Chapter 159 Utter Humiliation, Even the Disabled Don't Want You

Paige invited everyone to dinner, but no one had much of an appetite at the table.

Bradley was worried that Paige and Raymond might really get divorced.

Francesca was also worried about Paige and Raymond getting divorced. If that happened, she feared that Louis would stop at nothing to pursue Paige, which would be a terrible thing.

Francesca didn't want that to happen; she hoped Paige and Raymond would stay together.

Paige, on the other hand, had a decent appetite. As the dishes were served, she not only helped Bradley with his food but also ate herself.

It was as if the mention of divorce had nothing to do with her.

Bradley watched Paige eat naturally, and he was deeply worried.

Raymond and Paige's marriage was something he had strongly advocated for.

He thought Paige had good medical skills, a good character, and was good-looking. She was a good match for Raymond.

Moreover, Bradley had seen them develop feelings for each other. Now, they suddenly talked about divorce, and he was naturally unwilling to accept it.

As he ate, Bradley couldn't help but ask Paige, "Paige, no matter what Raymond did wrong, for my sake, can you forgive him this once?"

Paige put a large shrimp into Bradley's plate. "Dad, don't worry about Raymond and me. We'll handle it."

"I'm afraid your handling will lead to divorce. Paige, it's not easy for you two to come this far. Arguments are inevitable. Can you talk it out properly?"

Paige felt a bit guilty. She had told Bradley about this in advance, knowing it would worry him greatly, but she had no other choice.

The meal was unpleasant for everyone.

After dinner, as Bradley was leaving, he couldn't help but tell Paige, "Paige, if anything happens, come back and tell me. Talk to Raymond properly."

He repeated himself, fearing that Paige and Raymond would divorce.

Bradley left first. Seeing him go, Louis wanted to stay and talk to Paige.

Francesca, sensing the situation, immediately said, "Paige, can you have a cup of coffee with me? The coffee beans at this hotel's café are flown in."

Paige glanced at them and immediately understood Francesca's intention.

Francesca wanted to keep Paige, making it inappropriate for Louis to join a conversation between two women, especially two elders.

Paige nodded, and Louis had to leave first.

Francesca smiled and led the way for Paige, but after a few steps, Paige saw someone approaching and said, "You go to the café first. I see someone I know and need to say a few words."

Francesca nodded. "Okay."

Francesca went to the café first. As soon as she left, Xena, carrying a limited-edition handbag, walked towards Paige.

"I didn't expect to see you here."

Xena hadn't seen Paige for several days. Seeing her now, she was in a particularly good mood.

Paige asked, "What are you doing here?"

Her question seemed to imply she already knew the answer.

Xena smiled. "Why can't I be here? Paige, you don't want me to have a good time, so I don't want you to have a good time either. Last time at Hawke Corporation's anniversary, you made me lose face, and I can't even see Louis anymore.

"I thought your position as the lady of the Carnegie family was secure, but it turns out your position in this wealthy family is also coming to an end. Raymond has good taste; he abandoned you so quickly."

Paige's expression was cold. "Were you eavesdropping?"

Xena must have heard something to mock her now.

Xena laughed even more arrogantly.

Without the Carnegie family's support, what did Paige have to be arrogant about? Xena could step on her anytime, even crush her into the mud, never to rise again.

"Eavesdropping? Do I need to eavesdrop? You were talking so loudly that I could hear without trying. Paige, how can you be so stupid?

"You worked so hard to get someone like Raymond, and you didn't hold on tight. Now, your goal isn't achieved, and you must be very unhappy, right?

"It's great. Raymond doesn't want you anymore. You're about to have nothing. Do you know that?"

Paige looked at Xena indifferently. "What, in your eyes, do I have to rely on a man?"

Xena stopped smiling. "Rely on a man? You? A bastard who has been to prison, only someone like Raymond, a cripple, would marry you. Now, even a disabled person doesn't want you. After the divorce, you'll be a divorcee. Who would want you?"

Paige almost laughed out loud at Xena's words.

She was even eager to see Xena's reaction when she found out Paige was seeking a meeting with the CEO of Universe Group.

Would she still be so arrogant?

After a tirade of insults, Xena felt a bit satisfied.

If it weren't for Paige switching her drink at Hawke Corporation's anniversary, she wouldn't be in her current situation.

Although she had connected with Universe Group, nothing was confirmed yet.

But none of this stopped Xena from mocking Paige.

Even if she had nothing, she still had the Sackler family and the entire Sackler Group.

What did Paige have?

She was an orphan, struggling to get by, worse off than Xena.

Paige said, "I'm curious how Margaret Trump raised you all these years. Margaret doesn't seem stupid, so how did she raise such an idiot like you?"

After saying that, Paige turned to leave.

Xena wasn't willing to give up such a good opportunity and followed Paige, mocking her all the way, "Paige, who are you calling an idiot? Look at yourself before you talk about me. You're about to be abandoned by Raymond, even a disabled person doesn't want you and despises you."

Paige wasn't angry at Xena's words and walked straight to the café.

She stopped in front of Francesca, and Xena also stopped, still cursing and humiliating Paige.

But when she stopped, she saw Francesca sitting opposite.

Francesca was Louis's mother, and Xena immediately fell silent.

Paige smiled. "Francesca, sorry to keep you waiting."

Francesca nodded. "It's okay." Then she looked at Xena and said, "Oh, Xena is here too."

Xena awkwardly said, "Auntie, I have something to do. I'll leave first."

After saying that, Xena fled in embarrassment.

Paige couldn't help but laugh, "Aren't you glad Louis didn't marry her?"
