Chapter 199 The Love of My life
Paige let out a mocking laugh after her words. Lily clutched the pouch Raymond had given her and moved closer to Oliver.
In that moment, Lily's innocence vanished. A fierce look took over. Lily shot a venomous glare at Paige. "I have no idea what you're talking about."
Paige didn't get mad. "It's chilling to see Carter lying dead in the street like that. Who could be so heartless? An assassin? Or maybe..."
Before Paige could finish, Lily and Oliver's faces had already changed. Lily didn't want to argue with Paige anymore. If their identities were exposed, they couldn't stay in Quorinthus. Plus, staying here in the Northwind would be a huge problem.
Looking at Raymond, Lily said, "Raymond, I think we should end the wedding now. I'm not happy with uninvited guests. Let's call it a day; I'm leaving."
With that, Lily yanked off her veil and tried to pull Oliver away. Paige shouted, "Close the doors and let the guests go rest. I need to deal with some unwelcome guests."
As soon as Paige said this, the bodyguards scattered around followed her orders. They closed the doors and politely escorted the other guests out.
Despite their curiosity, no one wanted to stick around. Once everyone had left, only Raymond, Paige, Lily, and Oliver remained in the hall, along with several of Raymond's bodyguards.
These people were rarely seen, but now they were all here. Although much had been investigated about Lily and Oliver, it was still unclear whether they were murderers. Raymond and Paige weren't the type to gamble with their lives; they wouldn't act rashly without knowing all the details.
"With the wedding hall clear, it's not that easy for you two to leave." Paige blocked their way.
Lily stepped forward, standing in front of Oliver. She coldly faced Paige. "What do you want?"
Then Lily looked at Raymond. "Raymond, are you just going to let your ex-wife treat me like this?"
Raymond approached Paige and stood beside her. "Ex-wife?" Raymond raised his voice, clearly annoyed by the term.
Lily said, "Today is our wedding. It's bad enough she disrupted it, and now she wants to stop me from leaving." Raymond suddenly smiled mysteriously.
Raymond had always been a cripple in Lily's eyes. Despite being of higher rank than Louis, he didn't actually hold any power in the Carnegie family. It was a situation similar to being abandoned by the family, living a luxurious life but lacking real power.
Lily wouldn't have even looked at him without the clues to secret funds he held. Now, Raymond was standing up from his wheelchair to defend Paige, even giving her a mocking smile. Lily's face grew even darker.
Raymond continued, "As the love of my life, she guided and directed the whole act just to make you believe I genuinely wanted to marry you. Did you think you could get what you wanted by deceiving me? Well, sorry to disappoint you. I declare that whether you are siblings or lovers, you won't be leaving Quorinthus! If you want to commit crimes on this land, you'd better think twice!"
