, that this might be fate.
Xena had poisoned Luna, and Louis had shot Xena.
In the oppressive atmosphere, Francesca let out a sigh of relief.
Upon hearing the gunshots, Julian burst into the room with his men.
Then they saw the person gradually falling Xena.
Paige held her breath deeply, not daring to exhale, and ordered Julian, "Restrain Francesca and Louis!"
As soon as she finished speaking, Paige rushed forward and caught the falling Xena.
Xena was coughing up blood, her face turned pale and ashen.
Paige clenched her fist to stay calm, pressing hard on the bullet wound in Xena's chest, trying to buy some time.
She shouted, "What else did you see, what else did you hear?"
Xena must have known something more; her words were clearly unfinished.
Louis's two shots were obviously meant to stop Xena from speaking further.
At this moment, everyone behind Paige was in chaos.
Julian and his men disarmed Louis and surrounded Francesca.
Raymond, after retrieving his gun, approached Paige.
He reached out his hand, and those two shots had shattered Paige's calm thoughts. She felt helpless, pinning her last hope on Xena.
Pearl, having seen such scenes before, remained relatively calm.
Amelia was scared, not expecting Louis to suddenly fire.
Paige wanted revenge, and wanted to kill Xena, but she wouldn't do it so openly in front of everyone. Amelia unconsciously moved closer to Pearl, who noticed her nervousness, patted her shoulder slightly, and gently comforted her.
Xena, supported by Paige, could stop breathing at any moment.
But she seemed to be holding on to her last breath, refusing to let go.
Paige knew this was her last chance.
She spoke to Xena again, "Do you love her, Xena? You've spent your whole life wanting her love. Do you want to see her after death?"
Xena's lips trembled, clearly wanting to speak.
Paige suddenly felt it was too noisy behind her and shouted, "Everyone, shut up!"
Instantly, the room fell silent and you could hear a pin drop!
Paige looked at Xena again, "What do you want to say? Tell me."
Xena's lips trembled more violently, her voice mixed with blood, spilling from her throat.
"She, she pulled a lot of hair from Mom's head, Francesca, she..."
Francesca's chest heaved violently. Xena could still speak?
At this moment, Paige glanced back at Francesca. What did that mean?
Paige, with her medical background, knew all too well!
Xena spoke too quickly, choking on her blood, and started coughing fiercely.
Paige immediately lifted her higher, patting her to help her continue speaking.
But Francesca interrupted, "Paige, don't listen to her nonsense. She's about to die, she hates you, she just wants to mislead you!"
Paige, however, was furious, "Francesca, shut up!"
From the moment Xena referred to Luna as 'Mom', Paige was willing to believe what she was saying now.
She knew how heartless and cruel Xena was, but her unattainable love for her mother was also genuine.
Francesca saw the earnest expression on Paige's face and felt too heartbroken to speak.
She could no longer stop it.
Now she could only pray that fate would favor her a little, allowing the truth to be delayed indefinitely.
Xena, catching her breath, reached out her trembling hand to Paige.
Paige saw her hand reaching for her neck and knew Xena's target was the necklace around her neck.
At that moment, Paige didn't hesitate. She leaned her neck forward slightly, pulled the necklace, and handed it to Xena's hand.
Xena's lips trembled into a smile.
Her face regained a bit of color, and her spirit was lifted.
She spoke more fluently than before.
Her fingers, almost powerless, touched the necklace on Paige's neck, the one she had once taken from Margaret.
She dared to take it but never dared to wear it. After taking it, as Paige had said, she didn't even dare to look at it again.
In her final moments, Paige allowing her to touch this symbol of love left her with no regrets.
Xena looked at Paige and said, "Paige, I've been thinking for a long time, why did Francesca pull Mom's hair? It seems she knew Mom long ago."
"Neither you nor I could match with Mom, but Louis could..."
With that smile, Xena choked on her blood again, coughing violently.
Her life was slipping away rapidly.
This time, when she caught her breath again, she was almost lifeless.
Her hand, touching Paige's necklace, finally lost its strength. As her arm fell heavily, she grabbed Paige's arm.
"Paige, your proud marriage, if the truth turns out that you are Mr. Raymond's niece, how would you dare to face Mom?
"After all, I am her good daughter, you are not..."
Before Xena could finish her sentence, her hand fell heavily from Paige's arm.
Her mouth was open, the last bit of blood trickling from the corner of her lips, and her eyes stared at Paige.
