Chapter 317 She Works Hard in Secret
With the gentlest smile on her face, she spoke the harshest words.
As soon as Paige said this, Francesca tilted her head slightly and gave a signal to the bodyguards.
In an instant, everyone rushed forward, surrounding Paige and her group.
Raymond extended his arm, shielding Paige within his protective circle, not allowing anyone the chance to even touch her.
The next second, Raymond's sharp gaze swept towards Francesca. "Francesca, what is the meaning of this?"
Francesca replied, "I suspect someone is holding my son hostage, intending to do something bad to him. Raymond, Paige, I just want to take Louis away. I don't care about anything else."
When Francesca woke up in the morning and heard that Louis hadn't returned all night, she immediately started investigating his whereabouts from the previous evening.
What she found out was alarming, Louis had been drinking with Amelia and was eventually taken to a hotel by her.
Now, Francesca was barely keeping her emotions in check, which was already a testament to her good temper.
Paige gently pushed away Raymond's protective hand and stepped forward. "Francesca, why don't you take a look now and see if there's anyone here who intends to harm Louis?"
Francesca couldn't target Raymond and Paige, so she had no choice but to direct her anger towards Amelia.
Francesca asked, "Ms. Smith, were you with Louis last night?"
Amelia responded, "Mrs. Carnegie, Louis was drunk. I just brought him here and took care of him..."
Before Amelia could finish, Louis stepped forward, positioning himself directly in front of her.
He understood the situation clearly. Francesca had come with such a grand display, and it was unlikely she would target Raymond and Paige too harshly, as they were family.
This was a public place, and although bodyguards were keeping them separated from other passersby, a confrontation could easily spark outside speculation.
Therefore, Francesca would direct all her anger and hostility towards Amelia.
Amelia was innocent; she had taken care of him last night when he was in a bad state. If Francesca targeted Amelia, it would be an unjust harm.
Louis couldn't allow that to happen.
"Mom, what does this have to do with Amelia? Besides Uncle Raymond and Paige, it's just me and Amelia here. Do you think anyone would harm me? Last night, I was drunk, and Amelia took care of me. I even owe her a favor. Other than Amelia, do you think Uncle Raymond and Paige would harm me?" Louis said.
Seeing Louis stand up to defend Amelia, Francesca couldn't criticize Raymond and Paige. Even though she really wanted to say 'yes,' she couldn't openly conflict with them.
Francesca could only say to Louis, "Louis, I'm taking you home."
Louis took a deep breath and glanced at Paige. He knew that if he didn't step in and Paige had to resolve the issue, it wouldn't take long before the Carnegie family, Hawke Corporation, and the Universe Group would be trending topics.
Louis said, "Mom, it's already late. I need to go to the office."
Francesca replied, "That's perfect. Your car isn't here, so I'll take you."
Louis sighed, "Mom, I'm not a child anymore. I can decide my own matters."
Francesca looked around and lowered her voice, "You promised me."
These days, there hadn't been any movement from Paige's side, but Francesca knew Paige wouldn't give up so easily. She must be working in the shadows.
Paige had a lab, and Francesca knew about it. She also knew that Xena wasn't of the Sackler family bloodline, as proven by a DNA test done there.
Francesca was determined to prevent Louis from getting involved with Paige.
Seeing the standoff between Louis and Francesca, Paige suggested, "Why don't we find another place to talk? If you don't mind, I can choose the place. This is Northwind, after all. Everyone here has status and reputation. If someone takes a picture, it will become a topic."
Paige knew that since Francesca had pushed Louis to the position of CEO of Hawke Corporation, she still cared about this status.
So now, she was betting that Francesca was also worried about a scandal.
Raymond chimed in, "This really isn't the place to talk, and there are so many people here."
Francesca stepped forward, trying to pull Louis away, but Paige quickly moved in front of him.
Louis had already agreed to go to Locas for the test, and Paige wasn't going to let go easily now.
Standing between Francesca and Louis, Paige looked directly at Francesca.

Francesca's body trembled at Paige's words.
These days, she had indeed found several women to approach Raymond, but she didn't expect Raymond to resist the temptation, and Paige knew it all!
Feeling guilty, Francesca heard Louis say, "Let's find another place to talk."