The last breath of life completely vanished, and Xena's short life came to an end!
Paige held Xena's body as if struck by lightning, unable to move.
The room was so quiet that everyone present heard the words Xena had said.
Francesca stood there, stunned and silent, as if awaiting her fate.
Louis, however, kept his eyes on Francesca the entire time.
Pearl and Amelia were both shocked. This was beyond unexpected.
No one could have imagined such a possibility.
Raymond, at the center of the storm, stood still for a few seconds before stepping forward.
He walked over without any hesitation or worry, stopping in front of Paige and kneeling to lay Xena's body gently on the ground.
With a broad gesture, Charles immediately handed him a towel.
Raymond took Paige's hand and meticulously wiped off the bloodstains from Xena.
When the towel got dirty, he tossed it aside, and someone immediately picked it up, while Charles handed him a new one.
Raymond continued until Paige's hands were completely clean.
Then he noticed some bloodstains on the necklace around Paige's neck and cleaned those as well.
He held Paige's hand, turning her to face him.
Raymond's voice, deep and magnetic as usual, was now even softer and more gentle.
"Don't believe any rumors. We are husband and wife, destined to be together."
Paige slowly came back to her senses, her gaze shifting away from Raymond to Xena's body on the ground.
As she looked, Paige reached out, her delicate hand gently brushing Xena's face, closing her eyes.
Raymond felt a dull pain in his heart.
Paige slowly stood up, her other hand still held by Raymond.
She moved slightly, but Raymond held her hand tightly.
Feeling the strength and warmth of Raymond's hand, Paige didn't struggle anymore but let him hold her hand.
After regaining her composure, Paige rebuilt her calm and defenses.
Facing Francesca, she raised her hand and waved gently.
The bodyguards between her and Francesca stepped aside in unison.
Paige looked at Francesca, "You heard what Xena said, right? If you have anything to explain or cover-up, I'll give you the chance now."
Francesca took a deep breath of fresh air, fearing she might not be able to breathe soon.
After adjusting herself, Francesca spoke, "Paige, do you believe it?"
Paige: "Why wouldn't I?"
Francesca: "You're not someone who is easily deceived. Her words were clearly her last bit of hatred, her final scheme. We are family. She aimed to sow discord. It's so obvious, how can you believe it?"
Paige: "Does it matter whether I believe it or not, Francesca? I don't easily believe what others say. I believe in evidence. I have preserved all my mom's genetic and physical data. Let's speak with evidence. Isn't it better to verify the results and then determine whether Xena's words are true or false?"
Francesca's heart trembled. Preserved all DNA data?
For a moment, Francesca didn't know what to say, how to argue, or how to cover it up.
Paige turned her gaze to Louis, "She's right. She became the Sackler family's heiress through a swap, and her match didn't work. As my mom's biological daughter, I didn't match either."
"Ironically, Louis did."
"And ever since Louis's match, Francesca, you've been obstructing in every way. Can you save me some trouble and directly tell me why?"
"If it's just that you don't want to harm Louis's health, then why did you take my mom's hair when you met her alone?"
"What did you intend to do with the hair you took?"
Paige questioned one by one, leaving Francesca speechless.
Raymond's hand trembled slightly. Paige turned to look at Raymond but suddenly pulled her hand out of his.
Raymond's face darkened instantly, he sensed the scent of danger.
As Francesca was left speechless, Louis stepped in front of her and said to Paige, "Up until now, Xena didn't actually see my mom harm Mrs. Parker. As for taking the hair, she might not have seen it clearly."
"Paige, you want to know if my mom was involved in killing Mrs. Parker, right? Now you should know, she wasn't!"
"So there's no need to take Xena's words seriously."
"The fact is, my mom's biggest mistake was meeting Mrs. Parker alone and compromising security. For that, we apologize and will find ways to make it up to you."
"But today, there's nothing more to say. We're very tired and want to go back to our room to rest."
With that, Louis supported Francesca and started to leave.
Francesca clung tightly to Louis's arm, wanting to get away from here quickly.
As they were about to leave, Paige suddenly spoke, "Louis, you're so smart, you must have realized it, right? Otherwise, why did you shoot?"
Louis paused, standing still for a few seconds before continuing to walk away with Francesca.
Paige's heartfelt empty out of the blue.
She came for revenge and her investigation led her here. Now, who was she?
